MountainMan:
I really like them both, but I think Matt is more creative in his designs, and Jennifer tends to be more of an artist.
I agree. I have been for Matt since day 1. I have been looking at the designers in terms of how they might fit into the existing network lineup. Jennifer reminds me of Debbie Travis and her use of paint. That seems to be her strength and whereas she is very talented, there are already several shows that feature artistic designs. I am afraid that may be her downfall (just my opinion!) because whereas she is very talented, I am not sure that she has anything unique to offer to the network "as a whole."
With Matt, he does seem to think more outside the box and I can see that feature being attractive to the network in that it could be marketed as a makeover type show - "Matt's Makeover Magic" (LOL! Don't hate me for the lameness of this - it just came into my mind) Kinda like a "let us help you correct your design flaws" show, which are really popular now. They both have their strengths though - my goodness, look at the competition they had to beat just to make the final two! - I just think his skills/talent seems to be a bit more unique. However, by making the final two, they are both winners if you ask me.
That being said, whereas I have followed it this summer, I have not enjoyed this season of Design Star at all. I have watched all three years and frankly, I think they have ruined the show this year with their focus on the drama, not the design. I still think Design Star 1 was the best. I hated all that fuss this season over Michael and Tracee! And then the deal with Mikey V and his past - geez! I don't watch it for drama, I watch it for ideas and design and I personally think the show has fallen short of that this season.
