LOL, so true, about the work and mess in the kitchen! Of course too, these are my helpers with all the pruning that needs to be done here :)
Tree, that's exactly the look that one had, lol! It's fasinating, observing these little ones. You know, I've seen them since they were tiny, and their mom started bringing them over, kind of showing them around, teaching them to eat, walk and find the way around. They stuck to her like glue. Then they ventured by themselves, exploring and finding their own way. Now we see them developing into their own beings.
The one by the blueberries is very friendly and quite active. She keeps her eye on my pocket for the crackers, and will come over to me (though I am discouraging too much trust or dependency). The other, the one lying down, is more aloof and laid back. She keeps her distance, curious but cautious. The first one is playful - rather like a puppy, lol - will suddenly break into a run, dash around in circles, and then abruptly stop, and look around ... or dive into a shrub, or bump into a piece of furniture or something equally awkward, lol. The other is quiet and graceful, focusing on every step, alert to every sound and smell, and grazes the lawns and bushes, carefully choosing what she nibbles on. Very amusing and interesting!
Our hope is that they remember the safety and food they find here, and not be inclined to wander out to the busy roads and dangers that lie just beyond, in a world that no longer shares with them.
Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.
