    • Today we wish a very special Happy Anniversary to a very special couple-Rosie and Walt.  You two kids have a wonderful day today and do something grand for just the two of you!!  But just don’t do anything I wouldn’t do! Sorry about the sig, I couldn’t find a coffee cup one!!  Shall I send Shorty over to babysit Daisy today??

    • Thought for the Day- The nobler sort of man emphasizes the good qualities in others and does not accentuate the bad. The inferior does the reverse.-Confucius

    • Today is Video Games Day celebrating popular video games that stormed onto the market, and changed the way your kids play games. From Atari to Nintendo to Xbox, video games provide all too many hours of playing time on your television set.

    • In grandma and grandpa's day, they had stick horses for toys and playtime. Today’s kids (big kids and little kids) have an enormous array of video games to play. Before you get tired of one game, another one hits the market.

    • My extensive research into this special day discovered two separately distinct dates. Also, both dates for this special day refer to it as Video Games Day and National Video Games Day. Based upon my research results, I give the edge to September 12th as National Video Games Day. Lucky gamer that you are, you get to celebrate two video games days.

    • Celebrate National Video Games Day by playing video game. If you are a big kid off from work, make this a marathon day for video games. Better still, invite a few friends and hold a competition. Just make certain that you have enough controllers.

    • Special hugs and prayers for Betty, Louise and Maury, Gat and Jeanette, Mabel and Floyd, Grace, Ruth, Helen, Cat’s sister and Anne.

    • Remember the group prayer! “Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over and care for all Cookin’ Seniors and those they love as they go about their day!!”

    • JP-try to get a little rest in there somewhere!!

    • MargaretE-Your picnics sound like they do in the states right down to the food.

    • Rosie-Going to Sam’s doesn’t sound like much of an anniversary!!  I had seen Corel bought Jasc when I was looking to see if PSP8 would work on Vista.  Elements is OK for pictures I have Elements 2 on XP but I got Elements 6 to go on my laptop with Vista, but I haven’t installed it yet.  I need to but for now I am just getting familiar with Vista and the touchpad without the mouse and the smaller screen.  DS said he would slap my hand if I didn’t learn to use the touchpad.  So I spend half my time with XP since I have the programs I use on here too.  Plus I haven’t transferred my email to my laptop yet and told no one but Cilla my new address yet.  And that was only because I had to send her something and it was on the laptop.

    • Cilla-We sure didn’t have the storm ya’ll did.  No rain at all yesterday.

    • NancyZ-Sounds like you are keeping Bradley busy!!

    • Tippy-Please be careful.  This is sounding creepier and creepier.   There are places on the internet you can get even an unlisted phone #.  Do a search for just your phone # including area code and see if it pops up anywhere.  I have done that when I just get a phone # but no name on Caller ID.

    • Penny-DD1 sounds awfully young but sometimes it just happens.

    • Pat-Prayers for your DS!

    • Peg-The mackerel was a big fillet.  So I cut it up and froze it like NancyZ suggested in saran wrap and freezer bags.  I think I will use a marinade and grill it since it is an oily fish.

    • Doreen-have a good time at the game.  Enjoy Bass Pro Shop!! The new one down here is suppose to open next month.

    • Ruth-Maybe you were think about talking to me at on TLW thread.  Now I have it again!! LOL

    • Cats-Good to see you.  Hope your DD can get the cat to eat something!!  Prayers for the young man and the baby’s family!!  What an awful thing to happen!!

    • Hugs and prayers for all!

I have made a scientific breakthrough.  Last nite I left a plate on the counter that did have food on it but had been eaten, and this morning there were ants all over it.  That proves ants have noses.  Who'd have thunk it?

Rosie, I bought banana yesterday to make your banana bread so will make it in your honor today.  It has made me famous.

My yard helper was coming today to weed the veggie bed bt it is raining so that is out.  Dern.  Nancy B

Good morning ZORA and EVERYONE! And a VERY HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to ROSIE and WALT! Wishing you many more.

Thank you for the warm welcome when I posted the other day. It was nice to "see" all of you again. I have time off work right now and have the housecleaning pretty well done and the house is nice and *** 'n span(for awhile *smile* till I get back to work full-time again).

HELEN, Eddie was so happy to see your greeting to him the other day(smile). He is still a pretty good boy and is starting to tame down a bit(will be 4 already on Sept. 29th). He listens to commands very well and loves to cuddle(smiling). The only complaint is that he gets SOOO excited when someone comes, as he loves everyone, especially the grandkids. I barely exist when they are here.

