    ****Prayer Circle For Saturday, July 26, 2008 ****

    Greetings in our Lord!

    I'm sharing another devotional by Max Lucado--just received it today and it spoke to me!

    John 7:37--38

    "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. "

    Water for Your Soul

    by Max Lucado

    Where do you find water for the soul? Jesus gave an answer one October day in Jerusalem. People had packed the streets for the annual reenactment of the rock-giving-water miracle of Moses. Each morning a priest filled a golden pitcher with water from the Gihon spring and carried it down a people-lined path to the temple. He did this every day, once a day, for seven days. "On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, 'If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water' " (John 7:37--38).

    He "stood and shouted" (NLT). The traditional rabbinic teaching posture was sitting and speaking. But Jesus stood up and shouted out. Forget a kind clearing of the throat. God was pounding his gavel on heaven's bench. Christ demanded attention.

    He shouted because his time was short. The sand in the neck of his hourglass was down to measurable grains. In six months he'd be dragging a cross through these streets. And the people? The people thirsted. They needed water, not for their throats, but for their hearts. So Jesus invited: Are your insides starting to shrivel? Drink me.

    Internalize him. Ingest him. Welcome him into the inner workings of your life. Let Christ be the water of your soul.

    Toward this end, I give you this tool: a prayer for the thirsty heart. Carry it just as a cyclist carries a water bottle. The prayer outlines four essential fluids for soul hydration: God's work, God's energy, his lordship, and his love. You'll find the prayer easy to remember. Just think of the word W-E-L-L.

    Lord, I come thirsty. I come to drink, to receive. I receive your work on the cross and in your resurrection. My sins are pardoned, and my death is defeated. I receive your energy. Empowered by your Holy Spirit, I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength. I receive your lordship. I belong to you. Nothing comes to me that hasn't passed through you. And I receive your love. Nothing can separate me from your love.

    Don't you need regular sips from God's reservoir? I do. I've offered this prayer in countless situations: stressful meetings, dull days, long drives, demanding trips, character-testing decisions. Many times a day I step to the underground spring of God and receive anew his work for my sin and death, the energy of his Spirit, his lordship, and his love.

    Drink with me from his bottomless well. You don't have to live with a dehydrated heart.

    Receive Christ's work on the cross,
    the energy of his Spirit,
    his lordship over your life,
    his unending, unfailing love.

    Drink deeply and often. And out of you will flow rivers of living water.

    Dear Friends, the world is "thirsty" for Jesus and just doesn't know it.  They try all kinds of things to quench that thirst and still nothing works.  It's only through drinking in Jesus that we can all be satisfied--and I'm saying "we" because we Christians can become parched too and need a refill--in fact, we need daily fillings from God's Word.  How can we give others a drink if we're running low ourselves?

    Please pray: there has been a terrible accident this evening in our area--don't know any particulars yet, except that it was a wreck and one person died.  Please pray for all involved and especially the family of that person!

    Now I'm rushing through since we have storms almost here. So I'm not naming all but I am praying for all of you!

    I'll check back, weather permitting!

    Hugs!

    Checking in early as tomorrow will be busy.  A lovely day today after all the messy weather we've had.

    Spent all day on SIL's finances.  She got scammed for $399 from her checking account, we think a telemarketer sold her a prescription drug plan she doesn't need (has Medicare and all bases covered).  Managed to track it down and hopefully she is going to be cancelled and refunded in a month.  I can't wait until we can get her some help/move her somewhere.  DH will have full durable power of attorney as of next week. (Kudos for www.legalzoom.com which is great for such things!!)

    Off to close up for the night...Good Night, all, and a good day tomorrow!

    Worn out from having both granddaughters.  Will have them until sometime tomorrow.  Still got to do baths, brush teeth, say prayers, drinks of water, etc.  Hubby hasn't felt good all day, so I have had to do everything.  Pray for every one of my joints.  Hope I can move tomorrow.  All going out to eat tomorrow night to celebrate early, my dad's 78th b-day (July 29th)  Everyone is so busy.  Hope to check back in tomorrow night late.

    Love and hugs to all,

    Darla

    Woo Hoo! I passed my exam at work! My boss even gave me a crisp $100 bill for passing! I played the meanest practical joke on the girl I job share with. I told her I failed by 2 points. Her jaw fell to the floor. I carried on about upset I was, I was going to lose my job because I failed, etc. Then told her I passed! I got her so good!!!!

    My brain is mush so I'm not naming names, but I've read the requests and am praying. I am praying I get a good night's sleep. For the past 2 nights, I have not slept at all and today my head is pounding.

    Sleep tight!

    Fay, After I am done here I need to quench my thirst with the Pord of God before I go to bed!

    Prayers for the family of the person that died in the accident!

    I thought someone was trying to break in the window in this room so I had DH look out in the patio & it was a possum, those things are so ugly. If there is any cat food out there they try & get some.    Tongue Tied

    Karen, happy anniversary to you & your DH, did you have a good day today???     Cake

    Chris, good to see you, sounds like you have been very busy.  How are you doing???

    Patty, when I told her the truth I just howled in laughter. She "punched" me in the arm and doubled over! It was so funny!!! The look on her face when I told her I'd failed was priceless. I'm so mean!!! I will take your orders and follow them and get me a good night's sleep. Believe me when I say I'm going to try!

    Precious Memories
    by J. B. F. Wright

    Precious mem'ries, unseen angels
    Sent from somewhere to my soul;
    How they linger, ever near me,
    And the sacred past unfold.

    Precious mem'ries, how they linger,
    How they ever flood my soul,
    In the stillness of the midnight,
    Precious, sacred scenes unfold.

    Precious father, loving mother,
    Fly across the lonely years;
    And old home scenes of my childhood,
    In fond memory appears.

    Precious mem'ries, how they linger,
    How they ever flood my soul,
    In the stillness of the midnight,
    Precious, sacred scenes unfold.

    As I travel on life's pathway,
    Know not what the years may hold;
    As I ponder, hope grows fonder,
    Precious mem'ries flood my soul.

    Precious mem'ries, how they linger,
    How they ever flood my soul,
    In the stillness of the midnight,
    Precious, sacred scenes unfold.

    SOFTLY AND TENDERLY

    Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
    Calling for you and for me;
    See, on the portals He's waiting and watching,
    Watching for you and for me.

    Come home, come home,
    Come home, come home,
    You who are weary, come home;
    Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
    Calling, O sinner, come home!

    Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,
    Pleading for you and for me?
    Why should we linger and heed not His mercies,
    Mercies for you and for me?

    Come home, come home,
    Come home, come home,
    You who are weary, come home;
    Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
    Calling, O sinner, come home!

    Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing,
    Passing from you and from me;
    Shadows are gathering, deathbeds are coming,
    Coming for you and for me.

    Come home, come home,
    Come home, come home,
    You who are weary, come home;
    Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
    Calling, O sinner, come home!

    O for the wonderful love He has promised,
    Promised for you and for me!
    Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon,
    Pardon for you and for me.

    Come home, come home,
    Come home, come home,
    You who are weary, come home;
    Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
    Calling, O sinner, come home!
