    Owee, I fell

In the summertime I always go barefoot. On Mon I cut a corner too short and rammed my two smallest toes into the corner of a cedar chest. Like yu do, I pulled my foot up but I kept going. I put my hand out to catch myself and the top of the cedar chest slid and down I went right on to the edge of the chest. My whole left side hurts sooo much. I think I cracked some ribs. I don't want to go to Dr. cuz what can they do, wrap me up, that I did myself. I am haveing a hard time breathing. Do you think I need x-rays? I bruise very easily so I bet in a couple of days I will be a mess.

Good Gracious, Clucksie...if you're having a hard time *Breathing* for ANY reason you'd best get some Medical Care ASAP!

    Please take care of you~~~

You could get an x-ray....My DH fell off ontop of a metal ladder last Thursday....You are sounding like him....it takes a good month or two to completely heal.....They do not do anything , like wrapping for ribs or toes....(toes sometimes)...

He almost went thru the roof at his work yesterday, just sneezing..

Mainly rest....just have to watch out so you don't puncture a lung....He did not go to the doc,,,,would of given him some pain (stronger) pills....put ice on it....and the 2nd day, he rotated with heating pad....He said it felt better with the heat...

Have to keep the grankids away ,,,,any jerking, is painful...He did go to work yesterday...just takes it easy,,,,but he did spend about 3 days in bed.....It is painful, when trying to get out of bed.

Like I said,,,,don't wrap....they do not recommend that anymore....

    Good luck....

He rotated between Tylenol and Advil....ice and heat....and plenty of rest....and don't lift or bend....

I had to put his shoes and socks on the first couple of days..

He also banged his leg up...he landed on the long metal side rail.....cutting shrubs before I could get out there.  He is black and blue on his right side...all around...

Rest up....(a hard time breathing, is a sign you did break a rib...should check out you did not puncture your lungs)

DH says it just hurts to breath.....(with him)

Also sitting in a higher straight back chair helps him...not the couch or something soft...It hurts to bend lower to sit down...so the higher chairs, or outside a hard lawn chair works for him....

    Re: Owee, I fell

A couple years ago, I fell and cracked a rib. I am not sure if it was because of where I cracked it, (in the back, right near the spine), but the doctor said I would have much less pain if I did not lie down.  I did find it much more comfortable to sit as upright as possible. I slept in a recliner, partly reclined, but more straight than reclined. No, they did not tape it........as Zakons said, that is no longer suggested. let me be clear........I did not move much, work, etc. But, the more vertical my chest was, the better I felt.

Sorry you and Zakon's DH are in pain.

Oh Clucksie, how painful that must be!  Please get to the e.r. or doc ...

there could be other injuries.  and they're right, wrapping the ribs is not recommended, and especially not a good idea to try it yourself.  Please get it checked, this is nothing to fool around with!

Good healing thoughts to you (no hugs, that would hurt  Tongue Tied )!
