I agree about the ethnic sections of the grocery store. They're for everyone--and around here, everyone uses them. All stores--big and small--in my area have fairly extensive sections of ethnic food--various types of Asian, Indian, Latino, Jewish, among others. Most people I know, have long ago incorporated the food of other cultures into their own meals. I find it interesting that many foods that used to be 'ethnic' are now on the REGULAR aisles. One example that jumps to mind. When I started using Panko--years ago--I had to go to oriental markets to find it. Then, the supermarkets started carrying it on the ethnic food aisle. Now? It's right next to the regular bread crumbs--you cannot find it with the other Japanese food items at all. That is just so cool.
Haven't seen the color-coded bags--hope stores around here adopt that practice soon. What kind of store was it, btw? You said a 'superstore', but not the specific 'brand'. We're always on the lookout for interesting supermarkets when we travel--this sounds like one we'd love to try, if we happened to pass one.
