****Prayer Circle For Friday, July 25, 2008 ****

    Greetings in our Lord! :)

Today our lesson is one from Dr. Max Lucado but first our scripture:

    Psalm 90: 1b

Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

    In God We (Nearly) Trust
    by Max Lucado

A few days before our wedding, Denalyn and I enjoyed and endured a sailing voyage. Milt, a Miami church friend, had invited Denalyn, her mom, and me to join him and a few others on a leisurely cruise along the Florida coast.

Initially it was just that. Leisure. We stretched out on cushions, hung feet over the side, caught some zzz's and rays. Nice.

But then came the storm. The sky darkened, the rain started, and the flat ocean humped like a dragon's neck. Sudden waves of water tilted the vessel up until we saw nothing but sky and then downward until we saw nothing but blue. I learned this about sailing: there is nothing swell about a swell. Tanning stopped. Napping ceased. Eyes turned first to the thunderclouds, then to the captain. We looked to Milt.

He was deliberate and decisive. He told some people where to sit, others what to do, and all of us to hang on. And we did what he said. Why? We knew he knew best. No one else knew the difference between starboard and stern. Only Milt did. We trusted him. We knew he knew.

And we knew we didn't. Prior to the winds, we might have boasted about Boy Scout merit badges in sailing or bass-boat excursions. But once the storm hit, we shut up. (Except for Denalyn, who threw up.) We had no choice but to trust Milt. He knew what we didn't--and he cared. The vessel was captained, not by a hireling or a stranger, but by a pal. Our safety mattered to him. So we trusted him.

Oh, that the choice were equally easy in life. Need I remind you about your westerly winds? With the speed of lightning and the force of a thunderclap, williwaws anger tranquil waters. Victims of sudden storms populate unemployment lines and ICU wards. You know the winds. You've felt the waves. Good-bye, smooth sailing. Hello, rough waters.

Such typhoons test our trust in the Captain. Does God know what he is doing? Can he get us out? Why did he allow the storm?

Can you say about God what I said about Milt?
I know God knows what's best.
    I know I don't.
    I know he cares.

Such words come easily when the water is calm. But when you're looking at a wrecked car or a suspicious-looking mole, when war breaks out or thieves break in, do you trust him?

To embrace God's sovereignty is to drink from the well of his lordship and make a sailboat-in-the-storm decision. Not in regard to Milt and the sea, but in regard to God and life. You look toward the Captain and resolve: he knows what's best.

    Grannyfay back:

As our scripture says, HE IS GOD--always has been, always will be. What's not to trust? WHY can't I always remember that???

    As Dr. Lucado said:

"Such words come easily when the water is calm.

You look toward the Captain and resolve: he knows what's best."

    God Bless!

Have some great news to pass along. I received and email from Holly (
Angelcake) and the baby is here! Here is what she said:

Hope Elizabeth was born 4:30pm Sunday, July 20th 2008

She weighed 7lb 12.9 oz, and was 20 3/4 in Long

She and the baby are fine. And their little 2 year old, Grace Ann, is thrilled with the new baby. :)

Here's the link to Thursday's PC:

Prayer Circle Thursday, July 24, 2008

I read all your posts on Thursday's PC and was really touched by them all! You are a great group of Ladies--you bless me every day!

Linda, I was especially blessed by what you had to say--I'm also glad you didn't delete it. :) Sending hugs to you and Brian!

Welcome, Thankfulgma! We'd love for you to join us! Praying for the young man with MS! Keep us posted on how he's doing!

Kaye, "Happy Belated Birthday to your DH!"

Deb, please tell John "Happy Birthday" from me!

Mari, I'm agreeing that God is doing a work there with little Aaron! Praying for all of them! Mari, as to the adult SS class--go for it! I taught little ones for years and one day the adult class asked me to teach them and like you I hesitated but finally accepted and I was SO blessed during that time!

Patty, praying for your missionary friend! And your hands!

    Nancy (ATV), praying for Russell!

JerseyGal, I was glad to see your post--didn't know if you were still having storms or not but I heard about the tornado in NH so I was concerned they might still be in your area too.

Connie, sending you lots of hugs!

    NB, hugs to you, too!

    Now I've gone blank.

Had to do some editing to get the lesson big enough to read. ;)

Randy, agreeing with you about the PC--and we were all blessed (and still are!) by you!

