    • Well Bob is off for three days starting today.  He is going to enjoy it.  Especially since he got some new shoes last week and wore them to work this week and they have made his feet sore.  So one stop we will make is Shoetown to see if we can find a pair like he got the last 2 pair he bought.  Those did not bother him in the least!!

    • Thought for the Day- The young do not know enough to be prudent and therefore, they attempt the impossible and achieve it, generation after generation.-Pearl S. Buck

    • Today in 1965, Spaghetti-O's were introduced to a waiting pasta? To make a fresh tomato sauce, even with canned tomatoes? For goodness sake, to open a jar of one of the many more-than-decent bottled pasta sauces out there? It's hard to imagine that anyone eats canned pasta except at the extremes of survival. I think I'd dig for edible roots first.  Now Kelly (DS), on the other hand, would have eaten that 7 nights a week if I would have let him.  I hope he has finally outgrown it, but couldn’t swear to it.  I hope none of us is celebrating the day by eating Spaghetti-O’s!!

    • Cilla-Hope you are feeling better today!!

    • Beverly-How horrible for you and your DS and family!! I hope the catch the persons responsible!! I do expect your DS has some protection and is not afraid to use it on either kind of snake!!

    • Penny-Another excuse to watch to reruns of NCIS!!

    Good Morning Everyone,

When our kids were small and we went camping, the highlight of their trip was to be able to eat Spaghetti-O's.   Ugh!   I can just imagine their faces if I were to feed it to them today! LOL!

The sun is shinning here today, I have to get my hair cut this morning, outside of that nothing else is planned.    It rained all day yesterday, so if the spirit moves me, I'm sure the lawn can be mowed again.

Wishing you all a wonderful day,

    Mabel

Good Morning sorry I didn't get to the board yesterday but it was the first really nice day we have had so I did my walking outside. After I walked I cleaned house as my oldest DD was coming to spend the night.

Zora I have not dowloaded Neil Diamond's Album but will have to check it out. My youngest DD gave me a $25.00 gift card for ITunes and I have just been getting the songs one at a time, I have a little over $2.00 left.

    Tippy that cake is beautiful.

Congradulations Lois on the new toy.

Mabel have a fun hair day.

Mentioning SOS my husband always said it was with hamburger. I love sausage gravy but would prefer it over biscuits rather than toast. When I was a kid my DSIL made us chocolate gravy now that is something I don't know if I would like now. LOL I also remember my Mom making us broiled cinnamon toast, back then we didn't know what toasters were. LOL

Zora I was not a Spaghetti-O fan but I can remember my kids loving them.

NancyB I hope that Dr. can help you with the pain.

Margaret mt Mom used to make us pimento cheese sandwiches, I loved them. I remember she would grind the cheese and pimento's together, I loved them. I also like just about anything with pecans in it so will have to give your recipe a try.

Have to go feed the cats, wishing everyone a wonderful day.

This is getting to be a bad habit...Drive by postings.

I did catch up on last night's posts this morning. I got home late. After everything settled down here a friend and I went out for dinner and to the movies. Went to see "Prince Caspian". I love C.S. Lewis writings and loved the first movie, "Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe."

I want to thank you, ZORA, for posting the cake pic. I really appreciate you!!!!

MARGARET~~That cake pan is a 2-cake-mix size. It's a quarter sheet cake and just barely fits in my oven. When I looked at replacing my oven (which will need to be done soon) I take my cake pan with me. Amazing how small the insides of the new ovens really are in comparison to the old ones. Same as furniture...More overstuffed arms and less sitting room on the couch. Grrrrrr! (That's just me own personal issue though, HA)

Just in time for my overstuffed back side to start doing that. LOL

Gotta run so I'm giving out a big wave to each of you. Lots of hugs and prayers in the baskets.

Decorating DDIL's graduation cake this morning and then off to the graduation itself.

Take care of yourselves because you are precious!

BEVERLY~ I meant to tell you how mortified I was when I read your post. That is scary stuff. Do they know how long those dirt-bags have been hanging out? shudder!

We have been victims of breakins and thefts and it isn't just the loss that is so unnerving....It's the feeling of insecurity and violation personally that cut to the quick even more.

I hope they catch them SOON!

    Re: 05/16/08 CS's Chat

    Good morning, CS.

We're ready for a nice day here. Will do some yard work and repot some plants. I don't have lots of plants, but enough for color to see out my back window.

ZORA, enjoy the long weekend with Bob. He's lucky he can find shoes. Russell has a small, wide foot and shoe shopping with him is a chore. I usually let him go alone. My girls ate the "O's when they were small, but now we don't buy them.

MARGARET E, I see your craft nights end up like ours. Lots of chatting and a little snacking, too.

MABEL, I think camping and vacations at the lake called for easy meals. Otherwise, mom is cooking and cleaning just like at home. I try to have things made easy when we go to the trailer, too. But, no Spaghetti-Os.

