    Cake and Dip

My Grandmother made a yellow cake and then topped it with warm pudding type dip.  Anyone have a recipe?  Thanks

What did the "dip" taste like? I usesd to make just a chocolate sauce to put over cake sometimes. Can you give us a little more info?

To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

I think what you are looking for is Cottage Pudding.  It is cake with a sauce over it.  We never had it here in Ohio but they served it when we stayed in Ontario.

Just run a search for cottage pudding.

Here is a link to one recipe.     http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1940,148183-245205,00.html

It was made with milk, eggs, and sugar.  It was like a vanilla pudding only not at thick.  We would have the pudding warm on top of the cake and sprinkle it with nutmeg.

We make a blueberry cake and use cornstarch pudding that we call "dip". It is usually served warm with the cake.
