    Hello Everyone:

Hauke:)Big SmileFirst I want to say thank you for the wonderful visit we had...what a great time at the beach.  Thanks for making my birthday so special.  I feel much more rested.  We are leaving Sun. morning to go to Tiller, where I will get to see Tillerbrat.  It will be so much fun to get caught up on all the family news and get to hold her newest GS.

Glad you hear you got Heather moved.  Sorry about DF.  Maybe someday he will grow up.

Spent yesterday afternoon and this morning in workshops.  They were really great.  One was Nurse Anestheti (msp) that talked about what kinds of tubes get put down our throats during surgery and how they might affect vocal folds (some people call the chords).  She also suggested letting the surgeon and anesthiologist know that we use our voices in earning our living (just like they use their hands).  Then a workshop on using technology to connect to our students.  Like facebook, utube, etc.  Today's workshop was on focusing and awareness and performance anxiety...for us and for our students.  The presenters were very interesting and made alot of sense.

Hauke:  YES THE SHED IS FINALLY ON IT"S WAY!!!  Yippee!!!  The posts are in place and the boards are screwed into the concrete.  We are ready now for lumber, and going up.....!!!!Big Smile

Talked to Ross tonight.  He had a fun day...he played "war games".  I am sure it is fun when the bullets are blanks.    Probably alot like playing paint ball.

Well, best head to bed.  Ann and Curt are coming tomorrow and we have a wedding of a long time friend to attend on Sat.  Then to Tiller on Sunday for a week of camping.

Thanks again Hauke.  Although I haven't had alot of sleep....I am feeling more rested emotionally and mentally.

    Love to all Pill

Good Morning Hauke, Jill, MIchelle and ALL To Follow!!!!!!!!!!!!

TGIF.........You are right!! Were did the week go?  Where did the summer go? It is all going too fast!!!!

Jill, I am glad you and Hauke had such a nice visit!! Glad you are feeling more rested too.

Darla, my DH has A Fib and takes meds for that, but they are not as your Dh.  Can the doctor help you out with more samples???  We ask our doctor all the time for samples, which he will give if he has the pills. So far Ron's meds have not had to be changed except, he decrease one of the blood pressure pills.  Ron likes his salt too and uses way too much, but if I say anything, he tells me he as cut down.....yeah right? LOL Ron's meds run us about $350 a month, which is quite a bit too.  They sure know how to charge you for these expensive meds don't they?

Good Morning, Miss Michelle!!! How are you doing? The coffee is ready and tasting so good!! Coffee How is everything going for you??

Not alot new here.  We enjoyed a fairly quiet day yesterday....LOL No phone calls from NSDS. (see Michelle, I now have a NSDS (LOL) NSDS and his wife better get their act together, that is all I can say.  It seems no matter what age your kids are, they still have huge problems and can cause alot of uproar...if you let them!!!!!!!

Today, starts my diet!! I have had enough of eating whatever I wanted and decided, I am not gaining all my weight back.  Garden is coming along nice and I have lots of veggies from the Farmers Market......diet starts today!!  Anyone want to join me???

    Hugs,

    Mary

Darla – Prices for prescriptions are so high.  I hope everything works out.  My sister wears support hose daily and she can really tell a difference in how her legs/feet feel.

Hauke – You've had a busy week. I hope you have a nice quit Friday.

Jill - *waving to you*  It sounds like you all had a good time at the beach.

Mary – Good luck with your diet.  You did so well with your smoking, that I know you can do the diet.

Marge - I'm sorry I missed you last evening.  Sad  Yes, I was at work.  I hope you are having a good time.

I'm not walking today.  I know I should, but I'm getting so frustrated.  I walk and I eat the right things and I'm still not losing.  It is warm out there, although not as warm as yesterday.  Maybe I'll change my mind later and go to the gym.

    Good Morning Group!

Hope everyone is doing well! Personally, I didn't get out of bed until 9:50 a.m. (which is totally out of character for me) due to being awake most of the night sick to my stomach! Truthfully, I think it was a combination of stress, knowing I'm going back in to the office Monday & what will be waiting for me &, as many, money issues.

