Ahhhh Thanksgiving!  When you mention Thanksgiving I remember back 18 years ago.  It had snowed the night before which for NJ is unusually early for the first snowfall of the season.  We were going about our normal morning.....the sweet potatoes were in the oven and I had just baked an apple pie to take to our annual family gathering at my grandmother's house.  But then suddenly I began having contractions......(oh, did I forget to mention I was nine months pregnant).  They began slowly and before long they were coming five minutes apart.  After calling the doctor we began our 45 minute trip to the hospital in the snow!

Besides turkey, what is Thanksgiving famous for????? FOOTBALL!  My daughter was born at 4:07 PM....better remembered as Eagles kickoff!!  All eyes were on the television set and I had to remind both the doctor and my husband that a baby was about to be born and the football game would have to wait!!  All went smoothly after that!  So now no matter what date Thanksgiving actually falls on, we will always consider Thanksgiving to be my daughter's birthday!!  It is our favorite Thanksgiving memory!!!!

I have two Thanksgiving memories. One about tradition is that when my parents were alive, I cooked Thanksgiving dinner with at least one special dish for each of the Adults  There were up to 15 people, and these dishes were in addition to the usual Thanksgiving fare. My second memory was about the first time I cooked Thanksgiving for my second husband's (then boyfriend) family. It was the last time that my MIL had all her DGC together with her 4 sons. She told me that that her one wish was for her whole family to be together. After that year most of the family moved away, and divorce took it's toll, but for that one year We were able to grant her that one wish.
