    • LOL !!Trying to make sure Rosie gets her coffee is becoming an obsession with me.  She will get used to the chicory in it besides mine is mixed ½ regular coffee and ½ chicory coffee.  Which reminds me I want to order some Union Coffee from New Orleans.  I have been using CDM but it is getting harder to find locally so I may be forced to order coffee.

    • Poor Shorty was starting to calm down some after the fireworks last night.  That is until we had a bad thunderstorm roll thro here about 3 this afternoon.  I knew it was coming because I could hear the thunder nearly an hour before it finally started rain.  By that time my poor baby was a basket case.  Daisy-Believe me it was not a pretty sight.  Between the fireworks and the storms he is pathetic.

    • Thought for the Day- When you take a risk and step out of the norm, you run the risk and sometimes you fail. But you only fail if you give up.-J. Peterman

    • Today is National Fried Chicken Day.  This is day to enjoy crisp and tasty, finger licking good fried chicken.

    • Fried chicken is one of America's favorite meals. Sure, we all know that fried foods are not good for us. But, fried chicken tastes ohhhhh so good. We just can't resist having it on a regular basis.

    • There's just one thing you need to do celebrate this day: Eat some fried chicken. You can have it for lunch, dinner or cold leftovers as a snack. Better still, have it for lunch, dinner, AND for a snack.

    • Special hugs and prayers for Betty, Louise and Maury, Gat and Jeanette, Mabel and Floyd, Grace, Ruth, Helen, and Anne.

    • Remember the group prayer! “Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over and care for all Cookin’ Seniors and those they love as they go about their day!!”

    • Tippy-Shorty sends understanding wags to Dakotah.  He understands perfectly.  He says he is glad you didn’t fuss as he couldn’t help it the mess.

    • Roberta-You want to make a trip this way when you finish then you can do it all over again!!

    • Sandy-Now that is the way to watch fireworks!!  I was hoping DH’s toe was better by now!!  Kona coffee is wonderful but very expensive.  Wal-mart has it if you decide to splurge!!

    • Beverly-Did you make a dent in the laundry yesterday or just move it to the laundry room and act like you cleaned!??

    • NancyB-Your 4th sounded wonderful!!

    • Helen-Quiet!! The BB as been working quite well the last few weeks.  We don’t want to upset the computer gods!!

    • Penny-Where did you go for Dinner last night?

    • Doreen-That kind of fireworks from the comfort of your living room!! Now that is the way to celebrate!!!

    • NancyZ-Blankets??? In July???

    • Ruth-I have TLW!!! LOL!!

    • Cilla-No that wasn’t you in my siggy yesterday!! It didn’t have dark hair!! LOL Sorry!!

    • Pat-Did the boys enjoy the go-cart yesterday??

    • Peg-Your potato salad sounds great!! But I can not imagine it with out pickles!!!  But will give it a try when I get carrots!!

    • Hugs and prayers for all!

    • Gosh it is nice to have friends!!  Thanks for the coffee, will be back when it takes effect (yeah yeah I know you heard that before).  I was looking for a simple piece of clip art the other day for my caching album, and fell into not one but two that hadn't harvested.  So I've been filling up the coffers with cutsie stuff.
    • Shorty, Daisy thinks you and Dakotah should come for a visit until it is past the fireworks and afternoon thunderstorm times.  She said she would invite Liza Jane if that would make a difference Dakotah.
    • Ruth, I see you sneaking in for the coffee...careful as you go my friend.
    • Grub, told you I would forget to wish Trevor a happy...sounds like he had a good one.  Enjoy the visit with your family.
    • Hugs and prayers to each of you, because YOU are loved!

Top of the morning to everyone.

Thought I would pop in early before things get stirred up around here for another day.

I am about done celebrating!  The parade was fun but I am exhausted. We actually ran out of candy as there were more kiddos than any of us expected.

The grandkids had a blast being on the 'giving' end and did a good job of "whipping it to the curb". LOL

ROSIE~~Dakotah thanks you for the place to hide out.

Tell me about your journal of the geo caching...Are you making an album/file for just that? That just sounds so fun. Still haven't heard of anything like that going on here.

ZORA~~Hugs to Shorty! Honestly these poor fur babies must think we are torturing them on purpose.

Hi RUTH~~ Sounds like you are keeping on the go again.

GRUB~~Talk about enjoying your summer. Sounds busy but wonderful. What kinds of picnic foods do you usually take? A picnic here can mean many things but I always picture the basket  of cold treats and blanket on the ground when I hear the word.

Coffee or no coffee, I'm in need of a relaxing day of rest.

Talk to you all later. Have a beautiful day.

    Image of: Hippopotamus (hippopotamus)

    Hippopotamus  FUN FACTS
Hippos were once thought to sweat blood. Actually, hippos secrete a pinkish colored oil that helps them keep their skin moist in the hot African climate.
Hippos spend most of their days in the water or wallowing in the mud, generally coming up on land to feed at night.
Hippos are efficient grazers - their lips are almost 70 cm. or about two feet wide!
Baby hippos swim the moment they are born because they are born underwater. And female hippos will actually baby-sit a group of other females babies.

