    07/19/08 CS's Chat

    • Yesterday was more like old home week!! Randi, Leisa, and Darlene checked in!! Way to go people!!

    • Randi-Never let me hear you say you don’t want to whine to us.  Girl, what do you think we are here for!!  We allow whining, pouting, and pure misery and are here for love, hugs, prayers, and all the general support you can take!!  Leaving prayers for your DGS and your mom, but most especially you.   I wish I could have seen ya’ll while you were here and fussed at you for not being around in person!!  Let me know when you are going to make a return trip.

    • Darlene and Leisa- great to see too!!

    • Mabel-Hugs and prayers for you and Floyd!! Hopefully it is something that can be dealt with easily.

    • Lots of great recipes yesterday!! Since Bob has to work today too, I will check them out.  I don’t have Master Cook on my laptop and boy do I miss it.  They say it doesn’t work well on Vista but there has been a how it can be done posted on the MasterCook yahoo site.  Maybe I will get brave and try to install it with the work around.

    • Thought for the Day- Never be entirely idle; but either be reading or writing or praying or meditating or endeavoring something for the public good.-Thomas a Kempis

    • Today is National Raspberry Cake Day makes today as sweet as a summer day can be. Tender raspberries are among the best of fruits that nature has to offer. Put them into a cake......Then, you can "have your fruit and eat it, too!"

    • Raspberries are one of summers sweet, fruity treats. And, the harvest is going on right now. So, it's only appropriate that we enjoy a piece of raspberry cake in celebration of the harvest.

    • Sorry guys no recipe! Raspberry and I have no working knowledge of each other.  In fact I don’t know if I have ever tasted one or not.  Raspberries are not common down here at all!!

    • Special hugs and prayers for Betty, Louise and Maury, Gat and Jeanette, Mabel and Floyd, Grace, Ruth, Helen, and Anne.

    • Remember the group prayer! “Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over and care for all Cookin’ Seniors and those they love.

Thank you for the birthday wishes For my husband. He said, "WOW!". We went out for supper at a new place we'd never tried. He splurged and bought a Filet Mignon. I had a stir fry. Must say our stir fry  is just as good...so whenever he has a hankering for the steak, we know where to go. And then I'll try something different.

For his birthday we bought his general manager's binoculars...one year old. It is a BushnellLegend 10 x 42. They are quite pricey. His manager gave him a decent deal on them and will upgrade for himself. We enjoy watching the birds in our yard. These binoculars should help a lot. We've been thinking about getting some better binoculars and this one should fit the bill.

Our raspberries should be ready in a couple weeks, I'm thinking. We flash freeze them and then use them in smoothies, yogurt, pudding and jam. This year I'll mix saskatoon berries through the raspberry jam. And put little jars of jam on the platter for you all to try.

In the morning we plan to do some more yardwork, and make a start on reorganizing the garage.  The key word here is TOGETHER. and soooooooo that means this gal had better get ready for bed and SLEEP. Don'tcha figure?

Sending hugs for all who need them today.......***JP

Top of the morning to everyone.

Stopping by early to say howdy for the day. DH is officially on vacation and I only work this coming Mon. and Tues. so..."Let the fun begin!"

Got a question for all of you....

When I was checking out a special tent set up by my cell phone company, something caught my eye. It was a little bigger than the cell phones (like a large calculator) and the gal told me it was internet (wireless) cabable. You could use it (according to her) as a phone AND mini computer. Does anyone know how good these things are and if they are worth it? The price tag was $200plus so I didn't think it was all that expensive if it worked in place of a laptop.

One thing I didn't ask was if they charge a fee each time you do something on it, equivalent to making a roaming phone call.

MARGARET~~I checked out a couple of those recipes you found in search and I need to try some. I am over-run with zucchini right now. The frosted zucchini bar/cookies are first on my list.

JP~~My DH growls, "Arrrgghh, Arrrggghh, Arrrgghh!" to your DH's birthday gift! LOL

That will bring those birds up close and personal.

The raspberries here are going full strength. This is only the second year I have had these bushes and they are doing beautifully. Next on my list is a raspberry coffee cake.

