    cleaning Corelle

A friend asked me to get some advice from you- she put an aluminum pan in her dishwasher and it left a lot of marks on a Corelle dish she had in there. It looks very rusty.   She wants to know what you would use to clean it as she doesn't want to use anything abrasive as she thinks it will scratch the plate.  It's nice to know that there is a place to come with so many people who know about all kinds of things!

They actually sell a cleaner for corelle.  You might want to check a kitchen store for it.  Otherwise, maybe something like Barkeepers Friend would clean it without scratching it.

I have used Barkeepers Friend and also Clorax Soft Scrub on my Corelle.

Before she spends any money, tell her to try scouring it with BAKING SODA.  It's the most effective cleaner I've found.  It's non-toxic, cheap, non-abrasive, you have it on hand, it's anti-bacterial--and most important, it works better than most of those expensive things.  I've even gotten grape juice and kool-aid stains out of white formica with it.  It works great on those little brown/black speckles on the bottom of skillets.  It removes goo left from stickers.  Takes out gray marks left by metal utensils on the coated cast iron.  I buy it in big boxes, and don't even keep other scouring products on hand
