    Crystallized Honey...help please...

Can I save this honey?  It's all crystallized.  I swear at one time all you had to do was plop the jar in a bowl of hot water and it returned to normal.  Well, that ain't working for me.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Or, should I just dump it?  TIA!

Widdle, I'll usually take the top off and put the jar in the microwave and microwave it for 5 second increments till the honey is the right consistency. Beware though, if it's a plastic container, the plastic may start to soften (I won't go so far as to say melt).  If that doesn't work, then I'd toss it.

I also soften it in the microwave, stirring well in between the heating increments.  Usually that will do the trick, or at least close enough to make the honey useable.

It's fine!  I stick mine up by the oven vent on top of my stove (it's gas) and let it warm up while I'm baking.  The other way I've done it is in a pot of water on the stove (like you'd warm up a baby bottle) - I'm pretty sure you can microwave it too, but I've never done it.

I usually heat mine in the microwave....half power and check frequently.  Works every time.

Don't dump it!  What are you using it for?  If you are using it in hot tea, couldn't you just use it like you usually do?   I don't think honey goes bad.

Thanks everyone!  I'll try the microwave thing.   I like simple solutions.  lol.  I use it for hic-cups and hot tea.  I could use it like that in the tea..but it's not supposed to look like that. KWIM?  The jar is almost full too so I'd hate to throw it out.

Thanks again everyone for your help!

Do not throw it out.  Honey is the only natural food in the world that will NEVER go bad.  All honey will crystalize over a period of time.  All you have to do is warm it up and it will liquify again.

Look up the history of honey and you will find it never spoils or goes rancid.

(Just a little history here, archaeologists (sp) dug up remains of Egyptians and found honey that was still good.)

I do the micro thing too.  We got a big bottle at Costco awhile back & it's not cheap...so I saved it thst way.

Now...I use honey in my morning tea and I'm going thru it oh a teaspoon a day, I don't think I'll have to worry about this latest bottle we got.
