Prayer Circle Thursday August 8th, 2008

    Blessings Everyone!

Our prayers bring us into God's presence

How can I make my prayers effective?

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God's mercy upon them, and give thanks. Pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority, so that we can live in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity.

    1 Timothy 2:1-2 NLT

    Praying effectively

Paul urges Timothy to lift up requests, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving.

A request is a need, a deep desire for something we don't have—something only God can supply.

A prayer is a word of praise and adoration. A more accurate translation of this word from the original Greek might be to "worship in earnest."

Intercession is praying on behalf of others. Our prayers should regularly reflect this kind of selfless lifestyle.

Thanksgiving involved remembering those past prayers that have already been answered, acknowledging that we not only trust God's supremacy and involvement in our life but also how his hand has moved and guided us in the past.

When we pray effectively, we do more than communicate with God—we commune with him. We become one in mind and spirit and purpose. Today, let the focus of your prayer time be to connect with God in a very real and personal way, not as a slave would petition his master, but as a son would enjoy the company of a loving and gracious father.

Hello My friends:  I have a prayer request tonight.  A very special friend has died.  He had an inoperable brain tumor.  I was to the wake tonight and tomorrow is the funeral.  Please have his wife Elizabeth in your prayers as well as the extended family.

I cannot name everyone tonight, I am totally wiped out and need to get to bed. Know that I am praying for you, your requests and needs.

Mama: I love you both and am praying for you.

Charlie, I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. Praying for Elizabeth and family as they grieve.

Charlie, you know you can give a holler if you need help with the PC.

Well, Barb heard from her doctor. She has squamous cell cancer, "highly differentiated" (whatever that means).  She see's an ENT on Monday to see where they go from here.

I still have groceries to put away. I put the perishables away before I fixed dinner. Now to get the rest put away. Danny (they guy who is painting) got the ceiling done and started on the walls. It's going to be very cozy and restful and look wonderful. My poor cat is beside herself with all the commotion. It's hard to find a chair to sit on. All the furniture is scrunched together in the dining room, except the couch (her favorite spot) which is still in the LR covered with a tarp.

I'll try to check in before bed.

By the way, Friday the 8th is my little Lindsey Emma's first birthday. I wish I knew how to post a picture of her on here because I got some cute ones the other day.

Happy First Birthday Lindsey Emma!!! Grandma loves her girl! Cake

Deb, I am sorry to hear about your DS Barb, prayers for healing for her & for her family.  Poor kitty, mine go nuts when someone comes to the house.  Good for you getting your room painted, I bet you will enjoy it. What color are they painting?

Thank you for your prayers, I feel a bit better tonight, but still could be better.

We are going out of town tomorrow morning to take our dvd to get it cleaned & fixed. I hope.

    God's blessings,     Patty
