Dog [&] Critter Chat 7/23 by jangrif

good afternoon!  It looks like we are in for a thunderstorm!  We had one early this morning.  There was some scary lightening that went with it.  Scrappy didn't waste a lot of time on her potty break when she was out in it!  I felt bad for her so I put her in bed with us.  She has been sleeping on dh's extra pillow.  Last night in hopes of her thinking she was actually sleeping with dh, he took the pillow and rubbed it all over himself.  LOL!

Hope everyone is doing ok today!

Hi Jangrif and anyone else who chimes in.  I was on my way out the door to work when the dogs came flying in with muddy paws and jumped all over me!  Well I had to change clothes...those little....darlings!

Hi, jangrif we  had Storm's early Tuesday morning started around 2:30. Power went out at 2:45a.m. didn't come back on til 3:30p.m.   We had gotten up to look out windows to see what was going on out side, came back to bed room Madusa, a  rottie, was standing on the bed looking out to the hall way for us. She looked so funny.

Well hope everyone is having a good day. Have to go finish cleaning up from dinner.

Hey doodle!   It's been kind of quiet here for the past few days.

Don't you just love it!   When we had our golden/lab mix, she would do that too and it was always with dirty paws.

I think a lot of people are on vacation.  I was in San Francisco yesterday for a meeting and couldn't figure out why there were so many people on the Golden Gate Bridge.  Then it hit me, oh yeah it is July and high tourist season!

Hi dmax!  Wow that's a long time to be without power during the summer!  A few years back, an electric pole fell over but not all the way over.  It was leaning over into the road.  Our power went out and stayed out for most of Memorial Day week end!  Luckily it wasn't too hot.

I'd love to go to San Fran but if I did I think I'd have to skip the bridge!  I have a slight fear of heights. LOL!

I know luvadash and AF are away.

Hi Jan!  Do you fly?  I'm just wondering about this.  My sister has a 'fear of heights' also but here is a woman who loves to fly.  Here is a woman who took flying lessons when she was younger.  Never got her pilot's licence...could take off and fly...just had trouble with 'that landing' thing.  lol.  Yet, ask her to climb a ladder to change a light bulb...no can do.  WTH?

I'm not crazy about heights but for some reason I don't mind going over a bridge...I actually love it!  Weird, huh?  But, I don't do that 'flying' thing.  Thanks, but no thanks.  Did it once when I was 5...hated it.  Once when I was 21...hated it more.

Hello to all critter people!  I hope AF and Luva are having a well deserved vacation!

Jangrif:  I have to drive across the bridge to get there.  I've never walked on it though.  I don't think I would like that either.

Hi jan.  Does scrappy not sleep with you guys?  If not, I think you've probably started something that will become a "permanent" thing.  :)

It certainly is quiet around here.  I checked in this morning early before I took off but decided not to open for fear it would get buried, glad I didn't open.

dmax that is a long time to be without power.  Hope it wasn't too hot & humid there so you could survive the heat.

Hi doodle, any more agility classes?

My DIL is afraid of heights but she takes the kids on the ferris wheel, but says she just doesn't look down.  She doesn't like open bleachers so if she has to climb them she goes up on her hands and knees and one of us stays behind her for security.  She's also afraid of bridges so when we go over them she keeps her eyes straight ahead but says when she has to travel across one alone when driving she does the "white knuckle" thing on the steering wheel.   I'm not really afraid of heights, just don't seek them out.  I climb ladders but if I can leave that project for DH, I do.    I guess it's hard to realize their "fright" when those things don't bother you.    Flying, I love it, not so much now with all the "crap" you have to go thru at the airports.  Would love to go to UK to visit our friends but DH won't fly so unless I leave him here, been tempted at times  :), I guess we won't be going any time soon.   I flew in a small private plane and enjoyed it.

Hope all our MIA's are having a nice vacation.  BD said they had company.

Hiya widdle!  I like flying, don't do it all that often.  In fact, I've been in a plane exactly 6 times. i would love to fly a plane.  I wanted to sky dive at one point before the height thing got too bad.  We went to Niagra Falls and we went to some building that had a look out and had an elevator on the outside of the building.  Wouldn't you know it, I was stuck on the side facing out and the whole time I was in there, I kept thinking what if this opens up?  There are some bridges I don't mind and then others I white knuckle.  When i was in high school, my boyfriend's father would have us pick up bushels of crabs every week end and we'd have to go over this bridge. and he would tell me to look at this boat or look over there knowing how scared I was.  Men!

Hi gkids!  Scrappy used to sleep with us and still does from time to time.  But dh wants to try and get her to sleep in her own bed because she sleeps tucked in behind his knees and he has got to get his rest. LOL!  I would love to go to Europe too but I don't know about flying over the ocean.  If I'm going to be in a plane wreck, I'd like for it to be over land so they can find my body. LOL!  My aunt is getting ready to go back to the Netherlands.  Her dd's family leaves to go back in a few days.  They will be going to Spain.  My cousin and her dh spent their anniversary in paris, must be nice.  She has a blog and posts pictures and tells about their adventures so I kind of feel like I'm experiencing it too.  Maybe one day I'll get across the pond.  LOL!

Doodle, more power to you!  I don't know if I could drive across that bridge everyday.  I'd have to wear blinders or something.  I always look straight ahead and stay in the same lane the whole way across, preferable one that is in the middle of the bridge.

Hi Jgrif.  I don't have to drive over the bridge everyday (luckily because the toll is $5) but I do need to go over it if I have to go to San Francisco or the airport.  There is usually so much traffic that I really focus on that and not the fact that you are on the bridge.

    Good evening everybody!

We got in late last night.  The weather wasn't all that great but we had fun.  It was just nice getting away.

You all are talking about being afraid of heights and flying.  I'm not afraid of heights and I usually enjoy flying.  We had a girl trip planned for Vegas in October of 2001 (not even a month after 9/11) and I was scared to death.  The plans were set and the money was paid, but I tell you, I had tears I was so afraid to fly at that time.  We all wore matching T-shirts that day...red, white & blue that said "God Bless America".  Some how we got a little comfort from that.

We must have had storms while we were gone because our clocks were all flashing when we returned.

Here are a couple shots from vacation....

The girls enjoyed swimming in the lake, they could have stayed in all day

Sammie's favorite spot to lay down..

The girls were pooped on the ride home.  They're lying together on the floor of the van.

    Sammie, enjoying the pool today..
