Good morning girls.  Another hot humid sultry muggy day here then to maybe get some rain with a cool front and go from 90's to 80's.  I'll take it.  Ed is hoping it won't rain tomorrow am while he does the concrete pour, then he doesn't care.  LOL  I'm watering right now.  Picked a bunch of blackberries last night.  When I get some more peaches will make another blackberry peach pie for the girls and one for us.  Off today and will be taking out one of our blueberry bushes.  It has tiny tiny berries and is a bear to pick.  will replace with one that has larger berries and comes later to spread out our berry time.   Also might do some more round up.  Last few times I was finishing up a bottle of one of the other brands.  It was worthless.  Used it triple strength the last time and still didn't get a good kill.  Last year used a different brand and it did great.  Same ingredients too.

Margie, with that heat, you might want to take it easy still.   Don't want to get heat exhaustion.

Sherry, glad you are done with orientation and can start having some days off again.  How is your knee doing?

Will check back later.   Have a great day.

HI, Margie, not enough sleep last night so I'm a bit sleepy tonight. Was dreaming about hospital. Now will be at post office for 5 days. Looking forward to swim. It might cloud up and rain. Not sure. Looked like rain yesterday but don't think it did. I don't think Mike has been around for a couple of days but can't tell because I was at hospital. At one point in time, he was friends with a guy two doors down who claimed he was one of Gregg's relatives. I never believed that story. Anyway, hopefully he stays away. I have to try to get ahold of Sheriff Joe's office and see if they will say anything about what I can do. If they don't help give me an idea of how I can keep him away, I might check with some of the victim rights places,

All the recipes sounded really good yesterday.

Waving hi to Margie, Linda, KarenG, Sandra, Lorilou, Julie, Joanne, Kathleen, Belle, Shirley, Deb, Jill, Lisa, Patti, Wendy, Cherie, Sheila, Sheri, SherryH,  and anybody else I might have missed. No clue what is for dinner. Need to stop by store and get new printer cartridge and post office and pick up mail and other house to check on it and I have the Bible study tonight. I think the pastor is on vacation now and in California, so it will be one of the guys, not sure which one. I will probably be tired in the morning too as I generally don't get out of Bible study until 9 and it is usually 10 before I get to sleep. I prefer getting to sleep at least by 9:30, but when I don't get home till 9:15 or 9:20, its a bit tough to make it to bed by 9:30 (LOL). Have a great day everybody.

Jill, knee doesn't seem too bad today. It is worse when the back to backs are both weekdays. Sunday is usually an easier day and I am able to sit more. And yesterday only had 4 patients as they were expecting an admit and wanted me to get more practice with it.

    Happy Tuesday!

    Mornin' Ladies!

It is so nice out! I turned off the AC last night and have all the windows open.  The humidity has gone and it is a lovely 61º out.  Highs in the 70's today with a chance of rain.

The boys have a dentist appt. (6 mo checkup and cleaning) after summer school this morning. So we won't get back home till late morning.  I picked a big bowl of beans yesterday so I am going to can them when we get home.  I've got them all ready to go. They are washed and stem end snipped.  Since I'll be busy this saft and gone most of the morning, I am going to put a pork roast in the crockpot this morning.  I'll just bake a couple potatoes and warm up some veggies and we'll be set for supper.

Margie - I go see the surgeon the first part of Aug.  It actually has been feeling pretty good.  Unless the doc feels I need it asap, which I doubt, I will be holding off on the surgery till late fall, early winter.  I need to get my canning and fall cleanup done around here first.  It's my busy time.  Of course, things can change, so, I will just play it by ear I guess.

Becky   - you asked for the strawb. spinach salad recently, I'll post that in next post for you.

Kathleen -  This weeks Jam Queen!  Hope you enjoy all those yummy jams!  Good luck on the salsa!

    Hugs to all.........patti

    God Bless America!

    Strawberry Spinach Salad

2 TBSP. sesame seeds (toast for 3 min. and let cool)

4 TBSP sugar (I used less)

    ¼ tsp. paprika

    ¼ tsp. worcesterchire sauce

2 tsp. minced fresh chives (I used fresh minced green onion)

Good morning.  Mama wren is singing happily again this morning.  Her house is right next to my house in one of my lilac bushes.  She serenades me every morning.  I thought I was to have my nephew here today, but he is going to go to his cousins instead.  I'll have him & the two others tomorrow & the rest of the week.  So today I'll straighten the house, finsih up the laundry & get out into the garden to do some weeding & raspberry picking.

Sherry, that brownie recipe sounds good, think I'll have to try it.  Thanks for sharing the recipes.

Patti, Thanks for the recipe.  Think I'll make it for supper tonight.  Glad to hear all was well with the mammo.

Linda, what do you spray on the poisen ivy?  Does it kill it for good?

Belle, sounds like you had a great time at the reunion.  So neat to see the Osprey & her family.  Have fun with your sisters this week.  Thanks for sharing the recipes.

Kathleen, ds is 11.  Your jam sounds good.

Dd is going over to a friends house this afternoon to help with haying.  She will be one tired teen tonight.  Camp sure wore ds out.  He feel asleep a little after 6 last night & is still sleeping.  As Patti had mentioned, it sure is nice out.  I am hoping we get the rain they are talking about.  If not I'll have to water my garden tomorrow.  Well, I'd better get busy.  Need to get breakfast made & dh lunch packed.  Enjoy your day. I thought I'd add my recipe for Bread and Butter Pickles.  These are really good.  And, if you don't want to can and have a jar of store bought pickles sitting there, you can pour off the liquid from the store bought pickles, make a small batch of the brine, and pour over the pickles.  Refrigerate when cooled.