DARLA: I pray for the same miracle (financial) every day. We, like you, don't want to be rich but just comfortable. Even though we both work & have decent incomes, it has become difficult as the prices have increased. We both drive pickup trucks & filling their tanks at today's prices is frightening. We now ride to work together in order to save gas & wear on the trucks. It's an inconvience at times as he doesn't always know what time he's going to get out of the shop (he's a supervisor) & it leaves one of us, whomever's not driving that day, without a vehicle.

In regards to meds, you may want to contact the manufacturer of the med to see if they have a program that could get you some discounts.

As far as everyone else goes, have a great day & stay cool!

Joyce-  Have you heard of Paul McKenna and his program?  Well if you haven't his web site is   McKenna.com  It has worked for me on so many levels.  It has made my energy go sky high and I am feeling alot more confident in myself then I have in years.

Good Morning everyone!!!!! I am looking forward to this weekend and next week!!!!!  The Fam and I are planning a weekend away!!!!!!  Very excited,  we may be going to Lagoon (amusement park).  My son is so fun there, he's so willing to go on all the rides!!!!!  It should be fun.  My son started soccor this week.  We've been riding our bikes to his practices.  Next week is his first game!!!!  He seems to be doing very well this year (on his feet)!  Lots of exciting things happening!!!!!

    Hi everyone

Pill, I will gladly report to Rebecca that the shed is underway... She asked me about it yesterday, wondering if there was any progress being made.  LOL

Joyce...  you are not allowed to give up!   Everyone hits plateaus and has dips and peaks....  so stay diligent and follow those doctors instructions.   We're all here cheering you on - just don't give up!

Mary, I've been out of it a bit with being so sick last week... I don't think my mind was out of the fog some days when I came here.  When you say NSDS are you referring to the one in Texas?

Susan, sorry to hear you're not feeling well.   It's a miserable feeling, that I know.  Hope today brings a better day!

Darla, my mom has been wearing those hose for over 20 years.  She's convinced they are what keep her as healthy as she is as they control her system so much and keep her heart working as is should be.  However, she does say they are very uncomfortable when the summer heat hits and it's in the 80s and 90s.

Jenn, thanks for the website.  Did you order one of the sets of CD's or have you just read about him.

Michelle must have been off ...  Enjoy your day of freedom.

Well, I hear the girls moving downstairs so I think it's time to go russell up some food in my kitchen.  SYAL  Not sure when... as I know Heather rattled off this long list of things she has to do today and I got the impression most of them involved "moms taxi"   LOL

Thanks to all, for the encouraging words and ideas on meds.  I am looking into all that I can find.

Susan.......So sorry you were sick last night.  Nights just seem to lag on and on when we are sick.  It is so nice to know that you and all the ladies are praying.  We should never stop praying for miracles.  I can't imagine how God must feel when we sometimes forget that he is ALMIGHTY and he wants us to need HIM and ask for HIM to grant and supply our needs.

Joyce........Hi, I will tell DH about the hose.  He says he won't like it, but if it prevents huge problems down the road, he will do whatever he needs to do.

Mary........ The doctor didn't give us more samples, but he going to try to keep everything generic as possible.  The salt shaker may just mysteriously disappear. Hmmmmm!  I cook with a little salt, but I never had extra to my food.  DH does, even before he tastes it.

Hauke........Doesn't time fly when you are having fun, or is it our age???  I can't believe it is Friday, either.

Jenn.......I don't know you very well, but it sounds like you are headed for a super weekend.  Have a good one.

I hate to run, but one of my grandsons (age 9 in Oct.) is coming today to stay the night and part of tomorrow.  I will check in when I can.

Hi Girls, I will try and finish my letter from yesterday, I didn't come back to Barb's after lunch so didn't have a computer.