NANCY Z~~I was tapping my foot to the beat when you sent me that message. Big Smile

ZORA~~I cannot imagine living without raspberries. LOL

I do strain the seeds out of my jelly but love them on vanilla ice cream fresh out of the garden.

Coffee time and then we are off and running to our town's "Fun on the Fox" days complete with the old-fashioned sidewalk sales through the mainstreet.

    (GRACE~~How are you doing?)

Dakotah is waving to LIZA JANE. He thinks maybe she is just lonely that she could not get motivated.

SmileSmileSmileBig SmileOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The very thought of Saskatoon and Rasberries together makes me think I died and went to heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I must order some Saskatoon Berry pie filling nowthat we have space. We got addicted tothem when we drove to Alaska. You can get them from a web site called River Bend Plantation. If you have never eaten Saskatoon Berries "Y'all just ain't lived".

DH is off to a controlled burn. I picked about a peck of green and wax beans yesterday that I need to put up today, and then last night a friend insisted we take a bunch of black eyed peas. Not normal fare for us. Guess I will put them in the crock pot with some ham and see what happens.

Thanks for all the welcome backs. I thought about all ofyou so often, but it was just so hard to sit down at the computer. I have also been busy emailing neglected friends. Got one from my cuz and she said she had been in the house where I grew up.

It is not even eight yet and I need to turn on the air. Have a kid coming to help me in the garden today. I have all these shingles left by the former owner and they work great inbetween to keep the weeds down. I wanted to lay some more, but it really is a young person's job. I lay a row and spend three days down with my back, so finally when I heard this newlywed was looking for odd jobs I told DH I was hireing him to do it. Help us both out.

The WC Handy Festival is going on but it is so hot I don't know if we will go to many concerts this year.

Has the water gone down in Wis? We were in Jeff when all four bridges were closed. Had to drive thirty miles out of the way to get to the other side of town. DH got a big shock. The FEMA guy that came to assess the damage was a high school pal he had lost track of. They had a nice chat. Well, gotta go get some more coffee and turn on that air.

Helen, waiting for the unknown is so hard. We can deal with stuff if we know what we are dealing with, but not knowing is awful. I am praying foryou and Floyd.

    BlackBerry® 8703e

Tippy-similar to this?? This is the Blackberry and yes you can do the internet on it.  But it would never take the  place of your laptop unless you are happy with seeing the internet on the little bitty screen.  You can text and surf the web tho if you pay for text messaging with your cell phone plan bundle.  I do have Verizon wireless on my laptop and I love it.  Now I just need a longer lasting battery as I have finally mastered the small keyboard and the touch pad.

Not crazy about the touch pad but i can use it.

Cardinal Tetra   True Rummynose Tetra  Panda Cory Cat  Harlequin Rasbora

Marble Hatchet  Red Minor Serpae Tetra  Neon Tetra Jumbo  Albino Aeneus Cory Cat

By clicking on the pictures you will see a larger view. This is the site I will order from as well. It is a Doctor's Foster & Smith site and I have ordered bird items from them in the past.

    -------------------------------------

It's after eight on a fairly quiet Saturday morning. (my "yip yip" still "yap yapping") Small desk fan whirling, traffic is light. Birds have flown off on their morning hunt for breakfast. Goats, for the moment, are not bleating with starvation. A few more 5 gallon water changes, slowly, over the next week and my aquarium will be ready for the introduction of a few fish. This time it will be a peaceful community tank. Cardinals, Neon's, Rasboras, Hatchets,   Albino Cory Cats or if I can get them, Panda Cory's, Rummynose Tetras, & Serpae Tetras. No, I will not introduce them all at once--it will be over a period of time and I will have to get a few of the types I want by mail order. Such as the Cardinals, Pandas and Hatchets. (I have a 55 gallon tank so that I can have small schools of the fish I want)

No kids today and a beautiful, summer day in front of me.

Good morning from a hot & muggy Indiana, it's 88 out there, too hot for me, will be staying in the AC.  Although I need to go down to the shop & ask DH if he will help me wash the car, some danged bird pooped on it..........grrrr.

