    Good morning!

I woke up at 3:30 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep, so up I am!  It's my Monday, so you all know what that means.  WORK!  Today I'll just call my three inmate clerks in.  Our library has been rennovated so that it's supposedly safer for me, but it sure is a mess right now.  We're hoping to get back to normal programming on Thursday.

It looks like we'll be going to Missouri in October, for a family reunion.  Actually, we had our first "Snider Reunion" 11 years ago and it began with family members doing their genealogy (I've been doing mine for 25 plus years).  They're lots of fun.  Anyone have Snider's in their family tree?  Anyone else do genealogy?

Not much happening around here.  I do believe I lead a boring life.  LOL!

    Joyful hugs,

I am home from my overnighter at AC; got home very late last night and had to unpack/clean up.  I just woke up to let the dogs outside.  Going for a shower now and some running to do then I will come home and read the newspapers I missed and my mail.  But I had to stop and post a very special bithay wish first.  I'll try to check in later and see what everyone is up to.

    Take care!

    Good Morning Sisters!

I’m sneaking a little internet time – then it’s off to the laundry to wash the cadet’s uniforms.  I got lucky this year – just doing the female cadet’s in our flight.  Let me tell you, it gets a little dicey doing the male cadet’s laundry!  Maybe dicey isn’t the right word – let’s try gamey?

Things are going well – we’re getting good qualifying launches, and most of the cadets are very focused and serious – we have one that’s a little young for this program.  If the Lord keeps the weather good, and stay on track building, we should have them successfully completing the program by Thursday.

CJ – How was VBS?  That is always a fun time!  We haven’t had ours yet.  Don’t you just love watching the kids?  Fun to watch the adults as well.

China – glad the headache is gone, and that you have a new washer – hey – do you want to try it out for me?  I could give you all the laundry bags….

Micki – {{{HUGS}}} – I’m sorry to hear about your “Gramps” – it sounds like you have wonderful memories to cherish!

WHOA – you should be here – there is a C-17 Globemaster getting ready to take-off.  That is one incredible airplane!!!  The ground is shaking (or else we’re having an earthquake!)

I am a happy camper - a couple months ago, I broke my favorite tea mug - it was an Air Force one - oversize - a the prettiest blue color.  Since we're on base, I was able to find another one - especially good since I broke by back-up tea mug as well!  I always keep two going, that way I always have tea around somewhere!

Well, sorry I couldn’t answer all the posts – prayers for all in need, though.  I like being able to read the posts in my e-mail box.

Take care – and keep your eyes to the skies!  We have amateur rocket scientists launching!

    Betty

Hey Sisses, Hope you are all doing o.k. today. I told myself I would keep up this week and its already Tuesday!  I'll just start today!  Not a lot going on today.  I have already had the air conditioner guys here finishing fixing my a/c and furnace that they started last week. They just now got the other part in. Luckily they were able to fix it last week where it would cool, but they had to come back and put in a circuit board or something like that.  I took the boys swimming yesterday, so we will probably just stay home and try to get some work done. I got the front yard mowing done yesterday but still need to do the back.

Hope you have a good day at work, Connie.

Hope your story time goes well, Evie.  My kids enjoyed story time when they were younger.

Karen, glad you made it home safe.  I want to hear all about your trip. I definitely could use some exciting stories because as you can see above from my post it is pure non excitement around here these days. lol.

Marcia, I love your blog so much.  I have to check it everyday.  I made the Chipotle Roast and it is fabuloso. Dh gave it 2 thumbs up as well.  Will definitely be making it again.

Hope you all have a good day!

    hugs!

Good Morning to ALL The Sisters!!!!

We are waiting for Ron's DB and SIL to come for a short visit.  They have a yellow lab, who I am sure, will scare my little doxie, who is a big baby anyway.....LOL Guess we are going out later for a good supper to celebrate Ron's birthday tomorrow.

Amy, that note to self was so funny!!! Why do we do things like that??? You are not alone, that is for sure!!!!  We are still laughing at me taking Tylenol PM by mistake.   I took some typlenol from Mom's table, not thinking she had tylenol pm.  Well, I took it and fell sound asleep till the next morning.  I took two pills so that really knocked me out pretty good!!! LOL  I will never live that one down!! LOL

Redawna, you pictures are just AWESOME!!! Thank you for mailing them to me!!!

