    Good morning.

Maizey don't worry about the date. I am a day ahead of myself this week. I put the 23 on everything yesterday. Now have to go and fix my time card. Hope you have a more peaceful day today.

    (((((Jeanne)))))

Maryann we have a little smoke but not much like before. Just enough to make the allergies go crazy.

Hope it improves for you down there.

Well off to work then the chiro. I thought there was great improvement last night and kept waking up hurting. That's once I finally got to sleep.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning Ladies - The heat andhumidity has given us a break and it's a wonderful morning. Sunny and nice fresh air.  Prefect, now we will see how long it lasts.

The county fair starts today - I'm sure you will remember me talking about the cash cube from other years - We will once again have that there, and they have asked Thrivent to help and also supplement the funds, so I've been busy lining up workers for that.  Lots of phone calls - some are so willing, others always have an excuse. Guess it's the same in all organizations.

DD accepted a new job offer yesterday - she spent the weekend trying to deceide what to do, but in the end went with the new job.  Lets all hope and pray that she made the right choice-you never know until you get into it.  She really wasn't looking, but a co. that she looked at when she wasn't working last year, called her about a different position than she was looking into at that time.  This one, is more complex and I think she's fornuate to be considered for it.

Coffee IV's would be a good thing - - but better come with a cathitor (sp)!!!

    Hugs & Prayers

    Good morning everyone.

Kelly's Mission:  Clear off the nightstand, dust and put something pretty that you would love to see on there.  Kelly has a PS on here too.  If you have some extra pretty, nice sheets and blankets have them washed and ready for Friday's mission.

    {{{{{Jeanne}}}}}

{{{{{Maizey}}}}}  I think we've all done that.  Yesterday I knew it was the 22nd but thought it was Wed.  DH is confused about our trip to AC next week.  He is thinking this weekend.

Pat - I hate nights like that!  So many times I can't find a reason for not sleeping.  Hope this isn't your long day at work.

Jane - Very hot and humid here for the past 4 days.  T.storms all day today and into tomorrow.  LOL IV coffee does mean a lot of "running".  Wink

Just got a phone call to P/U parts for DH.  There goes a good chunk of my day.  Confused

    Enjoy.  TTLY..................Dori

    Good Morning Rose Ladies,

It's another cloud covered AM here, but quiet and nice. Can't really complain... so far!

Maizey I know exactly what you mean about the date.  I keep my newspaper handy so I can check it to see the day and date.  With school being out, most of the days even seem the same.  It's a challenge to keep them straight.

Pat, I hate Christmas sales in July.  Poor families who have school shopping to do and then get that "friendly" reminder about Christmas...taint right...  Hope you and hubby sleep better tonight.  It makes for such a long day when sleep eludes us.

Lynn, does your chiro's treatments often relieve the muscles?  Haven't had a great deal of back problems, but have had some.  Enough to know how miserable that can be.  Hope it works for you today.

You must be very proud of your daughter, Jane.  She must be very good at what she does, too.  DD use to show her horse at the county fair.  What a good time that was.  Hope you enjoy it and all show up to do what they are suppose to do.

Cook, I too have bushes to prune.  In my pursuit to get the inside sorted out, I've let the shrubs go NOW I have to pay the fidler and get my buns out that door and snip, snap, snop!  Do you stay late at night at the shelter?

Kelly's mission and my list hit the same item...nightstand, Dori.  I think that is one of the first times I was where she was!  Hope all went well with p u husband's car parts.

Best get in there for one more cuppa before the timer goes off the automatic c pot and the coffee gets cold.  Have a good day Rosies,

    Jaz

Jane: I hope your DD is happy with the decision she made! I hope the new job works out well for her.

Good morning! I had a bad nights sleep too - felt like I didn't sleep at all. Emily keeps coming into our bed in the middle of the night. Who has the strength to battle at 3 AM so I always relent and let her in. Dh winds up sleeping in her bed because she kicks and takes up the whole bed. This is getting old fast but I think in a few years she'll want nothing to do with us and I'll miss the nighttime snuggling.

Emily just ate a mango and some berries and I'm going to make a Greek Frappe - its Nescafe classic instant coffee mixed with a small amount of water (you shake it up really well in a closed container and it gets really frothy) and then you pour it over ice and add some milk or more water. I didn't replace my coffee pot yet so this is what I've been drinking.

The egg timer is beeping for Emily's hard boiled eggs - gotta run - have a good day!

Got the front 3 bushes all trimmed up. Have some in the back but that's for another day. The ones in the back have a lot of dead on top (about 1/3 of the bushes) from those dang Japenese beetles!!! So I won't start on those until the beetles have died out ~ I sprayed them with the Sevin over a week ago but that didn't phase them :( They are a BIG problem in our area!! This place is Bug Infested!!! Vegas desert had very FEW bugs! I miss that!! And the warm winters there ~

Wed. night is adoption night at the animal shelter from 6-8 Jaz. I'm usually there by 5:45 and out by 8:15 on Wed. nights. There are usually a couple more volunteers there with me too on Wed. So clean up doesn't take as long as when I am there by myself on Monday. Mondays usually take me 4-5 hours...

Alex would come into our bed also Stacy. It's a hard habbit to break them of... But hey, there only little once ~

Off to get lunch and then mow ~ I got my salad put together this morning and also a bunch of veggies cut up to make a stir fry over rice for supper. Yummo!