TIPPY, I hope the phone thing gets straightened out. That is scary. I actually have a cell phone(to those who are not familiar with me,  I am deaf) and use it for text messaging. I was getting texts from someone I didn't know either and was a bit apprehensive about that, although I think it was just a random thing.

I enjoyed the article on the mahi-mahi(I'm sorry to say I didn't write down who posted it and my memory doesn't last long!). I've often heard of that fish, but had never taken the time to see what they look like(very unusual!). Another lesson learned(smile).

I am off to pick up Kate(DGD who will be 11 next month). She will spend the night. I love to have her and she likes to come stay with us.

Hoping all is well with everyone. Hugs and prayers for those who need them.

    Re: 07-08-08 CS's Chat

    Good morning, CS.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, ROSIE and Walt. Celebrate and live it up.

ZORA, I think the bubbly is more appropriate than coffee this morning. I will make some Mimosa's for the group. Video Games Day? Bradley is smiling from ear to ear. He has his hand held one, one connectied to the TV and he does some on the computer. Plus, he has a Wii at home. We grill the salmon, too. I also bake it, seal it in a foil packet with herbs and spices and onions, and when we have too much, we freeze the chunks and then make canned salmon.

DOREEN, safe travels for you as you head north. Seeing Russell is a hunter and fisherman----Bass Pro Shop----- been there, done that. And, now we have a Cabela's near, too. Really close is a Sportsman's Warehouse. He and Bradley are going there tonight for a reloading seminar. Russell reloads his own ammo for pistol matches and target shooting. BTW, take a cushion for your seat.

Waving hard and long, so my wave reaches JP up north.

MARGARET E, boy, that's how some things can really turn us off. Right now, as I "matured" certain perfumes and colognes bother me. Sending a good day to you right back across the big pond.

    TIPPY, hoping the sheriff or phone company has some help for you. {{{TIPPY}}}

CILLA, we had rain up here, too, all night long.

    A stay-at-home day.

Hugs and prayers for all CS.

    Nancy Z.

    ·         Good morning!!

    ·         Thanks for the well wishes, it is 41 years today and seems like yesterday.  Now to convince him that the finale to Hell’s Kitchen is the perfect celebration J  Zora, the champagne is perfect (and of course I LOVE the dals), your coffee sent me into a cabinet/freezer/pantry cleaning frenzy yesterday and as long as I was in the kitchen I figured I might as well make banana bread.  Going to put on another couple of batches today to put in the freezer to have when the kids are here.

    ·         No Sam’s today (unless Walt goes), think I’ll clean instead and shop and cook tomorrow.  Banana breads will keep me busy enough.

    ·         I used to love my Nintendo and Super NES but then phased out as the different X Boxes, Game Cubes etc came down the road.  Too expensive not to have around.  So now it is computer games instead.

    ·         Jeane Daisy and I must have missed you the other day!  No wonder she is at the gate watching for the UPS man.  So good to see your beautiful face.  Hope we see lots and lots of you.  Sending you hugs and Eddie belly rubs, Daisy said “woof woof arf grrr woof”.  (Shorty it is ok, Daisy has always considered Eddie nothing more than a little brother)

    ·         Tippy that scares me my friend…be very very careful.  I have a safe house here if you want to come down and visit for a bit.

    ·         Doreen, I’ll think about you at Bass Pro Shop….whee.  I won’t share what I am thinking however. J

    ·         Waving toward Alberta and JP.  Good for you building in some rest times.  We need you to take care of our friend.

    ·         Grub, how funny about the crab, however I can empathize.  With me it was Canadian Bacon in 1963 that disagreed with my pregnancy.  Forty five years later and I still don’t eat it.

    ·         NanB, of course they have noses, sorry you weren’t the Marie Curie you thought you were…haven’t you seen the Raid commercial where the one can recognize smells but can’t smell the Raid?  Besides, the queen has to have something to stick up in the air to prove she is THE queen!  Hate to discourage you, but they have hung on for around 100 million plus years when they decided they wanted to be more than just an ordinary wasp…fire, flood, earthquakes, and other natural disasters haven’t killed them so they laugh in the face of the exterminator.

    ·         NancyZ, Trish makes a killer salmon in the foil bags with raspberry vinaigrette as the marinade.  It is sweet, but the lemon wedges cut it down to just plain delicious!  Bradley sounds like such fun, if I didn’t already have 6 to keep me honest I would want to grab him up.

