the ones you mention are iced with a royal icing that drys hard. I am going to give you another recipe that I like better- you can choose if you want to try them.

    Iced Molasses Raisen Cookies

    3 1/4 c flour

    1 tsp baking soda

    1/4 tsp salt

    2 tsp cinnamon

    1 tsp ginger

    1/2 tsp allspice

-wisk the above together in a bowl, set aside

    1 c dark brown sugar

    1 c softened butter

3/4 c moleasses (light or dark is your preferance)

    1 egg

-beat the above in order given till fluffy.  Blend in the flour mixture-but to not over beat.

    1 1/2 c raisens

-stir into the dough.  Shape dough into 2 inch wide logs12 inches long, wrap in wax paper and chill several hours (or freeze for later use) .  Slice 1/2  inch -bake 20-22 min at 300.  Makes about 50.

    Icing

    1 c powdred sugar

    2 Tbl milk

    -drizzle over cookies

Hope you like them, they have a nice old fashioned flavor,

    Kallee

If you want smaller raisin bits more like in the Granmother's cookies just chop them up with a knife before stiring them in.

If the kids are still alive at the end of the day, then I've done my job.
