    Hello sisters!

Friday night, dh decided that we would all eat supper at Chili's. It was good!

On Saturday, we went garage saleing. We got an aquarium and stand, a pretty bowl(good for salad or a trifle) and two framed prints of cottages.

Today, I had a garage sale but it was pointless. In four hours, we had like 8 people and only made $2. I spent more on the signs! LOL! We decided to give some of the clothes to a neighbor girl who really seemed to appreciate them. The rest of the stuff will probably go to a thrift store.

We also went and looked around the outside of a house that we may be interested in. It's on 2 1/2 acres and is just outside of town(which feels like country.) We need to get an appointment to see the inside though. We live in a condo now and with 3 kids you could say it's "cozy".I really like living here but we really would like to have a house to call home.A place we could decorate and make our own.

I hope all of you have a wonderful, blessed week!

    Hugs all around!

    Hello Sisters!!

I hope that everyone had a fantastic weekend!!

    Mine was pretty wonderful.

I was planning to go to work on Saturday, but that never happened!! Thank God my PT job is so flexible. As long as I show up one day during the weekend they don't care which day. Anyway, first thing in the morning the phone rang - my DD got a job!!!! It's only part-time and temporary, but it's a start!! After we got her off to work (they wanted her to start right away) I took DS to Costco. We needed gas and a couple of other things.

On the way back we stopped at the Dollar Store!! Wow, I hardly ever get into that store, so I always forget how much fun it is! I spent waaaay too much money in there! After that DS and I went home to wait for DD. When she came home we talked her into going shopping (today, Sunday, is my dad's birthday and DD promised to cook dinner for him).

On the way to the store we decided that we should go to a movie before going shopping.Big Smile We went and saw Get Smart... has anybody seen it? I was ROFLOL!! I was a huge fan of the TV show back in the day, and I recently rented Season One so the kids would know what was going on, in case there was a bunch of references. We all really enjoyed it. After the movie we did our shopping and came home.

Poor DD! She decided that instead of making lasagna in the heat of the day she was going to make it right then! It was 11:30 when she finished last night!!

This morning DS and I made some Deviled Eggs and then he went to work with me. (My part-time job is bookkeeping for an office that is open M-F and it's in a converted house with a pool, so the kids like to go with me sometimes) After work we went came home to get ready for Grandpa's birthday.

At Grandpa's house (our house is too small to fit 6 grown adults comfortably ~ especially in the summer!!) Grandpa's older sister has been visiting for the last couple of weeks and we ended up celebrating not only my dad's birthday but the whole family's birthdays and Christmas as well. It was really fun!!

DD got a beautiful pair of earrings and a necklace for her birthday and two HUGE bags of dog food Christmas (she's responsible for HER dog, but she's been out of work, so they were trying to be helpful). DS & DD got cash for their Chistmas presents, too. DS also got minutes for his prepaid cellphone for his birthday. He got something else, too, but for the life of me I can't remember what! LOL! That's gonna bug me for a while.

I got a gift card for Safeway for my birthday - that's always handy to have, especially with 2 teenagers in the house. For Christmas I got a BEAUTIFUL hand crocheted shawl in wine with pink accents!!! WOW!!

After presents it was time for dessert and then home.

    ConnieD53:

Good morning to all of you, and especially my SS's.  I'm having trouble with this round because I can't find out too much about my SS except where she lives  and maybe two or three other things.  So post post post!!!

I know how you feel, Connie, my SS doesn't seem to ever be on here, except when she is posting a thank you - very frustrating!! Have you read through a bunch of her old posts? I'm trying to do that with mine, and it's helping!

Betty - sounds like you're having a good time! Glad to hear it.

Rebecca Lee - Sorry to hear the little one isn't feeling well. I know how that is. Love the pics of your birds!! They're so adorable!!

Jeanie - I've read both Lynn's description of the day and your sisters... Sounds like it was a great day for everyone!! I'm so glad!!

(((Nancy))) - Happy thoughts and prayers for your DGS and his parents! I hope that everything will work out. As for your phone... No it wasn't the sweat!! My DD accidentally jumped into the swimming pool with her cellphone in her pocket - once it was completely dry it worked fine!!

Hi Evie!! Sounds like your weekend was good, too! Big Smile

I hope you all had as wonderful a weekend as I did!! But now I'm off to bed.

    Sweet dreams,

    Marcie

    Good Morning, Sisters!

Nancy, I have your little grandson in prayer for today~bless his little heart.

Cindi, the paint on your rv is great~I am so glad your hives are better. Itching is awful!

Redawna, your photos are wonderful! That one photo caption really bothered me when you mentioned that 50 years ago the valley was covered with the glacier~I think that was how it was worded. 50 years ago wasn't all that long ago and I hate to think how our earth is SO constantly changing!
I can only imagine how beautiful all of it was but I do know you are fortunate to be able to see that beauty.

Rebecca, have you had any help with posting pictures? I will have some time to send you a pm on the steps when I get back from the @$#% dentist later. You can resize them once posted by going in on the edit of your post and clicking on them...drag one of the corners in to make it smaller~when finished, click post again.

