    Question of Pfaff machines

Ok, I know they are SUPER SUPER expensive (which is why it's about impossible to find  a price for one on the internet).  But I see several on ebay that are used but authorized & serviced -- the basic ones are still several hundred dollars.

The main thing that got my curiosity about these machines is the feed system they all have -- I DESPISE the slippage that can or does occur, especially with fine fabrics and long seams, ugh!  They are supposed to be incredible machines even if I don't need embroidery capability or dozens of stitches.

Anybody hear about these machines OR buying from a used one from a reputable buyer on e-bay?

    Thanks all!

I don't know about Pfaff but my Singer has a special footfeed that keeps fine fabrics from slipping.  You can probably get one that fits all machines.  If I could afford a Pfaff I would like to try one too.

I have a Pfaff 1475 CD. I love it!! I bought it used from the Pfaff dealer here.

What your talking about is the even feed, it's a foot sort of that's built in behind the presser foot. You can raise it up so it's not in use, like for free motion quilting. That's the only time I raise it!

I LOVE my Pfaff machines.  I've used them since 1980.  The even feed is wonderful.  Very few times it has required minor servicing.  I'd recommend buying from a dealer for the followup services.

I also have a Pfaff and I love it.  It was well worth the money as it has run circles around other machines that I've had in the past.

I DO put it through the paces, well actually, I over-work it to a fault and because of that, I've had to take it in a few times for servicing which is to be expected.  My problems have mainly been that it tends to jump out of time, the buttonholer seems to skip stitches in reverse and the last problem was the bobbin casing jumping out of it's track.  All of these problems were after running the machine for 6 or more hours at a stretch and all were quickly and cheaply fixed by the dealer.

Even though I've had "issues", these have been NOTHING in comparison to the Singer's that I've had that I had to replace the computer boards on at least once a year.  I've also had one Janome which I returned to the store less than three days after I bought it - now THAT one was a real piece of work!  LOL

Even though Pfaff's are expensive, I was able to get a really good deal on a basic one for my DD for Christmas a couple of years ago - it was $239 and it works like a charm!  With the economy being what it is, I would check out a dealer as they may be more than willing to give you one heckuva deal on one right about now, along with a few little "extras".

Thanks, ya'll.  I know there isn't a dealer close by -- maybe at least an hour away -- but I could call.  I don't quilt (by machine, at least) or embroider, but these sound fabulous!  LOL, I don't think there's much chance of me running my machine non-stop for 6 hours -- I don't have that kind of patience at all!  My 30 year-old Kenmore has NEVER, despite servicing with complaints about the specific problem, been able to get bobbin/spool tension balanced.  Ever.  Now that I'm wanting to sew some more (since DD is about to go off to college) I want a machine where I can be happy looking at both threads!  The Kenmore has also always been bad to jam.
