    Canadian Corner 22/07/08

    Good Morning CC Friends

Gee I'm ready to blow a gasket with this heat. Just bring on Fall. Went and bought another fan yesterday so now I have 5 fans running plus 1 A/C. LOL

Ada great to hear you got a great report from the doctor.

All you CCer's with gardens are sure starting to enjoy some yummy stuff. What a nice change from buying in the store.

The noise around me now with knocking out the balconies is unreal and crap laying all around I feel like I live in a getto. The pounding shakes everything in the place, shifted my puter to one end of the desk so had to tie it down.

Off to work this morning -not my favourite thing to work at in this heat, but heck thats why they have us YF so they don't suffer with the heat. LOL

Hope you all have a great day - I have to shut the puter down when they start working here at 8 am.

    Good morning,

Crea-- I'm experiencing wandering objects too.  Roofer hopes to be finished Thurs.  The quiet will be nice.  The plants around the house have taken a real beating.  as well as my front steps.  They simply crumpled under the falling weight.  It will be another good job to have done and off the list.

Not much new around here so I'm off and running.    Try to stay cool.   Pat

Pat - hope your roofing people clean up their mess. These guys do not - lovely shrubs, flowers gone and they are wrecking the grass too. They do nothing. I think the owner shd of made sure in their contract that they lay sod and give them a certain period of time to finish or they get a fine for each day they are over like major projects are handled. These guys started here May 1st and only half done.

    Good Morning Friends,

Crea, poor Crea that is not your cup of tea eh all the crap laying around. I know what you mean. When I got home yesterday, I weeded my flower beds, it was all I could do in this heat...whew.

Today people are coming for a third look at our house, sounds like they are interested.  Who knows?

Ada, very good news for you, glad you are ok. A sunburn is painful and believe me I've had many.

Pat, must be noisy at your place with the roofers. Do the cedar shakes need to be treated?

Working this morning, my DB is dropping by for a visit and bringing me fresh veggies from his garden.

    Cathy, how is your foot?

Katie, do you still have lots to do for the wedding?

A tropical storm Dolly is heading for the gulf , when it hits land it will be a hurricane.

We still didn't get any rain, hopefully soon.

Have to have my fix coffee, coffee.

Crea not sure what the job market is like out there but here in sk good workers are real hard to find, guess if they want something done they hire whoever and everybody else suffers because. Maybe that is why so many workers don't care what kind of mess they leave behind. I know what it is like to live within a disaster zone, that is what our yard still looks like. I am beginning to feel the results of our labours my back is killing me. I think I only have about two yards of gravel to shovel today then tamp it all down one last time and the concrete work will begin. I hope to get a day off within the next week so I can go pick up the stuff we will need for our front step. We still haven't committed to a plan for that yet. Ohhhhhh soooooooo much work to do and so little time to do it all in.

My housework sure is falling behind with all this construction going on, maybe today I will have time to get back on track inside the houe.

GT- I feel for you too - but you will do a great job cleaning up. I cannot handle the mess and with fall coming I'm afraid its going to look like h$ll all fall and winter. Then I will feel like I'm living in a getto.

YF- wow 3rd time for someone to come look at the house - thats a good sign. Have a nice visit with family and wow some yummy garden veggies. There is so much construction on the route I take to the Farmers Market I have no idea when the heck I will ever get there. May have to go out of town to one.

your right all this chatter and complaining dosn't get the job done any faster or better so I guess we just live with it knowing that it will have an end and the places will have a new look soon, well maybe not soon but eventually. Time to put on coffee for dh. and to think I told him last night not to set the alarm because I wanted to sleep in and here I am up and at em bright and early. Maybe I will tackle the kitchen and get it whipped back into shape. Saw a recipe for meatloaf on the TH site that might be worth a try. ttyl

    Good morning,

I was going to try sleeping in this morning, as I was still really tired when dh got up.  But then as I was dozing back off, the phone rang.   My friend Kathy is heading to Edmonton for a memorial service, and was asking me to check the weather for Toronto and Edmonton.  So, 1/2 hr later I hang up the phone and here I am.

