    question about brownies

I am wondering if you can freeze brownies and at what stage should they be cooked? Fully baked, half baked, raw???  And of course I need the recipe. I did a search but came up only with brownie desserts and I want just plain brownies that will freeze well.

    Re: question about brownies

I have frozen brownies before with no trouble.  This recipe is great.  Just a plain brownie but you can add anything you like.  Sometimes I add m&ms or choc chips or peanut butter chips.  You can also frost them with any frosting you like.. Or just eat them plain.  To freeze them, bake them and cool completely.  I wrap mine in plastic wrap then in foil.  Or you could cut them into individual brownies and freeze them that way.  Just set them at room temp for about 15-20 minutes to thaw.  Hope this helps!!

    Fudge Brownies:

1 cup butter, melted                                    1 tsp. salt

3/4 cup baking cocoa                                  1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

4 eggs                                                        1 tsp. baking powder

2 cups sugar                                                1 tsp. vanilla extract

Stir cocoa into melted butter and set aside.  Beat eggs and sugar in a large bowl.  In a small bowl combine flour, salt, and baking soda.  Stir flour mixture into eggs.  Add vanilla extract and chocolate mixture.  Spread into a greased 13x9" pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 25-28 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near center comes out almost clean.  Cool in pan on wire rack.

Thank you so much. This is just what I wanted and I've never frozen them before but I'm going to try these tomorrow.

Just wanted to add a quick note to this. I use the same basic brownie recipe with a couple of different add-ins. Try adding Andes Mint Chocolate chips before baking or add semi-sweet chocolate chips to the batter & sprinkle milk chocolate chips over top, then bake. I've frozen both versions with success!

    Re: question about brownies

Of course you can freeze brownie batter! That's what they do in the store and sell it to us in overpriced little packages from Pillsbury etc! I would suggest omitting the eggs and mixing it in later if you are concerned about the quality of your eggs. But if they're fresh you should be fine. With less egg you can make it thick and roll it up in paper, freeze, then slice it off for cookies or brownies.
