    Flyladies Report ~ 5/19 - 5/25/08

    Good morning everyone.

Zone 4, Master Bedroom.  Kelly's Mission:  Spend 15 mins. taking things out from under the bed.  This may not be enough time but for today just try to put a dent in the stuff you have put there.  If you don't have anything under the bed then grab a vacuum cleaner or broom and get the dust bunnies that have been multiplying under there.

I had to take DH to an appointment this morning then over to his shop.  Came home and put in a load of laundry, made a phone call, and pulled out the check book to pay the bills.  I have typing to do, a grocery store run and the house blessing.  Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Enjoy your day.  I'll try to be back later........Dori

    Good morning everyone,

Had a good weekend and am going back this weekend because of the fuel line on the mower. Had trouble getting on this last weekend. Took longer than usual.

Have to start the hb yet. I put some wet clothes in the dryer yesterday and forgot to turn it on. It's not the first time.

Finally got the grill going about 4. Smelled so good and tasted just as good.

Dd is home yet and dgs is full of beans, lol.

Everyone have a great day. Supposed to rain here, we'll see. Big Smile

    Linda

Hi Dori, and others who will show up later.  I haven't accomplished too much yet, but will look under the bed when I am through here.  I have the kitchen floor ready to wash quickly, then guess I will do the house blessing as long as I have a start.

A funny sort of weekend, we rented several movies and went to two graduation receptions.  DH is golfing, so I am on my own for lunch...made some egg/tuna salad which is always convenient.

Hope Linda is okay, she is usually so prompt to report!  will check in later

    Hi,

Well, it rained so didn't get the new clothes line up or the seed potatoes didn't get planted. In fact have all the windows and doors shut. It's in the 40's, so it's chilly.

Started the hb and got the last load in the dryer, in fact they should be dry.

Ds#2 & his gf r getting ingredients together to make enchilada casserrole, hope it turns out. If it's good will post the recipe tom. Ds is a good cook and at one time he was going to be a cook, so it should be good. He has the recipe with him so I can't post it right now. Smile

Dd is at work and am watching dgs. She works pt for Salvation Army, so maybe can get some good bargains. Huh?

Well, better go for now and see what dgs is up to. Hmm

    Re: Flyladies Report ~ 5/19 - 5/25/08

    Hi everyone -

I'm going bonkers with this bathroom thing.  My DH and I can't seem to get together to shop for the stuff we need to complete this remodel.  We looked at toilets and sinks at Lowes the other night.   We agreed that we wanted to get Kraftmaid cabinets like we have in the kitchen and we got those at Home Depot.  So at his urging I went to our kitchen designer at Home Depot on Sat. and got quotes on vanities and also the Kohler fixtures we saw at Lowes at a better price.  We talked about it Sat. night and he said go ahead.  So I ordered the stuff yesterday.  Then today he calls and says I have to cancel the sinks!  He talked to the decorator who convinced him that we should definitely do the granite countertop and now we need to select undercounter sinks.  By the way, I told him to call Home Depot and cancel the sinks himself!

Then he calls me at work at 10:45AM and asks me if I can go to the plumbing wholesaler right now to look at faucets and stuff!  I say I can go at noon but I'm actually working right now!  That won't work cause he has to go to work at the golf course at noon.  Arghhh.  So he went by himself and I've spent the last hour looking at Kohlers, American Standard, etc. web sites trying to see what he was looking at.

It's going to be three weeks for the cabinets - and then likely a few weeks after that for the countertop whatever in the heck it turns out to be.

Oh, and this is the creme de le creme - we have a house guest coming.  Our friend from Arizona is approaching  Amarillo, TX as I write making his way here to a one toilet house.  At least the toilet did not get cancelled and they told me it would be here within a week!  We can definitely get that installed immediately when that arrives.

Linda, please do post the enchilada casserole if it turns out good.  I'm looking for something new and different to make.  I always cook on Wednesday night and take the meal over to our surrogate father.

DD looked radiant for her prom Saturday night.  Maybe if I get some help I will be able to post a photo of the princess!

