    Quilter's Chat for June

Wow half way through the year already. I have, for some reason I can not account for, taken a break from sewing for the last several days. Haven't even gone down to the ole' machine! I do feel like it today. I think it may have to do with the fact that we have warmed up a bit here in Vermont (FINALLY)!

I have 2 quilts to tie off and I may do that today. Then I think I will go start the other log cabin I have been saving fabric for. I really like doing the log cabin. I do want to do another friendship star too.

Oh and just 2 more weeks of school left!!! Yipeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just taking a break from mowing grass. It was nice to have some lovely quilts to check out.

Chris When I checked my quilt everything seems fine but I'm a long way from being done. I will be very carefull everytime I move it.

Rachelle- That is what we are all here for, LOL we would love to have you chat with us! Welcome!

I finished up 3 quilt tops yesterday. I don't know whose idea it was to work with chanelle but Y*&^%$$%^H!! My eyes itch and my nose runs and my eyes itched and itched! Oh Yeah and my eyes itched! Unmercily! They were red and swollen by the time I went to bed. Course I rubbed them a lot which I should not have done, LOL

I am not sure I will work with it again. Chris Huh?

I still have to finish my mother in-law's cat quilt for her birthday. The last couple of days have been nice and sunny in Wy. Two weeks ago I was making good timing, it was rainy and snowy. Now I don't want to stay inside. I've never used chanelle and I probably won't since it bugged your eyes and nose.

Hi Rachelle Nice to meet you. I live in Saskatchewan so I understand what you mean by wanting to get outside. I'm not making good time on my quilt either but I have til Oct as it will be a wedding gift for my DS.

Chris They have a beautiful chanelle quilt hanging in the quilting shop I go to. I asked if they did a class in that pattern and they sid no. Maybe that's a good thing. LOL Hope your eyes have recovered.

I haven't sewn much at all in the last couple of months. Was at a cookout a few weeks ago and the hostess brought out a quilt that belonged to her great-grandmother. It looked like it was made mainly of feedsacks. The "batting" seemed to a blanket and the backing was different types of fabric pieced together. What a treasure!!

The mother of the hostess was there along with an elderly relative. The hostess pulled out some quilt blocks to give to the elderly woman to work on. Seems the hostess, her mother and grandmother started on this quilt in the early 90's. Using one of the "learn how to quilt" type books that made up into a sampler quilt. One would work on the blocks until they got tired of it, then pass it on to the next woman. The grandmother has since died. I told the lady she should make sure her daughter does some work on it just so they can say 4 generations worked on LOL. It was all hand piecing. The lady then showed me a quilt she hand pieced and hand quilted in the early 90's. It was beautiful! I have never been brave enough to hand piece. I will hand quilt sometimes but I prefer the speed of the machine for piecing.

My eyes are better. I think it was the fuzz that I had everywhere.

Tree, I would like to try hand piecing a quilt.  I think it would be interesting. Time comsuming but it might be nice to do at leasst one in my life.

What treat to see those quilts.

I am going to make 2 more baby quilts with the chanelle for the show I will be in in July. I am hoping to sell a couple of quilts and a lot of bags. I make a reversable bag with pockets. It is made out of fabric. Chris

    Hi there,

I am looking for ladies who would like to take part in a Quilting circle.

Its a one time thing where I send you 2 x 6" blocks of fabric and a list of names. You then have to send the same to the person on the top of the list and to 4 other friends who you think would like to take part.Your name is added to the bottom of the list. Then all you do is sit back and wait for your fabric blocks to come in from all over the world. You should end up with about 72 blocks( maybe more...lol).

If you would like to be involved please email me your name and postal address to pswallow@hotmail.com

     thanks...hope to hear from you

We don't get them, just micro bursts maybe! High winds, up to 100 degrees today! (AND IT ISN"T EVEN SUMMER YET! LOL) yeah but TORNADOES! Whew, I can't wait! NOT. Have a good day, Chris  Cool

    Re: Quilter's Chat for June

Hope you have room for one more in your quilter's chat! I'm new to quilting and hope to get to know all of you. I'm 71 (next week) and just discovered quilting in the last year or so. I made a log cabin quilt with the strip technique and got hooked. I have now made 4, one for my self and one for each of my 3 grown children. I hand quilt with the "in the ditch" stitching and am so pleased with the outcome. I have 5 more to make, one for each of my grandchildren, and am seriously considering the Double Wedding Ring for my granddaughter who will be getting married in two years. Has anyone made one of these with John Flynn's technique? Hoping to get to know all of you. .... Mary Jane
