You could get an x-ray....My DH fell off ontop of a metal ladder last Thursday....You are sounding like him....it takes a good month or two to completely heal.....They do not do anything , like wrapping for ribs or toes....(toes sometimes)...
He almost went thru the roof at his work yesterday, just sneezing..
Mainly rest....just have to watch out so you don't puncture a lung....He did not go to the doc,,,,would of given him some pain (stronger) pills....put ice on it....and the 2nd day, he rotated with heating pad....He said it felt better with the heat...
Have to keep the grankids away ,,,,any jerking, is painful...He did go to work yesterday...just takes it easy,,,,but he did spend about 3 days in bed.....It is painful, when trying to get out of bed.
Like I said,,,,don't wrap....they do not recommend that anymore....
Good luck....
He rotated between Tylenol and Advil....ice and heat....and plenty of rest....and don't lift or bend....
I had to put his shoes and socks on the first couple of days..
He also banged his leg up...he landed on the long metal side rail.....cutting shrubs before I could get out there. He is black and blue on his right side...all around...
Rest up....(a hard time breathing, is a sign you did break a rib...should check out you did not puncture your lungs)
DH says it just hurts to breath.....(with him)
