    O. T. --- Turkey Burger from the Oprah Show yesterday

Did anyone get to copy the recipe?  I was heading out teh door, and missed it.  I remember it had apples in it.

Thanks in advance if you have it and will share it with me.

Re: O. T. --- Turkey Burger from the Oprah Show yesterday

For those who missed the show, this was Oprah's first ever Favorite Things for Summer.  She opened with saying this was the best Turkey Burger she has ever eaten.

"Oprah found a new favorite food when she tried this turkey burger at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump's private club in Palm Beach. "I believe [it] may be the best turkey burger in the entire world," she says. The Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger will be permanently available at the Trump Bar and Grille in Trump Tower in New York City, open to the public for lunch and dinner. It will also be served during lunch in Chicago at Sixteen, the Trump International Hotel restaurant."

    Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger

1/4           cup  scallions -- thinly sliced
1/2           cup  celery -- finely chopped
3                     Granny Smith apples -- peeled and diced
         1/8           cup  canola oil
      4             pounds  ground turkey breast
      2              Tbsp.  salt
      1              Tbsp.  black pepper
      2               tsp.  chipotle TabascoT
1                     lemon -- juice and grated zest
1/2         bunch  parsley -- finely chopped
         1/4           cup  Major Grey's Chutney -- pureed

Sauté the scallions, celery and apples in the canola oil until tender. Let cool.

Place the ground turkey in a large mixing bowl. Add sautéed items and the remaining ingredients. Shape into eight 8-ounce burgers. Refrigerate for 2 hours.

Season the turkey burgers with salt and pepper. Place on a preheated, lightly oiled grill. Grill each side for 7 minutes until meat is thoroughly cooked. Let sit for 5 minutes.

Serve with a side of Mar-a-Lago Pear Chutney and your favorite toasted bread, pita or hamburger roll.

This is the chutney that goes on top after the burger has been cooked.

    Mar-a-Lago Pear Chutney

1                     Anjou pear -- peeled and diced
         1/2          tsp.  cinnamon
      1               tsp.  sea salt
      1 1/2           cups  Major Grey's Chutney
1/4           cup  dried currants or raisins

    Preheat oven to 350°.

Toss the diced pears with the cinnamon and salt. Bake on a parchment-lined cookie sheet for 10 minutes.

Cool and mix with the chutney and currants or raisins.

    Description:

"This pear chutney topping is the key to giving the Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger that extra zing."

beeje,  Forgot to emphasize.   Chef made huge point of emphasizing the importance of refrigerating the burgers for two hours after mixing and making patties.  Since mixture is so moist, this step is mandatory to keep burger from falling to pieces on the grill.

These sure sound good, but half a pound of meat per burger? I don't think so.Wink

They DO sound good, but check out the amount of salt in there! 2 TABLESPOONS! And then another teaspoon salt in the chutney topping (for 1 pear).  Those amounts sound questionable to me.   But in general, the ingredients sound good! Might have to cut it down, make smaller burgers, and try it here!    After all, I don't have to feed an entire restaurant with the recipe.....

Dorothy, I hadn't read the amounts of ingredients only scanned the ingredients. Egad, that is a heck of a lot of salt. I'm glad you pointed that out.

Dorothy, Thank you for pointing out the salt quantities!   I normally cook low salt / salt free.   I will definitely cut back when I make these!

Chefly, I think we could easily make 16 or more patties with this much ingredients.

I am doing WW, so I will amend what he used to make soemthing workable for me.  I was fascinated that there were apples in the burger itself.  Interesting.