Crea, I don't think I could handle having all that noise and being closed in.  Poor kitty must be really upset too.

Ada, I'm was glad to read that you got a good report back from the dr.

Katie, the wedding plans seem to be going full steam ahead.  Sounds like you had a really good shopping day yesterday.

Yesterday, I did manage to rest the foot for a bit.  I did get 2 batches of raspberry jam made (and found that I really didn't need to make any as I still have tons of jam left from last year), picked the last of the peas, picked a few beans for supper, then picked blueberries last night.  It looks like it might rain soon, so I should go pick the rest of the beans before it does.

YF - wow, a third visit.  That does sound promising.  Then you will be out house hunting if it sells.

Well,I really should get on the move here if I want to beat the rain.  Hope you all have a great day.  Stay cool.

    Cathy

    Good Morning Ladies!!

What a glorious summer day!!  As soon as the fog lifts, I am sure I will be able to see my beloved dog that is lovingly barking.

I shall take a day off and relax in the vaccumming dept.  Since it is so humid, there is no need to vaccum up the dog hair. Things are so sticky, it just stays in place, so i can do that chore another day.

the garden is doing well, i am overloaded with great green beans, and cleaning/freezing them is so much fun in this heat!! blanching beans? it is so fun as it fogs up my glasses.

my summer cold is a true friend. hanging on with true splendor.

sneezing, coughing, runny nose? an absolute joy in the heat

i must toodle off now to my perch on the deck , with the humidity so wonderfully high, i can imagine i am sitting in a tropical paradise with my wild grape leaves.

    life is grand

    katie

ps.- this humid weather is crappy!!! i feel sorry for you gals under construction. it is too hot to deal with all that noise and confusion.  i am one miserable woman today, between my cold and the humidity. oops.............back to pollyanna mode

have a wonderful day ladies.........and remember- temporary inconveniece for permanent improvement!!

Hey Pollianna sounds like your day is shaping up just fine. Mine too.

My kitchen is back to clean, sort of, my meatloaf decided it would rather be a stew, and the bread is going to be taking care of itself in the bread machine for today. Too hot to turn the oven on. My bills are taken care of for the day, and if I avoid picking up the mail for the rest of the week I won't have any more bills till Monday.

My hair is going to have a better day today as it is cut time. Not sure if I will make an appointment for a color though. I usually get it done once a year for something different and then come home and ask myself why I havethis goofy color atop my head.

    Good Morning CC Friends

Just a quick Hallo as the grandkids are coming & they love the computer so I have to shut it off & unplug it before they get here.

We are having constant power failures it only last a minute or less but it happened four times yesterday . We had a lot of damage in Elmira yesterday from the storm thankfully we only got some rain in our area.

Hoping that the construction goes fast for all the gals that are in the construction zone.

Waving to all others, have to run

    Re: Canadian Corner 22/07/08

I better get on & off quick.  Thunder woke me up this morning so I let the doggies out. Sitting for Shane's dogs while they're camping. One inside & one outside. Had a smidgen of rain but bigger storm on the way. Got David's dog in, she's scared to death of storms. So now I have 3 small dogs laying around in here. On radar it shows a pretty big storm headed at us. Getting dark & windy so hopefully we'll get some rain.

Do ya'll think if I grilled vegies & then froze them for winter meals, they'd be good? I love fresh grilled peppers, squash, eggplants & whatever else I can put on there. I know the corn wouldnt be good, only as soon as it gets done.

    May be back later.

Good morning! Today, I have an appointment to get my brows waxed. Can't have bushy brows for the wedding!! LOL! speaking of which, I then need to go to my mom's an d help her pack to go to it! This should be fun as she keeps saying that she isn't going! She keeps trying to tell me that flying wouldn't be good for her mind! I keep telling her that it(her mind) isn't doing her much good on the ground either so she might as well fly!! Wish me luck! TTYL!