    BREAD-n-BUTTER PICKLES

4 Qt. thinly sliced unpeeled cucumbers (I like to use smaller ones)
6 med. onions, sliced thinly into rings
1 green pepper, cut into thin strips, optional
    1/3 C. pickling salt

Combine above in a large tub and cover with ice cubes. Let stand for 3 hrs. Drain well.

    5 C. sugar
    3 C. vinegar
    2 TBSP mustard seed
    1½ tsp. celery seed
    1½ tsp. tumeric

Combine the above brine ingredients; bring to a boil. Pack the drained cukes and onions into sterilized jar. Add brine and seal.
Hot water bath for 10 min.

    Makes approx. 8 pints.

    God Bless America!

everyone! Much cooler (65º) here also, wonderful to turn off the AC & open windows. We had some rain about mid-day yesterday; I told it to head your way, Jill!

We overslept this AM, neither of us heard the alarm, so I am feeling way behind already. Have laundry & some dishes to do, will also be running kids to library club. Today is their final program for the summer Sad, and they are having the Zoomobile from the Ft. Wayne Children's Zoo come. Their theme this year was "Catch the Reading Bug", and they've done all kinds of "bug" related activites; the Zoomobile will have all kinds of insects, along with things that eat them, like lizards & snakes - ICK!!! The kids have loved it tho, and I'm so glad our little library is able to put on such a great program!

Margie, please take it easy in the heat today gf, and have the kids help you. Praying cooler temps head your way soon!

Jill, hope the rain cooperates with Ed's schedule, but that you do get some. Blackberry peach pie sounds sooo good!!

{{{Sherry}}}, hope someone in Sheriff Joe's office can help you; you shouldn't have to live in fear. Glad you are done with orientation; hope the schedule works out for you.

Patti, hope the boys dentist appts. go well. Fresh beans sound so good; we have baby ones, so will only be a few more days!! Glad your knee has been feeling better.

Denise, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and wishing you many more happy years together!! Hope you enjoy your special day together!! Don & I just celebrated 12 years!

Becky, I have a Mama wren who just made a nest in the little house in my back yard; I hear her singing (or scolding) all day long! Hope you get a lot done today!

Ok, need to get busy with breakfast; have all the kiddies today. Hope everyone has a good day!! hugs,

Tomorrow we leave for PA, around a 16 hou drive, please keep us in your prayers for safe driving, Mike is so nervous about this trip, and extra prayers that you could say for him would be great.  He realizes this will be the last time he will see his Dad,  and he is going through alot right now.

Good Morning Ladies...I've been too busy since Friday to be on the computer except to work on farm books! We've been working in the yard planting trees...we finally got all the ones that were sitting on the front porch since early June in the ground! It's way too hot to be planting trees but had to do it. It rained most of the month of June and when it wasn't too wet the guys were combining. Now the 2008 wheat harvest is completely finished at our place...what a relief, especially for my husband! Spent last evening watering, watering, watering! I really hope the irrigation guys get here this week...trying to keep everything alive is hard in this heat...

GS Clint is with me this morning...his mom and sister are teaching summer school this week and he didn't want to go. His mom tried keeping him asleep but he's up an going strong!

I missed out on all the birthday and anniversary celebrations so I'm wishing great things for those who celebrated! We will celebrate our 44th anniversary Friday...can't believe it! I have no idea where the time went. Oldest GD and her hubby will celebrate their third ann. tomorrow. Our entire family went to the Bahama's for their wedding three years ago...talk about hot! We had a great time though...GS Clint told his mom they didn't have any good dirt in the `Hamas...they had lots of sand but no good dirt! He's a farmer through and through!

Sounds like everyone is having a busy day today...don't work too hard! Hi to everyone. kareng

Jolene, a belated Happy Birthday to Noah.  Sounds like it was a neat day for all.  Even the falling in will be a memory.  :)  Will be praying as you drive and visit.  i know how hard that is to say goodbye knowing it will be the last time you see your father.

Denise, Happy Anniversary.   Hope you have a great day.

Becky, sounds like DD will have one big day, glad the weather is cooler for it.  Hope you get your rain.  Nice way to wake up with the wren serenading you.

Patti, sounds like a busy day ahead.  Enjoy the beans.  Guess they'll start pouring in soon.

Lisa, hope your beans come soon.  I do love them but I am starting to want a break.  Feel I need to eat them while I have them but I want to eat other things too.  The joys of having fresh produce. :)   I'm not complaining.  :)

got the round up done and began digging at the blueberry but it has some tough roots so will need Ed's help.  Dug all around it but now need someone to pull while the other digs and cuts roots under it.  And I was beginning to feel the heat and humidity.  So guess I'm in until evening now.  Supper is corn, beans and a squash casserole.

Thanks for all the anniversary wishes! I showed DH the responses, and he thought all of you were so nice to think of us! You're not going to believe this one! DH and I have had enough of that treadmill that seems to have a mind of it's own, and works when it wants to! So, DH and I ordered a new one online at BJ's. WE're both excited, and can't wait until it gets here.