Great lunch and then went for a ride and DBIL dropped Laurie and I at our house, I watched my soaps and then walked over to the quilt shop didn't intend to buy anything but she was marking some fabric down half price so got 4 pieces, came back to the house and napped and read---But---was out at 7:00 a m today to pick Barb up for garage sales got a couple of shirts don't know if they will fit but was only .25 so will pass them on if not.

DD # 2 and kids are coming up from Eugene Or to spend the night and tomorrow, I haven't seen them for 5 years so am excited about that.

Hauke I will finish telling you about Larry's funeral, it is going on right now in Ga and then on Oct 1 he will be buried in Arlington Va.    Sue says that the military will pay my way back for it as well as per diem and hotel. I really don't want to go to D C but suppose I will.

Later on there will be a memorial in Tillmook

When you went to the cheese factory in Tillamook you were right by Larry's folks place as you turn on the first road S of the factory, great ice cream   huh  my favorite.

Darla, you ask what kind of cancer Larry had it was brain and by the time they found it it was at stage 4 he had 2 surgries and lots of chemo and radiation and lasted nearly 7 months.

Joyce I hope you aren't getting discouraged for not losing, I know it is easy to do but when I lost a lot 4 years ago I stopped losing weight but continued to lose inches.

Well now I need to go again, some company is here and Paul wants me to meet them as they are friends of my friend Adrian at home.   Later   Marge

OK Sisters....need your imput.  For 2 hrs after Kris puts the kids to bed, John runs back and forth in his room, stomps on the floor, makes a real ruckus.  He can't seem to wind down in his brain and go to sleep.  I have heard thru a friend who spent thousands going to a Homiopathic Clinic that Melatonan is great for this.  It seems to be wonderful on her autistic son and said it doesn't leave him dopey in the morning.  He wakes up rested. What is your opinion?

Joyce-Don't get discouraged....You will get through some rough patches....My friend went thru this and said she can't believe she didn't do it sooner.  Summer is hard because of the heat.....I think the fall will feel better....don't you. Walking is easier too.  Maybe you'll even come for a visit?

Mary-I just LOVE newborns....love the smell of them...cuddling with them......nothing like it.   I was sorry to hear about your son and DIL.  Boy, so hard on us grandma's, right? Does she feel she is the one left with all the responsibilities and he's off somewhere?  That can be stressful.  Kids can be stressful.  I pray they will get some counseling.  We went thru bad patches and we felt the counseling saved us.  If she thinks it's bad now just wait til the pressures of divorce happen.  THAT is way worse.  Only they don't realize that until they've done it, right?  Keep your cool and remember to only say good things to your son about her.  I've seen more parents get in trouble because of agreeing with son and then they get back together and your words somehow find their way to DIL.  Just a tip...from someone who's been there.

Deb-I am trying so hard to lose some weight......I've gone down about 14lbs.  Gone under a big goal.  I have about 50 lbs to lose and am so excited to see it go.  Do you think it is unrealistic to lose it by Oct 11th.  Going to Cancun.  Hope I can put on a bathing suit I like.  Taking Kelly and family with us and want to be in the pool or ocean all the time.  I don't know if you have much weight to lose.  If you've lost all yours, please give me some tips......or just some support if you can.

Hauke-Is there a contest going on for weight loss?   I love the chocolate!   Will look into it more when I get a few more pds off.  When I eat it, it just makes me want more of the bad stuff.  Understand?

Got to go.....going to put a potatoe in to bake.....hate nuked ones......lol......Robin

Hi Everyone!! Hope you ALL are having a Good Afternoon!!!!

Robin, I am against giving kids medicine to sleep unless it it really necessary.  I am sure circumstances and the childs behavior would have to be greatly considered. Plus if he is disrupting the other childrens sleep.  It is my son that is causing most of the problems in his marriage....sad to say.  I believe what my DIL is telling me about what he is doing and his behavior.  A mother with two children doesn't not willing go into the Navy....it is absurd!!!!!!!! I am leaving it alone, it the hope that they work it out themselves. Yes, Hauke, this is the son in Texas...