Hi all.  I haven't chimed in in a while I know.  I hope that you're all doing well.  We have been so busy lately around here.  I am doing some OAMC for later on in the month.  Trying to get some easy things made for later on this month.  We used all of the last ones that we had before.

Been cleaning and rearranging and enjoying being with Logan since he got out of school for the summer.

I am going to have to go now.   My body and mind is just wore out!  Ready for bed.

     Hugs, Angie

Oh, btw I will update you on my doings later.

I tried to post earlier, but it wasn't responding to my attempts.

Beautiful day in Iowa.  We haven't had frost since we arrived home.

I changed bedding today, so that is my big deal today.  Off to play bridge this afternoon, then go to see my friend at the care center.

    I will check in later.

    Good afternoon everyone.

Kelly's Mission:  Fling some socks and pantyhose.  Old, worn out, mismatched, outgrown, (for those with kids) or anything that you are never going to wear need to be tossed.  Clutter, even hidden in a drawer, is still clutter!

Cookie - If your friends have never redone a bathroom it will be a learning experience for them.  Hang in there.  You are going to love the finished bathroom.  Big Smile

Hi Angie.  I've been wondering where you were.  I know you are busy but it's good to see you posting.

Alphy - I had trouble posting earlier too.  Then I had to shut down and get my day started.  Thank goodness it seem to be working well now.  Hope I didn't just jinx myself.  Sad

Yesterday I did some typing for DH and noticed the refrigerator down there was running the whole time I was there.  Checked the freezer and much of it had started to defrost.  Cleaned that up and let it sit empty and open in case there was a build up of ice.  It's plugged in again since before bed time and I have a container of water in the freezer.  I have to get back there to see if it is frozen or not.  This was my Mom's refrigerator and must be 20 years old.  DH said just replace it.  That's probably what we will have to do.

    Have a great day.

    Dori

    Re: Flyladies Report ~ 5/19 - 5/25/08

    Hi,

Was going to try and get on earlier, but had to shower and get ready to go to another Dr. appt. Than I had to call the medical insurance people and the person I was talking to, geeze if I could of reached threw the phone and strangle her. She was dumb and she answering phones for an insurance co.?? I had to make some more calls and I ended back talking to the insuance co., thank the lord it wasn't the same one and she told me what to do and I called the dr. office back and made the appt.  I know I shouldn't call anyone dumb but she was. lol Big Smile

Didn't get anything done, but have supper ready to thow on the stove.

By the way it wasn't a casserole it was just a bunch of enchiladas. But boy can ds cook. It was delicious what I ate of it. Only had 1 and wished there was more.  Here's the recipe:

    Easy beef enchiladas

1 lb. lean (at least 80%) ground beef

2 cans (10 oz.) Old El Paso enchilada sauce ( any variety) he had 1 hot and 1 original.

    1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (6 oz.)

1 package (10.5 oz.) Old El Paso flour tortillas (6 in.)

    1. Heat oven to 375 degreesF. Lightly grease 13x9 in. glass baking dish. In 10 in. skillet, cook beef over medium heat, stirring occasionally until thoroughly cooked, drain. Stir 3/4 cups of the enchilada sauce and 1 cup of cheese.

    2. Spoon enchilada filling onto tortillas, roll up and put seam side down in baking dish.

    3. Pour remaining enchilada sauce over top; sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup of cheese. Bake 15 to 20 min. or until hot.

    12 enchiladas

He put them in 12 in. tortillas so we only had 6. But boy he can read directions and cook pretty good. lol Try it. It's good.

alphy, I've had some hard times to get on also, but than try later. u really like to play bridge don't u?? I always wished I knew how.

Bathrooms I don't like to do. It seems like it took us a couple of months because I didn't know how to do it and dh was working and found other excuses.  Confused So when we have to redo it it's going to be interesting. lol

Have to get to the grocery store tom. We r out of almost everything. I would've went today but the dr. appt. I thought it was tom. Luckily they call to remind a person.

Well, it's a nice day out today and spent most of it inside. Tom. will be differant. Everyone have a great day.

