Dog [&] Critter chat 7/22 by jangrif

Good morning everyone!  We got a bit of rain this morning, I didn't hear, I didn't even hear the alarm clock go off.  I must have turned it off in my sleep!  Good thing dh has an internal alarm.  He woke up 10 minutes later than normal

I saw a baby hummingbird at my feeder this morning.  I was pouring dh's coffee and saw something on the feeder.  I thought it might have been a very large bee or some fluff or something.  then it flew away just like a hummingbird does.

Scrappy had me up at 1 this morning for a potty break! Then Prissy decided she wanted to eat before she got  put outside.  So I had to wait for her to finish.  Must be nice to have servant at your beck and call.

I'm off!  Dd's birthday is in a couple of weeks.  So we're going to the party store to get some ideas.

Hi Jan!   I have a friend who used to have a dog that would wake her up every morning at 4:00 AM to go out...even if she 'went' at midnight!  When you gotta go...you gotta go.  Come to think of it,  even if I 'go' before bed...I still have to get up at least once a night for a potty break too!  lol.

Marion's new baby boy is so beautiful, isn't he?  I think about her every day (her and everyone else in the middle of that nightmare) and send as much Good Mojo I can muster up to Calif.  I hope you get some good ideas in the party store and I hope you have a beautiful day.

Waving hello to everyone who comes in later and even if you're not going to a party store...I hope you have a 'party' type day!  Party!!!

Good Morning Jan & Widdle and other chatters who stop in.

Just a quick hello.  I've got some sausage cooking at the moment.  Going to make an Italian Sausage salad for supper tonight.   DH is going to try and mow the lawn tonight.  It's been over a week since he's been able to get to it, either too hot for him to be out there or it's wet from all the rain and moisture we've had.  Do you all remember when we were complaining aout the cold and hoping spring would arrive, well I don't think we ever got any of that gorgeous spring weather, we just jumped right into summer.   It is a bit less humid here today so that is good.  Even Angel is much happier today with the less H&H.

Jan good luck at the party store.  Let us know what theme you've picked out.

Gotta go check on the sausage and get the salad started.     Later.....

Hi Gkids!  You are so right!  When I was a little girl we used to have a Spring coat!  I used to love my Spring coats because they were always so colorful and so light.  I'll bet they're are posters on here who've never even heard of a Spring coat.   Then again, that's when we used to have, like you said, Spring.  lol.  Now it's Winter...***poof***...Summer!

I remember going shopping for that Spring coat.  All that color!  Know what?  I'm gonna ask them on KC if anyone remembers a Spring coat!  Gkids...look what you started. lol.

Hi Kozy...did you have a Spring coat when you were a little girl!  I hope you're feeling ok my friend.  It's another lazy day over here too!  I thought it was supposed to rain, but it's more of a dribble!

I hope you and your critters have a beautiful day!

Yup I had a Spring coat. And at Easter we had an Easter Bonnet...That was when we had Spring weather...Remember when the Easter Parade was warm and we did not need a winter coat that covered up our pretty Easter out fit....What ever happened to those wonderful warm Spring days?

widdle I am doing just fine...not getting the walking in I should I feel fine..It to hot to walk.

The Easter Parade!  OMG!  Judy Garland (my very best favorite person in the whole wide world) and Fred Astaire.  A classic.  Know what I loved about the Easter Parade?  Just plain folk getting all spiffy and walking down the avenue....Fifth Ave.  lol.

BTW Kozy, I love your new avatar!

We're back from the party store.  We actually went to three different places.  Dd went with Sponge Bob squarepants.  I hate SBSP!  I'd rather stick hot needles in my eyes than have to watch that cartoon.  Everything about it annoys me!!!!  That laugh sets my teeth on edge!  Whenever it comes on, I usually leave the room.  Did I mention that I don't like Sponge Bob?LOL!!!  I can't believe that dd picked that over The Littlest Pet Shop, a sleep over theme and then they had these absolutly adorable ones with kittens and puppies.  Oh well, it's her party, not mine.LOL!!

gkids, I can't say that I've ever heard of sausage salad!  I'm glad Angel is also enjoying the break in your weather.  We haven't cut our grass since July 2!  It's been too dry.  Our neighbor's grass is dry and brown.