Tinged with a faint orange at the very top edge before shifting shape and returning to blue/gray. Morning breeze carries a chilly touch and the wake up crow of a neighboring Rooster. Must not forget to bring in my pie plate that is on the back porch. I left it out last night, filled with cooked chicken for my "resident" family of skunks.

     68 ° with 83% humidity and a high of 90° is expected.

    Re: 07/06/08 CS's Chat

Good Morning!  It's sunny out  there right now but not sure how long it will last.  Didn't get any painting done yesterday.  We went to get a few groceries and on the way to Home Depot to get a new hedge trimmer the skies opened up with lots of thunder, lightning and rain.  Was over by time we got done at Home Depot but was too wet to do anything outside.  We had already put the new rollers on the sofa and loveseat.  That and what work DH did Friday had wiped him out.  At times he does too much when he comes to his back.  Told him it wasn't a big deal if the painting didn't get done this weekend.  And he better not do any next Saturday as I have to work.  His cardiologist told him to take a break every 10 minutes when working like that.

Well, I've got a load of towels washing and a load of underclothes drying.  Feel like going back to bed but need to vacuum upstairs and mop the dining and kitchen floors.  Then start crocheting.  When DH wakes up will start folding towels, etc - I do that in the den in front of the TV.  :D  Y'all have a great day.  Hugs and Prayers for All, Roberta :D

    Good morning, CS.

Finally, we are getting summer weather.

ZORA, coffee always needed here, and I know ROSIE will share, right, Rosie? I feel sorry for the fur babies when extraneous noises surprise them.

RUTH, you rascal, I see you eyeing the java, too. Love the biker babe siggie.

MARGARET E, Happy Belated B-day to Trevor. That was one busy week for you, but full of love being with family.

ROSIE, a geocaching scrapbook sounds very nice. Are there pics of your finds? Have you tried computer scrapping?

TIPPY, after the parade, I know who's the most tired, today. AND----it's not the kids, right? Seeing there is coffe talk with the CS, I'm glad you came to "STIR" things up. LOL

BEVERLY, hippos are  interesting animals, and they are mean, too. Hoping your ton of laundry got done.

ROBERTA, hoping your DH heeds the doctor's orders for rest. My DH needs to do exercises for his back, and I must say, so far he has been very diligent with the exercises. Your to-do list is too long for a Sunday.

PEG, I want to try your salad, too. It's very different from what I make.

MABEL, hope the tests produce some help for Floyd. Prayers for you, both.

Today our DGS, Bradley comes back for a couple of weeks. We love having him here.

Hugs and prayers for all CS.

    Nancy Z.

    • Forgot to refresh the page, so will wave at all I appear to be ignoring.

    Re: 07/06/08 CS's Chat

Good Morning!! Fried Chicken!!! Now that’s right up my alley but I try not to have it too often!!! I love cold leftovers!!! Oh, yum!!! But today we are having Low Country Boil (shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes) at the bay house…so will have fried chicken later this week (I hope!!).
Zora, Dad used to mix ½ reg & ½ chicory too!! Now, he drinks decaf… He used Community with chicory and we can find that at Winn Dixie, maybe other places. I think I’ve seen CDM but not sure…  I have a friend in Ohio that her DH came down to NOLA for a mission trip to help after Katrina that fell in love with the chicory coffee…he ran out of what he took home. I got some at WinnDixie and sent it to them. He was so happy!!! LOL       Have you asked your vet about something for Shorty & Daisy? One of our dogs would jump in the bed and get on our heads…don’t ask me why…but that is what she did…not great being sat on by a chow mix!!! ROTFLMBO He gave us some valium for her and it worked. She scratched me so bad with her nails, we had to do something. I’ve heard of using a liquid stuff (herbal) and they said it worked pretty well but we never tried that…
     All these coffee sigs…LOL
Ruth, love your sigs. A fight over TLW….yikes!!! LOL
Margaret E, good to see you….belated b’day to your DH. Enjoy the family visits…
Tippy, hope you get some rest today, friend…
Beverly, now how did you get my picture??? LOL I am laughing today with all these siggies!! That hippo pic…brought back some memories…baby sis got to feed a hippo at some place we were…when she was very little…that hippo is still there…she has taken her little girl there…   You are brave feeding skunks…LOL
Roberta, sounds like both of you need to have a rest day today!! Don’t over-do it!!!  We got a bad storm here too…we were eating Chinese and all the 2 y/o could say what “funder” over and over…he was scared.
Nancy Z, you need to rest today too…

Waving to all..filling the baskets with lots of hugs and prayers for all…

Good morning from a warm & muggy Indiana, it's supposed to get up to 90 today, will be staying in the AC.........not my kind of weather.

DH & I did our 3 mi. walk this morning, felt pretty good, glad to get back in the AC.

Zora.........we went to Long John Silvers for some good ole greasy fish last night, this place makes the best......lots of crispies to go with it.  Too funny.........we're having fried chicken for dinner today, DD is coming out, will fix some taters & gravy to go with it, will make a bowl of slaw too.  DH hungry for some chicken & sauerkraut with potatoes, will have to get a roasting chicken & put it in the crockpot for that, need broth for it.

Have a sugar cream pie in the oven, that will be our desert.

Hope everyone has a great day.
