I bought a potato , microwave , pouch at a craft show yesterday.

    Anyone heard or seen these?

A lady , from N.C. ,  was at our mall with her goods. I guess she makes most of them.  Or all.  SHe had some really cute things.

One that she said sold well, I went ahead and bought. It was a quilted pouch, and you microwave potatoes in. I haven't washed it yet, so, I haven't tried it.  It was 6.00.

She had a card, and will send things to you. So, I thought I would try one, then, if they were good, order some from her for Christmas presents.

I just got one as a gift from a buddy here last week.  I haven't used it yet either, but she said it worked well.  I love a good baked potato :)

I'm going to handwash mine now, and hang it out to dry.  I hope they do well. It says you can put, i think, 4 in it. I think it says NOT to poke holes in the tater, though.

Catmint, what's the pouch supposed to do?

I think you're right about the holes....I forget how many mine said you could do at a time.  I guess it just depends on the size of the pouch....I do remember thinking that I would probably never make that many potatoes at one time since it's just the two of us.

Let me know how you like it.

Did you see my new duckling?  We got him (Dexter) about 3 weeks ago.

Labrat, it is suppose to bake the potato.

How are you today?  I have been meaning to take my camera to my Mom's and take some pics of her deer. She has two babies, twins, i think.  And one young buck, with fuzzy antlers. LOL Several large deer with them.

I'd never heard of such a thing!  Had to go to Googleland and investigate!  I found a pattern while I was there.

They're using regular quilt batting, but it looked like one website was using the batting they put in potholders.

They look interesting, let us know how they work!

No, i didnt see him.  I have a girl sitting on some eggs out back in the flower bed. I keep taking her water, and shielding her from the hot sun. She picked the hottest flower bed to sit in . Some lambs ears there, for a bit of shade, but, it doesn't help. I leaned a round table top against the house, to help her some. I hope she gets a couple babies, at least, for her trouble.

THat looks like the one i have. But, with chicken material.

She had a real cute potholder,/towel hanger. She was asking 3.95 for it. I doubt she would make much on that, by the time she bought the potholder and towel. It looked easy to make. She folded the potholder, put a button on it, and hooked the loop of the holder on the button, which made the pouch to hang on your stove.

She had a towel doubled , and sewn to the potholder.

I don't get it Huh? Why would you put a potato in a quilted pouch and then put it in the microwave.  Does it bake the potato differently then without a pouch?

I agree.  I like my skins crispy.  I oil the potatoes and put seasoned salt on  them and bake in a regular oven at 400º for about an hour.  I do poke them about 1/2 way through the cooking time.

The instructions from Sstezel's site are:

    BAKED POTATO BAG
This simple bag creates a "just right" baked potato in your microwave.  The inside is well
done, yet moist, and the skin remains tender. The bag will cook one to four medium sized
potatoes at once.  Simply wash and dry your Potatoes. DO NOT ***!!  Wrap the potatoes
in a paper towel and place in bag.  Microwave as instructed by the microwave manufacturer.
    Time will vary per microwave.
When serving, do not cut with knife, simply use a fork. potatoes will be very fluffy.
Let the bag air dry. ENJOY!!

so I think this bag keeps them more moist than just throwing them in the micro like I usually do.  Sometimes mine are kinda shrively and I bet this bag keeps them steamed and hot until they are served.

I like mine best done in the oven, but with just two of us, unless we've got the oven going for something else, that doesn't happen.  I frequently make crockpot or pressure cooker meals, so I don't always have the oven on.  Plus, a baked potato isn't DH's favorite, so if I just want one, it's definitely gonna be in the microwave.

    Anyway, Cat ~ here's Dexter :)

He's a Call Duck, and is starting to change to a really pretty black on his back and head.  His beak has already started to darken ~ you can see that in this picture.

oh, mine was a surprise gift from a friend, so she chose a cute purple snowman material :)  Your chickens sound cute!
