    Festival Food Idea

Our town has a small festival the second weekend in August.  Our church is planning to have a booth for the first time in years.  We are planning on selling roasted ears of corn.  But we also need something to go with that.  We are looking for something unique.  Things sold here are:

corn dogs, funnel cakes, ice cream, tenderloins, sausages, nachos, snow cones, kettle pop corn

We need something easy & that's a good seller.  Anyone have any ideas?

Homemade pies would be a big seller - - Also, I didn't see beverages listed, but I'm sure someone will have them - Soda and bottled water shoud go well - Or maybe ice tea and lemonaid.

The fireman's auxillary does pies.  And also a cake walk.  Yes, there will be drinks.  We are selling cans of pop & also bottled water.

    Thanks.

    Unique, probably not.  Easy, yes.....

French fries--can be baked in oven, not fried.

Hummus w/ a baggie of pita chips or baby carrots and celery

    Bowl of chili

    Cookies

Is there any special fruit/veggie grown in your area/state?  Anything special your area is known for?  Maybe you could incorporate that into your booth/item you sell.

    Good luck.  Sounds like fun.

Peanut brittle always used to sell really welll when we had a bake sale at work.  I would always make several batches, bag it up and it was gone in an instant.  Made in the microwave, it's really easy.

    Peanut brittle

    1 cup sugar

    ½ cup light corn syrup

    1 cup salted peanuts

     1 tsp butter

    1 tsp vanilla

    1 tsp baking soda

In 2qt glass measure, combine sugar and corn syrup; stir. Cook on high for 3 ½ minutes. Add peanuts and stir well. Cook for an additional 3 ¼ minutes on med high. Add butter and vanilla, stirring well. Cook for 1 ½ minutes. Add baking soda and gently stir until starts to foam. Immediately pour onto buttered cookie sheet. Spread thinly. Cool; break into small pieces.

How about chocolate covered frozen bananas?

Cheesecake made in 13x9 pans, cut into squares or triangles and chocolate dipped?

Chocolate dipped pretzel rods, rolled in nuts, sprinkles, crushed oreos, etc.

Hmm, I must be craving chocolate today   :)

In our area lemon shake-ups are really popular.  We also have walking tacos, country ham & biscuits , & homemade fried apple pies. This is a rural county so someone is always cooking porkchops, pork burgers & ribeye steak sandwiches.

    Re: Festival Food Idea

We spent time in Malaysia where it is extremely hot and humid. The made fresh fruit juice - my favorite was watermelon. And all it was, was fresh watermelon and a little bit of sugar to taste. Pureed in a blender with ice. It's a natural hydrator. I don't know how you will be set up at the festival but I made cheesecake lollipops for a fundraiser once and they flew out the door. You just make cheesecake, chill, then scoop out cheesecake balls with a scooper, insert a sucker stick and dip them in chocolate. Refrigerate them til the chocolate sets up. If you have a way to keep things cold, this might be a good idea. Hope that helps. Shannon

At our Fall Festival in Southern IN, chicken & dumplings go over very well. Cobblers are great.

Chicken strip wraps would be easy or a chicken strips on a stick. Chili would be a good second with the hot dogs, then you could add chili dogs, with lots of onion on the side, or a bowl of chili, and shredded cheese.

    Hope this is helpful.

Do you have refrigeration? Does the Board of Health have regulations?

    Trail mix? Chex mix? Cookies?

I have never made them but people here have talked about them. Something like tacos in a bag. I believe you start with a bag of corn chips, open the bag, add a scoop of taco meat some lettuce and cheese and they eat them from the bag.

How about fruit cups.  Serve cut up fruit in a plastic glass with a spoon or make fruit kabobs.