I didn't do too bad on my first day of the diet....LOL  I hate a ton of beet greens today and feel so bloated.   I did eat alot of veggies, the ones I got at the Farmers Market last night.   I have just been so darn hungry!!!  I am going to go ride my bike for awhile, maybe that will help....LOL

Joyce, keep up the good work with your diet.   I know you are sticking to it and I know the weight will come off. It is hard to lose in the summer with the heat and fluid retention.

Darla, I should throw our salt shakers away too. Ron salts like crazy

       Be back later.

    Mary

    Hi, everyone.

Was busy today and will have a busy weekend.

We spent the morning at the neighbor's DM's funeral. Then, we had to get the Fri. and Sat. chores done. Tomorrow, Bradley and I will go with Russell while he shoots in a pistol match. They start early and end in late afternoon. With DD#2 coming for Bradley on Sun. I have to plan a nice lunch for her and the family. So, that means a trip to the food store. After reading today's posts, I will plan for lots of good veggies and fruit.

Sending big howdy's to all of you.

Re: DC Conversation - Friday, July 18

Susan – Good for you for sleeping in.  I'm sure it was the stress of going back to work Monday and worrying how things will go.  Have a good weekend and just relax (if you can).

Jenn – Thank you for the McKenna site. I did go look at it.  I'm under a doctor's supervision, so I think I better stick with what she says.  There are others that have hit plateaus also and they say it is normal.  It's our bodies way of regrouping.  I sure hope they are right.  Have a great time at Lagoon.

Hauke – Thank you for the encouragement.  I'm not giving up, well, I did with the exercise today, but I stuck with the eating plan.  It is just so frustrating.  How was the taxi service today?  Did you survive?

Darla – My sister doesn't like to wear the support hose either, but she knows she has to.  Her doctor told her that everybody should wear them.  She did have her varicose veins taken care of and the doctor told her the hose will help with that.  She spends a lot of time on her feet.  Have fun with your grandsons.

Marge – I'm glad you got some good deals on the fabric.  How are Sue and the kids holding up?  I hope the service went okay today.  I'm going to tough things out and try not to get discouraged with the weight.  I shouldn't complain.  At what other time have I lost this much weight in such a short time?  Never!

Robin – I'm with Mary, I don't like to see little kids put on meds.  Thank you for your encouragement.  Who knows … I just might show up on your doorstep one day!

Mary – I'm glad your first diet day went well.  Good for you!  At first I thought I was retaining water because my calves are real big again, but one sister asked if when I push on my shins, it stays indented and it doesn't.  So I guess I'm not retaining water.

Nancy – I'm sure your neighbor appreciated you being at the funeral.  I hope Russell does well at the shooting match tomorrow.  I'm sure you, Russell and Bradley will all be sorry to see him head back home.

Thank you to all you ladies for the encouragement you have shown me on my journey.  I'm sorry to keep whining about it, but it is frustrating.  But I am NOT giving up.  I know it will start to come off again.  I just have to be patient and, unfortunately, I'm not good at that.  But I guess this will teach me.

    Hi Again!

ROBIN: I haven't chatted with you since I've been participating in the group but wanted to respond to your post today. My son was border-line hyperactive when he was little so was very difficult to get into bed, to stay! Our doctor suggested developing a bedtime routine & advised we put him to bed at least half an hour before we actually felt he needed to be asleep. We started our routine an hour before his actual bedtime. If I remember right (our son's 25 now so it's been a little while) we started with his bath & pj's, a small snack (high protein, low carbs), picking of 3 (I think that's the number) book, reading these same books, brushing teeth & into bed. The rule was he had to stay in the bed even if he wasn't going to sleep. Usually, he would lay & whisper to himself or his Snuggle Bear until he went to sleep. It was really hard at first, sticking to this but we found it worked once we did. My sister's middle son (he's 6) has similar problems & they found that creating a bedtime routine for him worked better than yelling at him to stay in bed. His doctor threatened to put him on meds but my sister refused to allow it. If they become dependent on something to make them sleep now, it could carry over into adulthood! Hope things work out!

Stay cool all & have a good evening!

    Susan