Hope everyone is doing okay!!! It is warming up today and I am happy about that. Gotta get those tomato's ripe!!

Hugs to my two Special Sisters!! Hope all is well with you!!!!

Betty, sounds like you are having a great time!  My Dh chaperoned my sons group of boys to the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, and stayed in a room with 5 or 6 of them. I bet that got kind of "gamey".  ha.  They had a great time, and ds even got a video of his "mission".  Enjoy the rest of your week.

    hugs

Connie- I dabble in genealogy when I have time. My Mothers Dad left home and basically abandoned her family when she was small. We have been trying to find info on him ever since. Someone just told me that he spent some time in the Montana State Prison system. I have been trying to find out if records like that are available to the public. Maybe you know?  I don't think I have Snider's so far in my family tree. But I have found past family members in Missouri!!

Betty - I love watching the jets and other military planes. Not much activity like that around here. My youngest DD lives by an Air Force Base, so I see plenty when we visit her. They are just so fun to watch. Love to go to Air Shows in Utah when we get the chance.

    Have a great day!!   Kate

     Mornin', Sisters!

Just popping in quick to say hello. I've not been feeling so great and with heat and humidity moving back in, well, let's just say it's not helping! Anyway, I needed to update the 'Travelin books and thought I'd stop by to let you all know you're in my thoughts and prayers. Could use a few myself about now. This darn migraine doesn't seem to want to let go and it's getting really old really fast! :o)

Terri, I am so glad that you tried it!  I love that!  It isn't toooooo spicy hot and so flavorful.  I love having the leftovers, because it is easy to pack in a container and put in DH's lunch for the next day!   LOVE LOVE good ol' crockpot meals.

A big HI to all my Sisters!

I am home today with a migraine.  Seems like there are a lot of us out there with them lately.  Mine has dulled since this morning so I think I am going to make it.  I am finally going to catch up on the posts!

Redawna, I finally had a chance to look at your pics from your trip.  They are fabulous.  I especially LOVE the waterfalls.  I took a trip with my best friend many years ago.  We were in Portland OR & went up into the mountain there & saw some fabulous waterfalls.

Kay, I'm sorry to hear you are not feeling well & have a migraine...I hope yours is feeling better by now.  I can relate to how miserable they can be.  Thanks for keeping up on the Travelin Books...I am excigted to get The Choice.

Amy, Sounds like you have a very busy day ahead of you.  You had mentioned that your hubby wants a flat top stove but you had heard they were hard to clean.  I have had 2 of them, unfortunately I don't have one now, however they are fabulous.  They are probably the easiest stove top I have ever had to keep clean.  I would not hesitate to get another one.

Mary, Your story about taking the Tylenol PM instead of regular Tylenol was pretty funny...I did that at work one day...it was tough staying awake til the end of the day..LOL.  Im sure you were able to get some much needed rest.  Enjoy your visit from you family.  That sound like fun!

Terri, I hope they get your airconditioning fixed soon!  We live in a duplex & the landlord told us when we moved in we would have 3 window airconditioners..one for the living room & one in each of the bedrooms...we finally got them installed last week.  We have had some pretty hot/humid days here so I was certiinly thankful when they finally got installed.  Chipotle Roast??  How do you make that?  Recipe please if you would!  Sounds fabulous!

Betty, I don't drink tea but am a coffee addict...I had to laugh when I saw your post that you always have 2 cups around...sounds like me...I would like to put a "clapper" on my cup so I could find it when I put it down sometimes!

Evie, have fun at your Story Hour Party...I was so sorry to hear about your friends, I  will add them to my prayers.

Connie, we have no Snider's in our family.  I am not into the Geneology, my brother has done an extensive family tree for both sides of our family though & I find it pretty interesting.

Rene, enjoy your night out with the ladies at the cabin.  I used to belong to a Book Club & we would go to one of the women's cabin every summer.  We had a lot of fun.  I know you will too!

Maryann, I am so sorry that the smoke & fires are still so bad in your area.  I hope the wind shifts & blows some of the smoke away very soon.

China, Im glad to hear your headache is goine & you are feeling better.  Also happy to hear your ordeal with the washer is finally over after 3 weeks!  That is awful.  You mentioned Pineapple Delight...what is that and how do you make it?  It sounds like something I would love to try.

