Prayer Circle Sunday July 20, 2008

Here is part 2 of our lessons on how to make God smile series.

    God Smiles When We Trust
    by Jon Walker

By faith, Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land. He was warned about something he couldn’t see, and acted on what he was told. . . . As a result, Noah became intimate with God. Hebrews 11:7 (MSG)

    *** *** *** ***

Imagine this scene: One day God comes to Noah and says, “I’m disappointed in human beings. In the entire world, no one but you thinks about me. But Noah, when I look at you, I start smiling. I’m pleased with your life, so I’m going to flood the world and start over with you and your family. I want you to build a giant ship that will save you and the animals.”

There were three problems that could have caused Noah to doubt:

    · First, Noah had never seen rain because prior to the flood God irrigated the earth from the ground up (Genesis 2:5-6).

    · Second, Noah lived hundreds of miles from the nearest ocean. Even if he could learn to build a ship, how would he get it to water?

    · Third, there was the problem of rounding up all the animals and then caring for them.

But Noah didn’t complain or make excuses. He trusted God completely, and that made God smile.

Trusting God completely means having faith that God knows what is best for your life. You expect him to keep his promises, help you with problems, and do the impossible when necessary.

The Bible says, “He takes pleasure in those who honor him, in those who trust in his constant love” (Psalm 147:11 TEV).

It took Noah 120 years to build the ark. I imagine he faced many discouraging days. With no sign of rain year after year, he was probably criticized as a “crazy man who thinks God speaks to him.” I imagine Noah’s children were often embarrassed by the giant ship being built in their front yard.

Yet Noah kept on trusting God.

In what areas of your life do you need to trust God completely?

Trusting is an act of worship. Just as parents are pleased when children trust them, your faith makes God happy. The Bible says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6 NIV).

Forgive me for posting and running,  but Phantom of the Opera is on TV and we have never seen it.   I love the music.  Actually,  I guess I'm a pretty big Andrew Lloyd Webber fan.   I think I have his name right?   We were lucky enough to see CATS not once,  but twice,  live in Milwaukee.   Can't even remember all the diff musicals he has composed.   Probably I love them because I am so musically challenged myself.....can't sing,  can't play anything,  but I sure love listening to those that can.

Praying for all of you,  dear ones.  See you sometime tomorrow.   Might be after church tho,  cuz I have to be there a bit early to deliver the communion bread.

Phantom is back on.....night-night and God bless and keep you all.

Another great lesson, Randy!  I've always thought it would take great faith for those reasons, too!  Don't you know that when God closed the door to the ark and the rains started, that there was a lot of pounding and scratching on the outside of that door--and it didn't come from the animals!

Deb, glad to see you survived the electrical renewal! :)

Now it's time to party again!

Rolling in a big beautiful cake for our Birthday Girl: Koffekup!

Happy Birthday, Koffe! Hope it's Great!

And I'm bringing some delicious Edy's French Silk ice cream to go with that cake!  Yum!

Ladies, this a.m. (Sat.) we went to the Farmers' Market--where the locals bring their produce to sell--and I bought 3 doz. ears of corn.  So I've been freezing corn today and also lots of squash from our garden.  So we'll have corn and squash this winter, if nothing else. ;)

It's good eating, but makes for a tired body so I'm going to close out for the night.

    Praying for all!

    God Bless! Nite Nite!

    Blessings--

Not much to say tonight.  I'm exhausted but the deck is cleaned and the house is almost ready for tomorrow's open house.  I'll have to clean the litter box and sweep the floor around it in the morning and will have to make the bed (AGAIN!!) and just make sure everything is in its place.  GK--knees have talked to me a bit during the past two weeks but I'm doing okay--not to say doing the deck, washing the siding and doing the carpets didn't hurt a bit but I'm making it fine.  I rest for a while every afternoon when it's to hot to be outside working.  Part of that time I elevate my legs with ice packs on my knees and that really helps.  As soon as I get off here it's ice again for about 15 minutes before I go to bed.

I  LOVE the pictures of your kitties.  I am a major cat person.  I don't ever remember not having at least one cat (and most of the time more) around.  Growing up on the farm we always had cats -- dogs too -- but I'm a bit more partial to cats.  I love dogs also, but they are more trouble to take care of than cats.  And they don't snuggle as cuddly as cats either. Smile  If I had the technology here at home I'd post pictures of Ginny and Tessa, my two felines.  But I've always used the needed devices at school for things like that.  I don't have keys for the building anymore so that's a dead end now.   Guess I may have to think about updating my technology here at home.  Will probably wait and see how quickly the move is going to take place.  No sense in getting everything set up only to have to move it in a month.

Randy, I only skimmed your lessons from yesterday and today.  Monday, when I have NOTHING on my calendar, I plan to go back and really read them and study what you've shared.  I believe they are going to really speak to my heart.

I forget now who has the in-laws with the 50th--but Congratulations to them and to your family.  That is quite an accomplishment and one for which you can be eternally grateful.

I know there were several other things on the PC but right now I'm just too tired to list them all.  However, I do remember that Fay did TOO MUCH outside today.  Take it easy--you hear! Even I came inside during the hottest part of the day.  As I ice my knees I'll be praying for each of you and your families.

    Enjoy your Sunday!

    NB

Have a grand one in the Lord--

Always take your rainbow with you!

     happy birthday koffe!!!

In honor of your birthday, I am making your boss take your place at work for an entire year. You, however, earn the big salary, but get to relax, shop, enjoy life to your heart's content.

I'm bringing an assortment of Chicago style pizza from Gino's East. Let's party while NB and I baby our knees.

I'll see you all tomorrow. Deb

Randy, another wonderful lesson!!!!  How did you enjoy the movie? I can't remember if I ever saw it or not.

Fay, Praying for you to get a good nights rest & be able to relax the rest of the day. Sounds like your day was very productive!

Deb, how have you been today? Is the electrical work all done?

NB, good to see you & glad that the big chores are done. I hope you can get a good nights reat too & have a great open house!  Both of my cats are sooo aloof, they let you pet them, but they will not snuggle.

Koffe, Happy birthday!!!!!!     Gift   I will send some Texas BBQ or whatever your hearts desire would be. I know I will bring you to Texas all week with all expenses paid.  I really wish I could.

    God bless you all,     Patty

Re: Prayer Circle Sunday July 20, 2008

Well, I finally kicked the rest of the family off of the new computer so I could get on.

Happy Birthday Koffee! For your present, I think I will fly you to Ohio's Amish country, and since a party isn't complete without all our friends, (since I am rich smiles_398.gif) I will fly everyone here to the party as well. Seriously tho, Koffee, may God bless your day.

Please continue to remember baby Aaron and his momma and daddy. Monday morning they will try and start her labor. They want to try a natural childbirth so that in the future she won't have to have c-sections. I talked to the mom today after church, and she said that she can feel the prayers of everyone. That is the only way they are getting thru this. Of course, a small part of them is still holding out hope that God has done a miracle, and healed their baby.

Pray for me too this week. My best friend is a sister-in-law to baby Aaron's mom and dad, and I volunteered to babysit for her kids so she can go to the hospital, as well as the memorial service (if he does indeed die). She has 4 kids, and I have a lot of work to do here at home too. I don't quite know how I will get it all accomplished, but know that it is important that I babysit for them.

Well, I need to get off of here. I need to get supper going for us - think it will be just leftovers and ice cream!

    Hugs to all

    -Mari
