Would it cost me to contact Equifax, Experian and Transunion???

Since the mess with just4hair.com I am now worried about my creidt card # being in their hands.  Should I contact those 3 places to see if they could put fraud alerts on my file  for FREE?

I did it for our son when his college contacted us that some PRIVATE & PERSONAL records information may have been accidently released on public sites.

No, but if you send a letter you should send it "return receipt requested" so you have proof they got it.

Since E., E., & T are only for 90 days I'm going to cancel our credit card and ask the credit union to issue us another one with a different #.  That's the only way I'll feel like better about this.

I think that's a good idea.  Just call the 800 number on your card and be prepared to enter "menu hell!"  Be sure to ask if any charges are on there - like ones you didn't make.  I had my wallet stolen and it took less than 10 minutes for the thief to charge over $1,000.  Thankfully I wasn't liable because I called right away and changed the account.

If you go to each of the Credit Reporting company's web sites you can get your credit report for free.  It will tell of all inquiries to your credit, high/ low balances and any balances due,  and load of other information.  They will however charge you if you want your actual credit score, it's not all that much.

You may even be able to do what you want at their sites.

Cancelling your credit card can have an effect on your credit rating. Even if you open another one. The length of time you have had credit matters. Barbara

Here's some help to avoid "Menu Hell":   http://gethuman.com/  It tells you how to bypass and the "Press X for abc"...it works too!