Jenn, that owl was out early-maybe you caught it still napping?  Owls in our area are out at night and feed-And they get big! We have had they swoop in front of us if we are out and it just about scares the whoopsie out me! lol
Marcia, enjoy those eagles! Sometimes they get our way but not too often...and when they do, they don't stay for long. People have stopped the cars just to watch them fly over.
We used to have a lot of hummingbirds, but I think Gracie has intimidated them so not many hang around like they used to.
Janet-we used to have a clothes line to hang clothes but we have SO many birds~dumb birds~that made it their job to fly over the clothes and do their 'job' so my I can't wait to hang the clothes out came to a screeching halt! Their 'radar' for a direct hit was impeccable!

Nancy, how is that for a relaxing vision!

Major Betty~how interesting! When you have time, you will have to tell us more about that! Glad you are having some fun~

Mary Ann, I cannot believe the heat and smoke in your area~it must be stifling!

Jeanie, I am so glad that you and Heidi got to meet with Lynn! I was waiting to hear all about it and I am always so happy when Sisters get to actually meet!

Corinne, those long hours are killer! How is your new home and first garden doing?

Tina, I haven't had a garage sale in years~They are a LOT of work...I love going to them but hate having them. Guess I will hold on to all of my 'stuff' and let the kids sort through it someday! lol

Susiebear, you KNOW I love ya~I haven't had time to talk to anyone lately and it is driving me crazy! Hope all is well with you!

Ruth, I hope the summer is being nice to you!

Today is my morning at the dentist~He said it will hurt so I must have been dreaming about it and had my teeth clenched TIGHTLY all night! They actually hurt this morning from clenching them!
I worked outside yesterday and it was so windy AGAIN, it wasn't pleasant but got a lot of yard work done so hopefully that will hold it for awhile. We have had so much rain this summer, the grass is still growing and that is unusual for July. The ol hippie didn't feel well Saturday~it was cooler but very humid and it really knocked the socks off him. It really scared me but Sunday he was feeling better. WHEW

Waving to everyone~have a great and safe week~

Good morning ~ headed for Curves.

I have to tell you about yesterday….I bought a John boat that I use to call a john deere boat because of it’s color and my stupidity …I was raised around tractors ~ not boats. *very big grin*

Well….My son in law loves it and getting behind the wheel or unloading it? Oh my gosh! NO "he" does it all….. DH, grandson and I went out yesterday just the three of us…..LOL we did get it unloaded but couldn’t get it started…..

When DGS and I went to Bass Pro I found the cutest floatable key ring instead of the faded one that came with it…..well ~ DH and I took everything off the boat ~ changed the plugs still not firing. He said we were going to take it to the boat shop, Monday ~ NOT what I wanted to hear -- I wanted to go out and go out right then!

LOL He called a friend of ours that owns a bait shop and avid fisherman….he listened and said…..”Did you flip the kill switch”? OMG! When I took that ugly key chain off I knew it was caught on something under the key. *snorts* Off we went with our red faces…..hee hee

I’m NOT the one that has to face *perch* when we have to go to the bait store but I can guarantee you DH is going to be carried high. *giggle*

I keep telling anyone that looked at us we don’t know anything about small engines…..so treat me like a third grader with a new toy ~ they were always very helpful and thankfully waited until we pulled away before they broke out into uncontrollable giggles!

     Marcie,

I found it at Ben Franklin.  They had lots of them there--pillowcases, table runners, quilts.  All sorts.  You are right, apparently companies think that cross stitch is only for folks with very young eyes!  lol

Peace, Love and Hugs to all.

Just popping in to say "Good Morning!"

I have to be quick here . . . as I have an eye Dr appointment in 15 minutes . . . so I better be leaving in 5 minutes!

We have a pregnant cat, and I'm wondering if her time is coming soon . . . she seems to be lingering around a bit more . . . and not wanting to go outside. I have NO CLUE as to how long she's been pregnant or when to expect things to happen . . . or even WHAT TO DO!!  (I'm going with the theory that she can take care of herself.)   (Normally, they're outside cats during the day, and we bring them in at night - to protect them from coyottes)  Anyway, I took all the rags/towels out of the inside box and the outside box . . . taking them to the laundermat to get them cleaned and ready.

My heart goes out to those of you who have a SS who doesn't post.  I had that same experience last round and practically begged my (receiving) SS to post . . . but it didn't help.  It wasn't any fun at all.  Let that be a lesson for all of us . . . unless everybody gets involved . . . SOMEBODY is going to get somebody who doesn't post . . . and next time it might be you.  POST . . . POST . . . POST!!!  You don't necessarily have to reply to the previous posts . . . if you have just a few minutes - just tell us what's happening in your neck of the woods.

Here's my challenge for RIGHT NOW . . . if you read this post . . . then go ahead and post a post . . . even if it's just a few sentences . . . somebody out there is going to greatly appreciate it!!

    Ut oh - out of time . . . I better go.