Have mountains of laundry to do today, don't know if I'll hang it out or not, DH might mow & he's not very good at mowing around laundry.

Going out for chicken tonight, no cooking for me.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Yep, ZORA. That's similar. Thank you for the info. think I'll pass.

The downtown doings was a bust. Sad to see this small town go down the drain like it has. DH and were remembering how it was a few years ago.

We did hit a garage sale held at a church/school gymn and that was worth the trip alone. Got some beautiful glassware and a gorgeous cut-glass Fostoria vase VERY reasonably priced.

We came home and had breakfast and now we are off to shop for baby gifts. We have three babyshowers to attend in the next week.

Oh....Gotta share the news.  DD (due in November) had an ultrasound and they are having a BOY!  Arrrrgggghhhhhhhhh!  Now _IF DDIL has a boy (any day) they will have moral support while growing up. LOL Otherwise that poor boy is destined to be in for it with all the girls in this family. They are already plotting.

Waving to everyone. Have a great day.

    Good morning, Everyone –

I’ve done my work for the day, and no one will notice it but me.  I guess that’s what everything we do boils down to, isn’t it?  Did your DH ever even notice a fresh haircut?   -smile-

LEISA, I don’t know how I missed you yesterday, but I’ll wave twice to you today.

MARGARET, you came up with good sounding recipes for zucchini.  Thanks for doing the ‘legwork’!

RANDI, I do think you meant MABEL & Floyd.

PENNY, let’s hope your DD’s in-laws will help to keep an eye on those little ones.  That would help a lot.

I’m off to shower, so I can be ready when GF calls, in case she still wants to – as she puts it – “fiddle faddle” around…she means perusing the stores!

Here come the wishes, waves, & smiles - Helen

    Good Morning Everyone!

Busy day today. Need to pack for our trip tomorrow. I will be gone a week.

Also have a Red Hat Luncheon at my favorite Fish House Vera Cruz. Yummy! Then "Mr. We can do one more thing today" got us tickets for the Red White and Blue dinner dance at the Elks tonight. Haven’t a clue what to wear for that yet.

I am getting all our laundry done and our snack basket ready to go in my spare time.

Potluck last night was great. I was lazy and bought big oblong Chocolate Mocha fruit basket cake from the local Mexican Bakery. Was it ever good. Had fresh Strawberries, Kiwis and peaches on the top. I would get it again and could not make it for the $13.99 that it cost. The mocha whipped cream was wonderful and the cake beautiful.

Hope you all have a great day and if I don’t get back today, a good week next week.

Hugs and prayers to those who need them.

A quick wave, "hello' and I'm out to do some yard work. It's a cooler day here...19*C, and perfect for tidying the flower beds and the garage. There's some raspberry runners coming up that I'll transplant into icecream pails for a co-worker. They're about a foot high. Next year any shoots that start up will be used to start a new row. We even had them growing in the lawn, 'by-jimminy-george'. Have a great day! ***JP

We are home from the pistol match and it has been a long day. We left at 8 am this morning. Had a mix of weather, too. Rain, bright, gray and lastly fog------the shooting range was right along the banks of Lake Michigan. Now, we are ready for a nap.

DD#2 will pick Bradley up tomorrow. He comes back next week for VBS. We are doing Power Lab-----anyone else doing that particular one at their church?

Hugs and prayers for all CS.

Good afternoon all,   Welcome back Randi.  Been missing you.   After reading the posts to you guess I'd better show up even tho I can't be real upbeat.  Talked with DS for a minute, she sure is down.  She knows that she's in for at least six months of chemo.  She couldn't talk more than that.

I slept in this am til about 8:30 and then went out and delivered that weekly paper.  It sure was muggy, so have been in the house ever since and I think that the temp has gone up to the mid 80's.  Sure glad that I have a/c.  DS and family stopped in for a minute to let me know that they are here.  There are speed boat races going on and they were going to check them out.  Doesn't interest me in the least.  Think that I'll spend the evening with RFDTV and some crocheting.  Pat