CATS, it's been nice here for walking, too. Cool, but sunny. I don't have any new music on my MP3 player, just songs from my own CD's.

TIPPY, the characters on the cake were just great. I have a couple of big pans, but haven't used them for a while. I will probably bake a big cake for our anniversary in July. We won't have a big celebration, but the kids will be here and maybe some of the Appleton group will drive down.

MARGARET, at least your two little ones are still good to hug and sit on your lap. Hoping Kyle gets the help needed for his knee. Hard to believe Miranda will be 10 already.

RUTH, not easy watching movies in the evening. Nodding off happens here, too. Good to hear you felt better, yesterday.

MERLE, dampness and rain sure make the joints ache. No check here, I thing we are on the end of the list.

Talking about SOS, Russell said, chipped beef, too. But, he swears it also had whatever meat that was served the night before in it.

Just a cleaning with a glance today and some work in the yard.

Hugs and prayers for all CS.

    Nancy Z.

    Hello,

Today is cooking day for me. We are having a cook out tomorrow at our house and I have to make the baked beans and macoroni salad today. Since it probably will be hot again I have to clean the house as we will eat inside and then play cards.

The guys who will be blowing in the insulation will be here this morning to do there thing but they won't bother me as you get to the attic from the garage.

Mabel, wish I could join you in getting my hair cut but I'm waiting to time it just right so I have a fresh cut just before vacation. I'll have to start braiding it pretty soon tho.

Zora, I haven't had Spagetti-0's in the house since the last grandchild used to stay at our place in Mn. Yuck!

Loved the picture of the cake Tippy. You are talented.

Margaret, (E), you have so much rain and I live in deep Tx and we hardly get rain at all.

Think we could maybe share some rain and some sun?

Tippy I agree with the furniture today. I need a new sofa and loveseat but refuse to buy them with the big over stuffed look.

Well I better go get my beans going. I have an electric bean pot that I bought over 51 years ago that I make the beans in. It takes forever to do them but my dh loves them and I don't eat them so I use the pot.

Waving to all that come in today.

A crocodile hatches during a crocodile hatching festival at Sriracha Tiger Zoo, 120 km (74 miles) east of Bangkok May 13, 2008. The zoo consists of more than 200 Bengal tigers and 100,000 crocodiles.

Furry, tiny kittens waddled across the kitchen floor after devouring a tasty meal of kitten chow laced with kitten fishy canned food, mmm, yummy--for them. Lady, fat Australian Shepard, lay sprawled on the floor, ears pricked upright, eyes bright in hopes we "slipped" and said a word that would give her "permission" to do something about "those CATS".

Kittens are now back outdoors with their Mama in the pen. She is half wild and we will keep her "locked up" till the babies are weaned and we can get her spade. Then she can "run" to her hearts content or slink about the porch for food in hopes I do not catch her once more. Lol.

    Tippy--loved the cake. Very creative.

DH just waltzed in and invited me to breakfast. Chat at y'all later.

Greetings from Overcast Northeast Florida -- we FINALLY got some rain yesterday -- less than an inch, but all drops greatfully appreciated. The was the first rain in almost 3 weeks.

I am ROFL about the Spaghetti-o's! Years back when we had a hurricane heading for us, Robert sent me up to Sam's Club to get supplies. He wasn't real happy when I showed up with a case of spaghettios and a can of cherry koolaid! I have always eaten the spaghettios cold right out of the can-- so I was set. {sorry if I ruined anyone's appetite !] It sure beats dry cereal with powdered milk during a hurricane party.

Have a great day, everyone !

Good morning from a cloudy Indiana, it's 62 out there, need a light jacket.  DH out mowing, going to a farm sale later.  I've been writing checks & doing laundry.

We'll go out tonight for dinner, going to our favorite chicken place & having broasted chicken, my favorite, love it.  DD has to work all weekend so she won't be out, maybe next weekend.

Can't say as I'm a fan of spaghetti o's, the girls loved them growing up, but not for me.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

My son and his friend are here putting in my 3 tomato plants, lettuce seeds, onion sets, and polebeans, and spraying the 5 peach trees.  I just can't do it anymore cuz of the bending involved and my back pain.  Sure do miss digging in soil - something so satisfying about it.

Am eagerly waiting to hear from Pat today or tomorrow. I can't plan a meal cuz I don't know when or what time they might come so I'll take them out if that works out.

Kee me in your prayers for the back procedure Wed. Nancy B

    Good afternoon,

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I’m sorry so many or their loved ones are hurting. Keeping you all in my thoughts and sending get well wishes.

Spring is sitting on a fence here. Can’t quite make up its mind if it’s coming or going. The last bits of snow are gone but every couple of days a few stray snowflakes come down. Keeps us on our toes. Not warm by any means, but couple of days ago I managed to get all my windows opened for the first time this year, and it was such a great feeling.

Never had Spagheti-0s and judging by the comments made here today never will.

Stay well, stay pain-free and stay happy.

    Grace