Jeanie, I hope all goes well with your MIL's scan.  I enjoyed your story about your mom & lawn bowling.  My mom passed away a few years ago & I have so many fond memories of our time together.  I really miss her...sometimes a girl just needs her mom!

Kathy, have a wonderful time at your family reunion.

Willie, I love garage sales.  I have to agree that it is getting harder to find "good" stuff.  I have found that when I see a sign that says something like, "HUGE SALE", they usually have nothing but "junk" and are usually pretty small.  I have never had any luck in having a garage sale but sure do love to go to them every chance I get...One mans garbage is another mans treasure.

RichlinKy, sounds like your trip to Phoenix & the Grand Canyon was alot of fun.  You are right about the heat though.  I used to live in Phoenix & it is just flat hot...everyone told me it's a dry heat...that is true but 110 degrees is still 110 hot degrees.  I lived in Kingman AZ for about 8 years when I was younger...it is about 100 miles from Las Vegas.  It was a bit cooler there than Phoenix.  The Grand Canyon is very beautiful..did you actually go down into the canyon?  I have never done that.

I have no plans for today since I was not intending to be home until I woke up.  I will probably do up the dishes that are in the sink & maybe throw in a load or two of laundry.  I still want to make some more jewelry for the Autisim Benefit in 2 weeks so maybe I will work on that while I have the TV on today.

Hope all my Sisters have a wonderful, productive day.  A special HI to my 2 new Sisters!

    Hugs & prayers,

    Maggie

Life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes. So have fun, think good thoughs, learn to laugh at yourself and count your blessings.

    Re: (¯`*•. Secret Sister Chat July 13-19, 2008 ¸.•*´¯)

     Good Afternoon Everyone! Cool

It is HOT here today but worse than that it is so humid.  I've been doing lots of laundry today and went to Sams this morning to get some things.  I got a chicken to roast for dinner but I'm not sure how I'll flavor it yet.  And I think I'll make a strawberry pie for dessert.

Here is another one of the new recipes I've tried lately.  This one is from the  Cherished Recipes Ukrainian cookbook.  I really liked this dish-and I know I'll make it again.

    Honey Garlic Chicken

    1 chicken-cut up ( I substituted 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts)

1/2 t garlic powder (I used a little bit more than this)

    1/4 c brown sugar

    1/4 c soy sauce

    1/4 c liquid honey

Lay cut up chicken pieces in a pan.  Mix ingredients and pour over chicken.  For best results allow to marinate overnight.  Cover and bake at 350 for 1 1/2 hours.  Unocover for the last 15 minutes.Serve this dish with rice to soak up the sauce.

Connie- Sorry you couldn't get back to sleep this morning-I hate it when that happens to me.  I would really like to do genealogy but I don't know how to start.  My grandma really wants me to figure out how to do it and find out more about her side of the family.

Evie- story hour party sounds so fun!  I bet the kids have a great time. Big Smile

Betty- Sounds like we're both busy with too much icky laundry.  I still have a few piles (and one small mountain) to go through myself.

Mary- That is so funny what you said about taking the tylenol pm.  I keep that on hand too and it really does knock you out.  Hope you have a great day.

Amy- From now on you will constantly be begged for Webkinz.  My little sister and little cousins and all the girls in my dance class are crazy for them.

Kay- Hope you get feeling better soon.

    Hello to everyone I missed!

     Hi Maggie,

We must have posted about the same time.  I got the pineapple delight recipe from my last SS Redawna.  Unfortunately a big mouse (DH) had nibbled away half  of my graham crackers so I couldn't make it last night.  But here is the yummy recipe:

    Pineapple Delight

    32 large marshmallows

20 oz. can of crushed pineapple

    1 c milk

    30 graham wafers

    1 pint whipping cream

    5 T butter

Melt marshmallows in teh milk, stirring frequently, set aside to cool.  In the microwave melt the butter.  Crush graham crackers and mix with butter, reserve 3 T of crumbs for the topping.  Press mixture in the bottom of a 9 X 13 pan.  Drain the pineapple.  Whip the whipping cream.  Mix the whipping cream, melted marshmallows and drained piineapple together. Pour this mixture over the wafter crust.  Sprinkle with the reserved crumbs.  Chill before serving.
