If Anyone Can Help Me, You All Can!!

My DS is a senior in high school this year. He is on the football team, and I was at a meeting tonite with all the other senior football moms. We want to give our kids SMALL gifts each week before the game - I'm talking several $ each at the most. These gifts would be themed according to who their opponet is for the week. One of their rivals has a weird mascot name, so it is hard to come up with something as a gift, so we thought we could just put a note with some candy and say "Trash the ----". We thot it would be neat to put the candy in a miniature garbage can. The only problem, we can't find any, and I don't know where to look to find a small container that looks like a garbage can. Do any of you have any place to look? I already tried Oriental Trading!

Dollar Tree or some other dollar store would probably have what you are looking for.  Dollar Tree seems to get allot of "desktop" trash cans this time of the year. 

What is the "weird" name?  Would it not be funner, and certainly more educational, if you learned what the name meant and presented a gift like you would for playing any other team?  Just a thought.

We know what the nickname means. We just can't figure out anything that has to do with it - for a gift. Since they are one of our "enemies" on the football field, we thot the boys would like a trash can to "take out the trash".

I seem to recall seeing small garbage cans in the past at Dollar stores. I have had a few of them over the years. At one point we were using one to store crayons in. If you have a dollar tree that would be a good place to check. They also sell items in bulk so that might be a possibility for you as well. I've seen some fairly large garbage cans (the kind you would use at a desk) at dollar tree for $1, they were the mesh kind. It would be great if you could color coordinate the cans and the paper used as the trash (tissue paper would be a good option since you can get a good selection of colors) And those would likely work well, just use more trash in them.I would check other dollar stores too.

I had to run out to deliver some handouts for a seminar before lunch and decided to run a few errands while I was out. I ran in a nearby dollar tree since I had some extra time and I did see a small garbage can with a swing top (available in primary colors). It was about 10 inches tall. I saw another  small square can that would have probably worked for your project as well. I know that the offering of the stores is different sometimes, but you might find what you are looking for there and maybe get some ideas for the next game. Maybe some plain footballs or megaphones that you could personalize with whatever message you want.