Put your best foot forward and you will be happy in your own skin :)

Hurricane Dolly Makes Landfall In S. Texas
    Storm Now Category 2

    POSTED: 4:03 am EDT July 23, 2008
    UPDATED: 2:12 pm EDT July 23, 2008

BROWNSVILLE, Texas -- Forecasters said Hurricane Dolly has made landfall near South Padre Island in Texas.

Special Section: Hurricanes | Texas Town Preps For Dolly | National Guard Waits For Dolly

Dolly is a Category 2 storm with top sustained winds near 100 mph.

The storm has forced thousands of people on both sides of the Texas-Mexico border into shelters.

Heavy rains and high winds from the storm collapsed an apartment roof, blown over signs and cut power to thousands of customers.

Landfall is when a storm's center crosses the coastline, but it does not necessarily indicate where the worst weather is.

Cities and counties in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas were bracing for massive flooding and levee breaks.

In Brownsville, Texas, palm trees were leaning and small debris was being strewn across the all-but empty streets.

An emergency management official in Cameron County, Texas, said there are nearly 2,000 people in six shelters in the county.

In Hidalgo County, Texas, a little bit farther inland, six shelters holding about 900 people were open. People living in low-lying areas were encouraged to go to shelters.

Mexican soldiers were making a last-minute attempt to rescue people at the mouth of the Rio Grande. They've been using an inflatable raft to rescue at least one family trapped in their home.

Officials in Mexico plan to evacuate 23,000 people to government shelters.

In the Gulf, Shell has been taking workers off oil rigs.

There's a tornado watch up across areas of south Texas, where Hurricane Dolly is moving ashore.

The storm could drop 15 inches of rain in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. Officials are concerned about severe flooding that could cause levees to burst.

"The storm has really started to get stronger here at the center," KPRC meteorologist Anthony Yanez said. "The other thing we're seeing is the outer rain bands. All along, the greatest convection of the storm has been to the north of the dirty side of the system."

At last report, the center of the storm was 30 miles east of Brownsville, Texas, moving at 7 mph. The coast is already being hit with wind and heavy rain.

An emergency manager in Cameron County, Johnny Cavazos, said if Dolly follows the same path as Hurricane Beulah in 1967, "the levees are not going to hold that much water."

Officials are urging people to move away from the levees.

A hurricane warning is in effect in Texas from Brownsville to Corpus Christi, and in Mexico from Rio San Fernando northward.

A tropical storm warning is in effect from north of Corpus Christi to San Luis Pass.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry has declared 14 South Texas counties disaster areas, allowing state resources to be used to send equipment and emergency workers to the areas.

Texas Army National Guard troops are staged in Houston, Austin and San Antonio.

Re: The Rose Room *** Wednesday July..... Oh Oh I can't remember

    Hi again.

I spent a little more than 3 hours on that errand.  Had to get to the bank, p.o., and Kohls.  Good thing I did.  They had 15%off for seniors today.  Thank you, I'll take it.

All those T.storms didn't happen witch is fine with me.  Very grey, overcast, humid but lower temps.  The sun is blocked out and isn't adding much heat today.  It still looks like we may get more rain.  I picked more zucchini today.  I really have to get busy and do something with it.  Any good ideas???

Jane - Good luck to your DD on her new job.  When does she start?

Jaz - You've been getting a lot of organization jobs out of the way.  Seems like if I do 1 drawer a week I'm lucky.   (one drawer, one shelf, one section of the closet like the floor or a shelf in there.)

Stacy - That Frappe sounds good.  I'll have to look for it.

Dianna - Hope some more of the cats find good homes.

    Fluffy - WoW thanks for the update.  I havn't been home or had the tv on so I didn't know it even hit land yet.  {{{{{Fluffy, back to you}}}}}

It's looking very threatening now and I hear thunder in the distance.  Better sign off for today.

    Have a great evening.....................Dori

    Hi Rosies!

It is overcast here and the temps are cool, but that's fine by me.  I almost pulled up the quilt in bed this morning but didn't want to disturb the cat who was at the foot of the bed.  Not much going today.  I need to do mega-loads of laundry.

Jazz, I found out where the street is your brother lives on.  It's very close by and DS#4 has friends who live on a connecting street.

Fluffy, good to see you posting today!  Are you by chance planning on going to Branson?  Do we know just who all will be going?  So far, I know it's me, Jeanne, Roma, Pip, Diana, and Jane.  Jazz, what about you?

Hugs to all.  Have a great Wednesday!~~~Laura

Yup, Laura, I'm planning on attending The First Blooming of the  Rose Room Bouquet.  Think it would be so nice to meet all who could come.  Next year perhaps more can attend. Isn't it a small world that you would know where my brother lives?  My neighbor went with her neice to The Emerald Queen in Tacoma where there was a trying out for Wheel of Fortune.    She stood next to a lady and they eventually started chit-chatting; Wellllllllllll, my neighbor is originally from Central Wa and grew up on  a wheat farm.  This lady knew some of the folks my DN knew because she was from near Wenatchee.  WELLLLLLLL, they soon discovered they both were from Edmonds (where we live).WELLLLLLLLLL!  It turns out this lady auditioning for Wheel of Fortune in Tacoma with gobs of other people, lived on the same street, five houses down from where my DN and I now live.  It really is unusual becasue not too many people know where our area is and they have lived here a life time. Amazing! You can just feel the drama as they kept tracing their paths of where they had lived.

Yes Dori I have organized, but you my dear Rose, have discovered the true way to do it...one drawer a day, etc.  I hope I have learned my lesson...

Good luck, Cook, with the adoptions tonight.  I hope they all find happy homes with loving families.

    Jaz
