Devil [6] Help! Searching for Safeways Rye Bread Recipe

When I grew up in Winnipeg, we did a lot of our shopping at Safeways. You could get everything there, but one of their biggest draws was, I think, their bread. You bought it uncut or unsliced, in a paper sack. The crust was hard and crispy. The inside was light and fluffy and had a Rye taste to it. There were spices in it I still haven't identified. Would love to get the recipe.

Can anybody out there help me? I looked up Safeways and they're not talking about bread!

I doubt they bake like they used to. All commercial bakeries, incl,  in-store bakeries now purchase everything in mixes. You can get a mix for any kind of bread from commercial wholesale suppliers. All the bakeries have to do is add water. Many bakeries even get frozen loaves delivered and all they do is thaw and bake.

I woukld go to Safeway and ask.
