    Star's Hot Blueberry Warm Delight

This was something I just threw together last night using the idea of the Warm Delight clone (thank you very much to whoever it was that posted that thing, I have used it SEVERAL times in the last couple of weeks)  and Bobbijo wanted more precise measurements, plus I wanted to do it for myself since it really is good. This is how I made it this morning and it's very, very good. I love hot blueberries like this anyway, and have made them many times. If your blueberries are very sweet, cut the sugar down or leave it off to your preference. Ours are always sweet/tart and so need a little bit to keep from being so tart.

This makes a large cereal bowl full so you could cut it in half if you didn't want so much...but we are talking about me and hot blueberries here, :)

Also, my microwave is 1100 watts, so if yours is not that big, you may have to adjust your cooking time. The blueberries "splatter" a little up the sides of the bowl, so if you want it to look more attractive than that, transfer them to a fresh bowl after they cook.

The taste of this is very similiar to my dump cake that you cook in the oven, just a little "juicer", which is a good thing! So if you like that, you'll like this!

    Star's Hot Blueberry Warm Delight

    1 cup fresh blueberries

    1 Tbsp sugar

    6 Tbsp yellow cake mix

    3 Tbsp water

    1/2 cup chopped pecans

Put blueberries and sugar in a microwave safe large cereal bowl. Microwave on Hi for 2 minutes. When you take it out, it will be very liquid..that's normal and to be expected.

Meanwhile, in another bowl, mix cake mix and water until it looks mixed well, but don't worry about trying to get out all the lumps. Add pecans and stir.

Dollop cake mix on top of hot blueberries in about three places. Don't try to stir it down, just dollop it on top.

Microwave for about 1 min and 40 seconds. You may need more or less depending on your microwave and how you want the cake area to look. At that amount of time, my "cake' parts were solid but a little spongy which is what I was aiming for. The hot blueberries ooze up around the cake, making a kind of pudding cake looking thing.

Now, if I'd only had some whipped cream....LOL

    Enjoy!

Oh Star, I'm drooling over here. That sounds so darn good and so easy, even my DD could make it without help. Copied!

Hey Ro! It's good to see you back on the board.

This was delicious....those hot, oozey blueberries coming up around the pillows of cake...yum! :)

Now, it might be more practical to make it in the oven the regular way if you're making it for a several people, but it's a great dessert for just one or two.

Hi Star, It is so good to be back. There are times when DD wants to make something when she has a friend over. I think this would be great.

Would you mind posting the warm delight clone?  I would appreciate it.   Thanks in advance.

You're welcome, Nadine. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Ro, I didn't think of that...you're right, it would be excellent in that circumstance. It's so easy to throw together. I bought some Cool Whip while I was out last night so I'll have some to dollop on top the next time I make it.

Nursie, here is the link to the original post. It also was posted for you on the other thread you started, so hopefully you'll see one of these:

Here is the recipe, and let me take a moment to thank mom2kohl_in_MO  since I didn't know who posted it before.

I received this today in an email. I haven't tried it yet but it looks easy and interesting.

Warm Delights Cake (6/19/2008 3:12:46 PM):  I found that you can make
your own Warm Delights very easily. Put 4 level tablespoons of any
variety cake mix in a small bowl (I used a cereal bowl). Stir in 2
tablespoons water - you may have to add a little more if it is too dry -
until well mixed; some tiny lumps are okay. You can sprinkle ice cream
topping like hot fudge or carmel over the top. Cook for 1 minute in a
microwave. Take out and let sit for a couple of minutes and it's ready
to eat. I used a chocolate cake mix from Aldi's and some Smuckers hot
fudge ice cream topping. It was a good as the real thing and by far
cheaper! You can probably make dozens of them from one cake mix

    Enjoy Big Smile

DGS is in LOVE! I had fresh strawberries…..white cake, Vanilla Mac Nut sugar (Hawaiian cane sugar), topped with ice cream.

DGS told me I’d sent his taste buds on a wonderful journey! LOL

The possibilities are endless with this recipe. I've been working through a caramel cake mix and now a chocolate. But I like the idea of the blueberries. Experimenting is so much fun! Shannon

Stick out tongue [:P] Re: Star's Hot Blueberry Warm Delight

I just made the recipe; way to good.  Now I'm going to try it with fresh pie cherries off our tree.  By the way, I used a jiffy cake mix and am estimating I'll have just enough for the cherry batch.  I would also suggest that if you have an 8" glass pie plate, it would work great.  The large cereal/soup bowl I used wasn't deep enough.

Thanks for all the great ideas, and I'm glad everyone enjoyed this. I think the bubbly, hot blueberries were just awesome in it, LOL