Dori, did your water freeze?  Better than asking did your water break, eh?

Linda, I don't know why, but sometimes I just grin when I read your posts...you seem to take whatever is tossed at you!  Yea for you!

Your recipe sounds yummy, I am going to copy it...sounds simple enough, too.

We just had leftovers tonight, so simple.  Of course, we always have a glass of red wine, too!

    Good morning everyone,

alphy, it is good and by the way if u buy the ole el  paso enchilada product or can get ahold of it it's on the back of the can, the recipe that is. lol

Wed. is garbage day and still haven't cleaned litter and boy is it starting to smell. No wonder I clean it 2 times a week. I wish I could just let them outside  the whole outdoors smells good.

I'm having problems with the puter so am going to have ds #1 look at it. All that college hopefully will help solve what's wrong with it.

Hope that freezes Dori. There's a fridge at the farm and I did that, freeze some water in it and it still works. I want to build a big garage there and store things in it and will put the fridge in it and hopefully we will have electricity and have a fridge when we r there. Want a cheap microwave also so we can warm up food.

Well, I have lots to do so better get going. Everyone have a great day. Big Smile

    Re: Flyladies Report ~ 5/19 - 5/25/08

    Good morning everyone.

Kelly's Mission:  Grab your feather duster or a dust rag and dust off the tops of your door jambs and windows.

Linda - I have to copy the recipe for enchiladas.  Sounds good.  I know what you mean about trying to get information over the phone.  So many times when I have questions the call is answered by someone overseas or another area of the USA and they have heavy accents.  I always ask where they are.  If they can't tell me, they are probably overseas.  Recently I've spoken to a lady in OK, one in NC, and a young man overseas.

BTW if anyone ever has a problem with a small appliance try calling the manufacturer.  Tell them what's wrong, how it broke, or whatever the problem is and give them the model number.  Then ask if they know of any problem with this particular appliance.  I've had new handles for my 43 yr. old pots and pans sent to my house free of charge, also replacement of my dust buster and coffee grinder.

Alphy - The freezer is pretty cold but the water didn't freeze.  LOL  Told DH I would rather have the refrigerator replaced than buy a new freezer.  We have been talking about a new freezer for a while now.  Pushin our luck with the one we have had for years!  We are only 2 people. I'm keeping my fingers crossed the freezer holds on for a while.  It's an OLD freezer that needs to be defrosted, no light, and big!  Stands upright so it's as large as a refrigerator.

Better get going.  DH called for me to pick up and deliver parts.

    Have a great day.  TTYL.........Dori

One thing I don't do...is get dressed as soon as I get out of bed.  I thoroughly enjoy sitting in my robe and reading the paper with DH, and doing the puzzles.  So, now it is time to get moving.

I like my feather duster, so that will be an easy task.

Nothing in particular on the agenda today, not that I don't have things to do!  Tomorrow we go to Ames, I have an eye appointment, then are going on to Des Moines.  We have old records..78s...in the basement, and we are going to load them up and take them to the half price book store.  Maybe there is some value there, but not if they sit in a box!  I have never been on ebay, so don't want to do that.

Hope all goes well today for all of you!

    Re: Flyladies Report ~ 5/19 - 5/25/08

    Hello everyone

Linda - Thanks for the enchilada recipe.  I think I'll maybe try them next Wednesday.  Apparently our house guest is arriving today and he has his heart set on a particular pizza only available in our area.

We're making progress on the bathroom fixtures.  Our remaining dilemma is the shape of the bathroom sinks.  We have selected a Kohler rectangular one called Ledges  and an oval one called Serif.  The faucet I have selected is a Kohler Fairfax and it is a one post, single lever.  I think it would look lonely standing in front of the rectangular sink, but would look fine standing in front of the oval one.  Of course, DH is campaigning for the Ledges.  I'm calling in the big guns - my turn to call the decorator!  Maybe we'll let her cast the tie breaking vote.

Where's Martha been?  I'd love to know what she did for sinks in her bathroom!
