Walmart shoppers - have you noticed the new logo?

I just noticed a new logo on an email I received from Walmart.  It has Walmart written as one word in blue with a yellow star or * at the end of it.  Now I can't remember - did the old logo have Wal Mart as 2 words or Wal-Mart?

Wonder how much they paid the genious who invented this new logoBig Smile

The Wal-Mart logo has been replaced with an updated, “sunnier” version.  Wal-Mart hasn’t updated its logo since 1992 (you can see the evolution of the Wal-Mart logo on the Brand New blog.  Wal-Mart claims the new logo is meant to support its overall strategy to change its reputation from behomoth to local retailer of the people.

Sheesh!  Do they think people are that stupid?  "Oh we'll just change our logo but we'll still sell a lot of stuff imported from China and we'll still put small local stores out of business when we move in.  But the public will think better of us 'cause we lost the hyphen and added a star."

Sam Walton died and the people in charge got greedy.  They decided they were missing out by not using products imported from other countries.  I miss the store that sold only made in the USA products.  The store that was closed on ALL major holidays.  The store that didn't open till noon on Sundays so the employees who attended church could still go.  Those were the good ole days.

    My sentiments exactly!   Good grief.

All that money they save by importing crap from China & that's the best they could come up with?

I'm a little bewildered by the outpouring of hate across American for WalMart.  Yes, they import from China.  Yes, they hire mostly part-time and thus save a bundle because they don't have to give benefits to part-timers.  So do KMart, Sears, Target and several other chains and yet I never hear anyone talk about how horrible they are.  Am I missing something?

My issue with Walmart - aside from all the imports - is that they are bully's  (Wegmans is too really) - They really push their suppliers around.

My Wal-mart has not updated their sign yet, so it still says Wal-mart with a white star where the hypen is. I saw that they will be changing all the signs to Walmart as one word with a yellow star at the end I beleive. I can't recall now where the yellow star will be but it will not be in the middle.

I agree with the other posters. Walmart used to boast all their products were "Made in USA". That was the big selling point for them. That sure went away awfully quickly. I miss that.