Kozy, hazy and lazy here too! LOL!  Those kitties are adorable!  I think I'd have to have a blanket under me if I was going to be reading in the grass.  I don't mind bugs as long as they aren't crawling on me!  Yesterday, I was walking into the store and felt something poke my leg.  I thought it was my shoestring but then I realized it was too high up on my shin to be my shoestring.  I looked down and a wasp was on the tip of the shoestring and he was buzzing my leg!  I stomped my foot to get him off but he didn't move.  I took the toe of my other foot and flipped him off.  I didn't want to kill him but I didn't want to get stung!

Hey Widdle!  I remember spring coats and Easter bonnets.  I have a pix of me and my sister somewhere, we're both decked out in our new dresses, hats and gloves.  My mom would put our hair up in curlers the night before!    I too have to get up for night time potty breaks.  Sunday morning, Scrappy got up and took her potty break right on the rug at the door!  She usually wakes me up with her nails clicking and clacking across the kitchen floor.

Oh Widdle I do remember spring coats and HATS!!!! Ugh.  We used to have to wear a hat to church every Sunday and for me that was like pulling teeth, never did and still don't like hats.   We used to go shopping for the spring coat every year.  I lived in a small town so we got to go to the "big city" to go shopping and that was quite a treat.   I have pics of me, my Aunt and My Mom and Gma all decked out in our spring coats.    Now lets continue forward a bit and does anyone remember what was called the Walking Suit, skirt with a jacket that was like 3/4 length that matched the skirt.

Jan SBSP, oh boy, guess you will be wearing ear plugs and blinders at dd's b-day party :)  I guess this salad is called Italian Sausage because of the Ital. Sausage LOL in it, otherwise it's just lettuce, tomatoes, black olives, and a couple different types of cheese and Italian flavored groutons.    The dressing has oregano in it, vinegar, a bit of sugar and olive oil.   When you mix the dressing it turns green so I don't let anyone see the dressing before I put it on or they all go  "yuck".  I used to make it all the time when we had family picnics, came across the recipe the other day and decided to make it again.

We've had so much rain that it's been hard to get the lawn mowed so tonight dh will have to bag it because it is so long, at least the back has to be done tonight as Angel doesn't like going out in it any more as it tickles her belly so she goes out "under protest".   Angel doesn't want out at night but sometimes she gets thirsty and jumps off the bed and then we wake up, she goes gets her drink and then cuz it's dark in the bedroom will sit on my side or dh's side and whine until one of us picks her up.  No, of course not, we're not servant's to our critters :).  Glad you managed to get that wasp off before he stung you, that wouldn't have felt very good.

Hi Kozy, just put a blanket down on that lawn and I'll be right there with my book.

I've had a couple of recipes like that.  I could see the look on dh's face but he ended up being very surprised by it.  Your recipe sounds good.  I like black olives.  I have a nephew who as a child was one of the pickiest eaters but he loved black olives.  So every holiday, I buy a can of black olives just for him.

I'm sure I will.  I just hope she doesn't come up with the idea to have a SBSP marathon. Shiver, shiver. LOL!

LOL! Scrappy is the same way.  When it snows, I have to make sure she has a spot to go.  One time we had over a foot of snow.  I was out there every hour or so trying to keep a spot clear.

Scrappy does the same thing now that we have a new bed and it's higher than the old one.

OH, I hate sponge bob...I mean there are very little things I can say I hate BUT sponge bob is one of them...

Yes gkids,,I would need a blanket also...and I am not even sure I could lay on the hard ground for long these days...grin...and as much as I love animals and even productive insects I do not want them crawling on me...I remember I had a wasp sting me while shopping in Wal-Mark last year...I was so surprise that it happened inside the store...

Kozy, I read your letter from a dog.  Boy, that was a tough one to get through!  I read mom's reply about putting it up in the shelter where she works.  Good for her!  That's got to be  a tough place to work.  I'd end up taking all the animals home with me! LOL!

Do you all remember last Friday I posted a link about an  Amish man that was arrested not too far from where I live?  Animal Precinct was there taping it.  they have been in the Philadelphia area for awhile now.

If anyone else is still up have a good night!