Now it has been a very long day--got all the yard mowed and the trimming done with Hubby's help. :)  And now I'm in great need of a shower!

Praying for all--I'm tempted to try to name more but I'm sending extra hugs instead.

    God Bless! Nite Nite!

Another good lesson, GF. It really is easy to trust God when the waters are calm but when life throws us a curve and we find ourselves in a stormy situation we tend to try to fix the problems ourselves instead of trusting Him.

I have a special prayer request. Some of you might remember I requested prayer a few weeks ago for my 9 yo great niece whose siblings had been taken by DHR and there was a chance she would be petitioned also. Just yesterday we took her to a wonderful christian organization here in north central Alabama. She is now living there and, if all goes well, that will be her home until she turns 18 years old.  Our biggest concern is that DHR will still try to get custody of her. PLEASE PLEASE pray that she gets to stay in her new home at this organization. There are 8 large homes there, each one designed to accomodate 8 girls and their "house parents".  This is a place for girls who need a second chance and is funded by donations from businessess as well as individuals. Thanks in advance for your prayers.

I will be checking in and praying for all requests.

    Have to run!

    Hugs!

Okay, this teaching is for me.  I have been waking at night and unable to go back to sleep due to worry.  I pray during this time but continue to worry.  I would appreciate prayers for our finances at this point.  I see no solutions but God has a solution and I need to trust Him and give it all to Him.

Am just exhausted from several nights of 4 hours sleep or less.  Off to bed.  Then off to work again in the AM.

I keep you all in my prayers.

I'm sooo tired tonight!!  Have been picking pie cherries for two days, have them all pitted, juiced enough of them to be able to make four pints of jelly and enough to make a pie sometime tomorrow.  Will be picking more tomorrow morning and that will be it for pie cherries (these will go in the freezer for pies this winter).  The cherries are too small to use the pitter so did them all by hand.  My back is killingggggggg me!!  It's worth it though; it will be soooooo nice this winter.

Mari, I've also been wondering what God is doing regarding little Aaron.  No matter how it turns out, God is in control.  May the parents be blessed big time!!

Linda, what a testimony you are and what a ministry you have!!  You go, girl!!  I agree with everyone about not deleting what you wrote.  We would never have been blessed.

Welcome thankfulgma!!  You slip right in whenever you want.  Will be praying with you.

Deb, "old coot"???????  I'm 56 also.

Randy, great lessons!!!  So glad you shared them with us.  Makes us think, hang our heads, and repent.

Darla and Connie, can't wait to hear how much fun you had on your outings.

    Patty, are you feeling okay?

Hugs going out to Tammy, Fishin, and JerseyGal.

    Hooray for little Hope Elizabeth.

JustCookin, will be praying for your great niece and her siblings.

I sure hope that I didn't forget anybody.  Please forgive me if I did.  Know that as soon as I read the request, I pray right then; so you're covered.

    Love,

    "Me"

Well, I've had my shower and feel like a new woman. LOL  Well, would you believe I smell better? ;)

Pat, I will be praying for your finances!  And praying for you to relax and sleep!  God's Word says that "He gives his beloved sleep." (Psalm 102:2)  And you are His beloved--so rest in Him tonight!  Also, praying for your unspoken!  Hugs!

    Nite!

Fay, loved the lesson & I need to work on that trust in God. Sometimes I am trusting quite well then somehow the trust slips away     Confused  The Lord is good to get me back to where I should be, haleluia!!!!!!!

How wonderful to have little Hope Elizabeth with us!!!!!

Treasa, praying for your DH to be able to relax & allow the Lord to heal him, In Jesus name!!!!  Prayers for your niece to become pregbabt for the glory of God!!!!!

Connie, I would love to be going with you & your Mom!

Pat, praying for you too, God is dealing with me on finances & I am kicken & screaming  He GOD, keeps speaking to my heart to give $100 herer or $200 over there, EKE, that is not in my disposition & I don't work & DH mainly makes 1 income, after crying etc. I will say ok then trust him cause He was the one that said give it away & he should be taking care of you needs. Well, just today our 1 cars insurance was reduced enough that I could pay the other bill instead of struggling.  My problem is that I always have to be in control, but this is fun watching Him work on our behave.