I hope all of you have a great day and a wonderful week!

    Re: (¯`*•. Secret Sister Chat July 13-19, 2008 ¸.•*´¯)

hello ladies!  I'm back!  Thank you so much for your prayers and well wishes on the post about my Gramps.  It has been a very long week.  I've been home from Mexico one week today and yet I've only been at my home for 2 nights.  I've had a headache since last Tuesday or so.  it hasn't seemed to go away for very long periods of time.  If I still have it tomorrow, I'll go to the doctor and get something stronger.  I know it's mainly my sinuses that are causing it, but I'm pretty sure stress is a major culprit as well.

The funeral was yesterday afternoon.  If you can call a funeral good, it really was.  The service was both funny and sad.  I spoke and talked about the things that made my Gramps so special.  My uncle spoke and explained some of the things going on in the world during my Gramps' lifetime that shaped him.  Our pastor ended up with a very special passage.  Several years ago, he had asked the elder members of the church to write some words or a testimony to be given to the teens when they graduate high school.  Words to encourage them.  Unfortunately, only 2 people submitted something.  Lucky for us, my Gramps was one of those 2.  So he read my Gramps words and they were beautiful.  The pastor said that basically, Gramps preached his own funeral.  And he really did.  Everything was just perfect.  We sent him out in style.

So many people have come to me the last few days and told me such wonderful things about my Gramps.  You know, I know that my Gramps is wonderful, but to hear those same things from others really brought it all home for me.  When I called my best friend in TN to tell her that Gramps had passed away, she cried with me.  When we were growing up, she always came to church with me and sat with my grandparents.  She told me that when she thinks of my Gramps, she thinks of being in church with family.  So when I wrote my eulogy, I included that.  for my Gramps, church and family were synonymous.

As you can see, I'm really going to miss my Gramps.  He was a very special man.  I'm just grateful that I was home and that it didn't happen on my brother's birthday.

I guess i should close this up.  I've written a lot this morning.  To my SS that sends to me......I apologize, I have not been to the post office since I've been home.  I will head out there today, I promise.  I don't know if you've sent anything yet, but please forgive me for not posting or thanking you (as the case may be).  I have felt everyone's prayers and I appreciate them.  You all mean so much to me!

    I'll be around more now.

Nancy--My daughter had to get an echo cardiagram(sp?) or something I don't remember but I they gave her was some liquid stuff which she fought but it wasn't as infacive as some others!!!!  It just made her sleep better for once!!!!!!  It's the waking up right after that is hard and heart breaking.  They just seem to cry and are so out of it.  My son when he was younger went all the way under and when he woke up he was swinging at me and the nurses, my daughter just cried and kinda flopped around ( she was about 10 months).   Prayes for your grandson, parents to keep them strong and you also.

Well I need to get busy!!!!!  Cleaning, baking and more cleaning!!!!

A big HI to all my sisters & especially my 2 secret sisters!!!

I have been out of touch for a few days & feel like I am so far behind on everything.  I have been working some really crazy hours lately.

On Friday we had some huge storms roll through our area.  I was working & did not know what was going on outside as I work in a sub-basement...anyway, when I was on the bus going home, my roommate called & said that the power was out in our house & had been since about 8:00.  We decided to head out & have a Juicy Lucy Burger at a little bar not far from the  house, they had lights...it was pretty muggy & warm on Friday night so it was not fun being without electricity...i usually have a fan blowing on me at night & am so used to it that trying to fall asleep without it was very hard.  We finally got our lights back Saturday at 11:30 AM.  Thank goodness we have a coffee shop only 2 blocks from home so I could walk up there to get a cup of coffee when I got up!

One of my best friends came over on Saturday.  We are making some jewelry for an Autisim (sp) benefit that is happening in 2 weeks.  We had a lot of fun beading.  We grilled some chicken that I had marinated in an Apricot/Chipotle sauce that was really good.  All in all a very nice Saturday..& the humidity went down as well.

I hope everyone is doing well.  I dont think I can catch up on everything at this point so I will just move forward from today & try to check in everyday to stay on top of things.

    Take care everyone, be safe!

    Hugs,

    Maggie

Good morning all my sisters. The start of another busy week for all of us. Still a chance of rain through Wed here. Sure hope we get some!! I do love the rain!! :)  Nothing really planned for this week. I hope to get to the new Michaels sometime this week.

I agree with everyone.....POST POST POST. I know I don't do as much as some of you....but I try to check in each day.  I do wish mine would post!!  You're right....it's not much fun when you don't see any posts from them!!

I'm afraid my week has started on a rather sad note yet again.  A couple who has always been considered family (he was raised by my dad's family) are in Mississippi on vacation. They were in a car accident this morning. We think Frankie is ok....but his wife Judy died before they got to the hospital. They pastor a church in Fontana, California. So a lot of people are going to be effected by this. 3 of their kids live in Fontana. I think they were visiting the son back there. Please keep the family and church in your prayers.

WEll I hope all of you have a great week!!  Hugsssssssssssssssssssssssssssss Evie
