I got one and it came with the Wii sports package, so if yours came with that, it will keep them occupied for awhile!  The one thing we found we needed was one more controller (Wiimote).  It came with one, but when you want to play with someone else, it is way more convenient to have two.  We also got a charger for the Wiimotes (approx $40) so we wouldn't be going through the batteries.

They are so much fun!  I recently got the Wii Fitness, and am exploring that.  They also have so many games!  You'll probably play it as much as your kids! Big Smile

i've seen the wiifit and thought the skiing game that went with it was adorable.  I think you can use the wiifit for other games too, is that right?

The Wiifut has it's own games that you unlock as you progress.  Each person gets their own profile where they analyze height, weight, balance, etc., right from the Wiifit board!  Then you start exercising with the games, and a piggy bank clocks your time.  The more time you clock, the more activities you can unlock.  In fact, most Wii games have different levels and game you can unlock if you do certain things.  For example, we have a carnival game that has skeeball, darts, table basketball, and more midway type game, and as you get better, you unlock more characters that you can be, more games, and different colors of the tables, etc.

Anyway, the Wiifit is fun exercise so far!

I bought one for DH for his birthday... we have had so much fun with it!!  We just bought a game called "Party games" for the kids becuase of their great report cards!  It has shuffle board, darts, skeet ball... I personally love that game!!  Ditto what Kattar_WA said about at least a 2nd Wiimote and charger, very good investment!  We also got the Mario go-kart game that requires the "stearing wheel".  My younger kids love that game beacuse they think they are driving!  I used to struggle with the kids always wanting to play video games... now I don't mind it as much because it can be a great work out and I think it is designed for more types of people to play it!  have fun!

Wii love ours (chuckle)...you'll need enough remotes, we eventually bought chargers for all four of our remotes.  We have mario party (LOVE THEM)..and we recently got Mario Kart which we seem to play more than the mario party now...we also just picked up the new carnival games.

I love that we can all play together - I wish more than four could play though.

We have one and love it! We got a sports game that has tennis, golf, baseball and bowling. There might be one more but I can't remember at the moment. We also have Tiger Woods golf and it's more fun than the Wii version. Commentators will critique your skills...very sarcastic and funny. The carnival is fun too. It's meant for kids but I like it. It has allyiur typical carny games. DR's neice has the cooking mama and it is ok but it is definitely for kids. You definitely need to invest in extra controllers. We have 4 and keep them charging at all times. You don't NEED the attachments but it does make it more fun. It's also good to have the steering wheel if you have a racing game. It is awkward to control if you don't. Hope that helps! Shannon

Wii fit can be very difficult to find, so if you are interested in it start looking now. My brother found some at Costco and bought one for my son. We looked locally for over a month. DH and DS were told they would have them at Toys R Us starting at 10:00 AM. They arrived at 10:05 and they were already sold out. The employee they spoke to said the games were gone by 10:03.

    DS loves his Wii.

You can also get game passes at places like Blockbuster. That way your kids can play the games to see if they really want them without having to hand over $50.00 only to find the game isn't as interesting as they thought it would be or it is too easy/difficult. You might want to check it out.

    Re: OT: Nintendo Wii

Good thing you bought it now.  I just finished listening to a report on my local news that Nintendo is already expecting to run short at Christmas time.  The company is STRONGLY encouraging people who want to give them as gifts to not wait until the last minute.  They can, according to them, keep up with demand better when it is spread out.  As for what you will need, I have no clue.  DH is an xboxer and my kids don't need a $400 (or however much it is now) gaming system.
