Lemonade Angel Food Dessert for Dianag

    Lemonade Angel food cake dessert

    1 angel food cake, crumbled

    2 eggs, beaten

    1/2 cup sugar

    1/2 cup water

    1 envelope Knox Gelatin

    1 6-oz. can frozen lemonade

    2 envelopes Dream Whip

Heat in small pan, until thickened, the eggs, sugar, water and Knox Gelatin. Add the can of frozen lemonade (not thawed). Stir until lemonade is thawed. Cool in refrigerator until set. Whip the 2 envelopes of Dream Whip, add cooled, jelled mixture until combined. Layer some of the mixture on bottom of 9 x 13" cake pan, add 1/2 of the crumbled cake, another layer of mixture, then a layer of cake ending up with a layer of the Dream Whip mixture. Cool again until set. Cut into squares to serve.

This makes a refreshing dessert that I have taken a lot of times to a pot luck dinner. I have used grape juice concentrate or orange concentrate  to vary the taste. You can make it the day before and have your dessert ready with no last minute preparation time. Either is very good. Hope you enjoy it, if you try it.

This sounds soooo good.  Thank you, Louise.  (And, thank you for bumping, Twinkle.)  It reminds me of my favorite chocolate dessert where you also tear up an angel food cake.  And, now that I'm such an angel-food-making-fool, I'm going to try this one!

Louise, you don't happen to have an envelope of Dream Whip handy, do you?  If so, can you tell me how many ounces it is and how much milk the instructions call for to whip it up.  We can't get Dream Whip here (nor can we get Cool Whip Sad ) but we do have Dream Topping by Bird's.  It is a 36g packet and you mix it with 150ml of milk.  We can't get frozen lemonade either but I can work around that.  It's a little like camping - living in England and trying to cook like I did in the States.  You make do and find creative ways of improvising.

Twinkle, do you have Cool Whip in Germany?

    Thanks again!

    Diana

Diana, I don't happen to have any Dream Whip now, but it is on my grocery list for today. I will post the information later today for you after I get back from the store. I will post the amounts on this thread. I didn't know where you live and didn't even think about you not being able to get the ingredients. I have another Strawberry dessert that is good too, but it calls for whipping cream also. I will post it in case you would like to try it and can work around that issue.

    STRAWBERRY ANGEL FOOD DESSERT

    1 3-oz. pkg. strawberry jello

    1-1/4 cups boiling water

1 10-oz. pkg. frozen sliced strawberries

    1 TBLSP. sugar

    1/8 tsp salt

    1/2 pint whipping cream, whipped

1/2 of a 10" angel food cake, torn into pieces.

Dissolve jello in the boiling water. Stir in partially thawed strawberries, sugar & salt. Cool until mixture begins to thicken slightly. Fold in the whipped cream. Cover bottom of a 9" pan with 1/2 the torn angel food cake. Pour 1/2 of the strawberry and cream mixture over the cake. Make another layer of remaining cake pieces. Pour remaining strawberry mixture over it. Refrigerate for 4 ot 5 hours. to set. Cut into squares to serve.( You can double the recipe to use an entire 10" angel food cake. Put in a 9 X 13" pan).

Thanks for this recipe, Louise!  It sounds wonderful.  Whipping cream is easy to get here, and DH and I both love strawberries so this is a definite "Must Try" recipe.

    Thank you!

Diana, the Dream Whip box weighs 2.6 oz (73 g). You use1/2 cup milk per envelope (2 in box) and each envelope makes 2 cups when whipped. Hope this is what you were looking for.

Thanks for the information.  Know I know how much cool whip to substitute for the dream whip as my store doesn't always have it on hand!....

You're welcome Piggykins. I love your screen name. We live on a farm and have raised pigs all our life, so I have quite a collection of pig items.

Thanks, Louise.  That is exactly what I was looking for.  I think I'll put both of your desserts on a separate post (along with my chocolate recipe) so others will see them.  They won't know they are here unless they specifically open up this thread, and they sound so good I want everyone to have the chance to see them.

    Nice to see you, Piggykins.
