    The Rose Room *** July 5, 2008

     Good morning everyone.

Roma, hope you had good weather for your party yesterday.

Pat, how was SouthFork? I'm sure the food was great.

We had a quiet day here. The weather was kind of yucky so the kids didn't come over.

Tango, hope you feel better soon. I know it's impossible for you to just relax; BUT TRY!!!!!!

It's raining here. Just a light rain; but enough so that I can't work in the garden; so I guess I'll go to the other house and feed the cats.

I wanted to go to a Hosta and Daylily garden this afternoon; but won't go in this weather. It's the first day it's opened for the season so all the good things will get picked off quickly. I wanted to get a few hostas.............not that I need anything.

Happy Fifth!  Boy, I just can't do the big hoo ha's like I used to could! The legs (knees) really give out about the time for cleanup.  I did half then went to bed.  Was much easier standing at the sink with fresh muscles!  Everyone said they had a great time. Tom and our neighbor had purchased a bunch of fireworks....the neighbor even had a good supply of illegal stuff and of course, that's the stuff that is really fun.  A couple others on the block had some pretty good stuff too so we had quite a show!  It didn't rain but it was too chilly to eat on the deck so moved to the dining room which worked out fine cuze one couple couldn't come so we had 8 and that's how many chairs I have. Perfecto!  Had way too much food but a party is just not a party without lots to eat and drink and there was a bounty!

Pat, your  bbq must've been fun!  I'm dying to hear all aout a bonefide Texas gathering!  Did Lily survive all the boom booms?! Bet she was glad to see you.  When I went to bed Patches hoped up and snuggled with me.  Her eyes were kind of big with that what's going on expression but other than that she didn't seem too bothered by it all and we had crackers going off until the wee hours.  A little much!

Where's Hoos and Fluffy?  Hope you guys are having a great weekend!

Puff, what kind of surgery did you have on your knee?  Somehow I missed that.

Is it a selling garden Maizey?  My one hosta still isn't doing too well.  I didn't think you could overwater them when it's hot  but that may be the problem. It sure isn't as healthy as the other one.  We are having rain today today.  Nothing serious, sprinkles. Good thing they are today!

Diana, hope you and Steve are enjoying a nice long weekend!

I'm off to soak in the tub.  Maybe that'll make my knees better.  I sure don't feel like doing much today,.  Later gators!

    Hi Rosies!

It's overcast here today.  Had some rain this morning.  We were supposed to go on a hike down at Silver Falls but DH cancelled because it's too wet.  Thought about going to MIL's for a visit, but we both have coughs so won't do that.  Decided to invite the kids over for the picnic I'd planned for the hike.  We'll call it dinner.

We went to a friend of DS#1's last night and lit off fireworks.  He lives in NW Vancouver in a cul-de-sac.  There was so much firework smoke in the air last night.  Everyone seemed to be having a great time.

Off to the store then do some cleanup.  Hugs to all.  Have a great Saturday!~~~Laura

I did end up going to the daylily farm in the light rain. I bought two hostas; but they didn't have the two I really went there for. Although they have hundreds of daylilies practically none were blooming. Anyway they have older varieties; and I have all the older ones I want. I'm into the new fancy stuff now.

Roma, I  wish I was at your place for leftovers. I am definitely not in a cooking mood these days. Luckily Bill doesn't care what I put in front of him.

In the next town to us last night one of the streets were having a fireworks party. A 19 year old kid thought it would be fun to drive his car through the fireworks and ended up killing a 39 year old who was in the street setting off the fireworks. Pretty sad!.

Weather cleared enough last night to have the fireworks.  But the smoke is back again with a vengence.  I went over the hill to run some errands and go to the cemetery.  Got gas for $4.09 in Eagle Point.  Left at 7:15 this am while it was cool; 52 degrees.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.  Hugs and prayers for Lin and Ridge. Also for Puff.  Hope you are doing better.

    Good morning.

Got home early today from the campout. It was alot of fun but it is hard going and seeing all of Scott's stuff up there.

Maizey that is just so sad about the person getting killed. What was the 19 yr. old thinking. Totally stupid.

    Off to the shower.

    Afternoon Roses,

Maizey I had the good fortune to go to a Hosta nursery in Spokane.  At that time I had several of them and I, too, am a fan.  I now have two of them and i just love them.  Glad you "bit the bullit" and went in spite of the rain.

Tango, you were speaking about grilling... well I grilled my little Fourth of July hot doggies on the Geo.Foreman grill.  Kids liked them and they sure looked like they had been on an outside grill.  Your BBq ribs sound good too.  Perhaps I'll give that a whirl. Hope you feel better SOON.  No picnic feeling like you've been feeling.

Roma, three cheers for you having a parteee!  Sounds like you had plenty of chow and (fire) crackers.  DD called this am and she really liked your green olives and tuna and crackers.  They were a HIT!  She will be in contact soon.  Hope you are lying low today and just enjoying leftovers.  No cooking.

Laura, it sounds like your fireworks might have been "talking" to Roma's display across the river.  It's great to get together.

Maryann, hope those fires become more controllable.  I heard the gov. say that any more that there was no season for fires.  They were year around happenings.

Lynn, glad you enjoyed your camping.  Know it is hard to see Scott's stuff.  DS and family were up here and we "paid our respects" to DH.  The GDS and GSS didn't really know him.  So it's kind of confusing especially for the GDS.  The oldest GS was about eight when their Grampa passed,  but the family lived in RI and before that MD. So they really didn't know DG at all. We just share with them and tell them we are paying our respects to a their Grampa.

Oh, Cook, DD also got your package and she was so happy that you had the kindness to think of her. She said she would let you know how much she enjoyed it.  She thanks you and so do I.  The temps. where she is are about 130*!!!!!!!!!  I get a heat rash writing it down.

DS just called.  They are getting their camper tent loaded up for camping.  Roma, they are going up to an area near Lynden.  They are planning on going to Mayfield Lake the end of July and hope that you and your family can make it up.  Family reunion and it could be fun for your Gkids too.  DS will be calling you if he hasn't already!

Well, I'm a chatty Cathy today.  I better get my rear out of park and into drive on... I gots lots to do!

    Have a great day everyone,

Jaz ps, is there room left for Branson for one more?