    ·         My time is up, I’m off to find something for breakfast (directions to Cracker Barrel would work well).  Hugs and prayers to all, because YOU are loved!

Morning…we have already had a little rain and now the sun is trying to come out…supposed to get an afternoon rain too…after all…this is Florida…pop ups in the afternoons are common…
Might be going off to the outlet mall (over near Zora...in AL)  with sis but we haven’t finalized anything. Her 5 y/o DD wants to do crafts so I’ve got some to do with both kids…if we don’t go to the outlet.
Rosie, Happy Anniversary to you and Walt!! Have a great day today!! Cleaning won’t work…you are supposed to enjoy the day!!! LOL
Zora, glad you were able to freeze the mackerel. You’ll have to let us know how you cook it, etc when you do!!
Doreen, have fun at the game & Bass Pro!! Now that is one store, I don’t mind going to…I can sit, after I look, and watch the fish tank!!! LOL
JP, waving to you…get some rest…
Margaret E, sorry you can’t stand crabs…5 y/o niece loves them and is already learning to pick the meat out of the shell!! She loves the claws…we are letting her have whatever she wants…too cute!!
Nancy B, you are funny!! Glad you made such a great discovery!!!
Jeane, good to see you. Come any time you can!! That’s our Beverly…she provides us with the best pictures and lessons each day!!
Nancy Z, I’m with you on perfumes/colognes…some make me so sick. I can only wear philosophy’s amazing grace or pure grace…smells clean and fresh. But Dad doesn’t like it and makes a fuss…*shaking my head*…he does it to be mean…usually I only put on the body lotion (not strong) after showering.
Tippy, hugs to you my friend. Was yesterday any better? Is this jerk calling a lot or sporadic? There are some sick people in this world…HUGS!!!
Waving to all and filling the baskets with lots of hugs and prayers for all….

    Happy Anniversary !

Pink fairy armadillo - The smallest armadillo in the world.

    Pink Fairy Armadillo

    Pink Fairy Armadillo

The smallest armadillo, she is known mostly for her shell like armor which encases her body and her very tiny size. The armadillo tends to look a great deal like something from a fairy tale. They are usually about 4 inches long, without the tail, and are pale rosy pink their color. They sport a plume of hair in the face, and are distinguished by also having body armor in part of the under side of the animal, which is attached to the pelvic area.

Native to Argentina, they live in dry grassy areas and sandy plains where they dwell among cactus and thorny shrubs. Usually not more than 6 inches long when even larger than normal the pink fairy armadillo has the capacity to completely bury its body in a matter of a few seconds if it is afraid or threatened. These tiny animals will burrow small holes near ant colonies for a good food source, as they feed on ants and ant larvae.

    -----------------------------

Bruised, swollen smears of thunderclouds blanket the sky. Obscuring the sun with their heavy presence. I benefit, for now, with a delicious cool breeze flowing through the window next to me. Yipping mutt, speeding traffic and "I'm starving" bleats from my goats ride the wind into this room as well. Add to all that, the incessant chatter from my 14 y/o grandson--it's a bit noisy this morning.

Last night a friend was passing through town. Called and asked me to join her and her husband at a local fast food joint as she wanted to show me something. I drove over, sat and chatted while they finished eating. Then we strolled out to the parking lot. She opened the tail gate of her truck with camper shell. Asked her husband, Tom, to climb in and bag me up a few dozen eggs from her young hens that had begun to lay. (more than she could eat) She reached over and opened the door to the dog crate that was facing us and pulled out a tiny, spotted fawn and placed him in my arms. A rescue, just a few days old. Still had the drying stubble of it's umbilical cord attached. I was enthralled!! Being so young and needing to be cared for--the baby had to travel with her to work so as to be fed.

Tippy--Hope the cops/telephone co. can help. Hang in there.

70° with 78% humidity and to reach a high of 86°.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY  Rosie and Walt !!   Do something that you both enjoy, and that can't mean cleaning, LOL

Well we survived another storm last nite, this one left us with 2 3/4 " of rain.  There was lots of wind too.  I heard reports of trees and wires down all over.  Never lost power, altho the tv signal went out due to the rain blocking it.  I got quite a bit of crocheting done.  DGD was asleep on the floor since she couldn't use the computer.  She's laying on the floor beside me now waiting for me to get off here.  KIDS!!

Tippy, sure hope that there haven't been any more calls.

I agree with some smells, I can't take most perfurmes.  Most flower scents send me into an asthma attack.

Well, DGS has called several times  wanting his sis to help him download something on his cousins computer, guess I&
