    John Edwards Admits Extra-Marital Affair

He met her in a bar in 2006 and she worked with him on the campaign. He has not taken a DNA test yet on the child some claim is his. He was seen visiting her in a hotel the other day, and holding the baby. Probably off the short list now for VP.

Did I mention the dogs wife has cancer.

    Here's the story...

Edwards admits to affair, denies fathering child

Former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards on Friday admitted to an extramarital affair while his wife was battling cancer. He denied fathering the woman's daughter.

Edwards told ABC News that he lied repeatedly about the affair with a 42-year-old woman but said that he didn't love her. He said he has not taken a paternity test but knows he isn't the father because of the timing of the affair and the birth.

ABC said a former Edwards campaign staffer claims he is the father, not Edwards.

In 2006, Edwards' political action committee paid $100,000 in a four-month span to a newly formed firm run by Rielle Hunter, who directed the production of just four Web videos, one a mere 2 1/2 minutes long.

Hunter's daughter, Frances Quinn Hunter, was born on Feb. 27, 2008, and no father's name is given on the birth certificate filed in California.

Edwards was a top contender for the Democratic nomination for president. He placed second in the Iowa caucuses last January but dropped out of the race a few weeks later.

Edwards, a former senator from North Carolina, was the Democratic nominee for vice president in 2004.

The thing that bugs me about this, and I must admit I heard this rumor over a month ago now, is when some assistant of Edwards said NO he had the affair with the woman & the child is his not Edwards'.

I'd never casually excuse an affair, nor will I say it was his fault or her fault...but I do say it should remain private and between whomever the couple is & they are the only ones that know the reasons or have the explanations.

Guess if Elizabeth Edwards has stuck it out with him, they've figured these things out, and yes I knew she has cancer.

I still think John Edwards has a lot to offer as a politician, but he may as well forget any further Presidential aspirations for at least the next decade.  I hope the sex was worth it!

There is no such thing as privacy anymore when it comes to well known people.   They should know that if they do something wrong, it will be found out.   I feel sorry for his wife.  No matter what goes on between Elizabeth and him, if he wanted to screw around, he could have had the decency to get a divorce and not embarrass her.  JMO   I have no respect for him.

...and I'm sure you're not alone in your feelings, but it think thats a real shame.

See I think I don't give a dang if he had an affair.  I think Elizabeth gives a dang-sh!t if he did but isn't that and shouldn't that be between them??

I could give a burp if Bush had an affair...in fact it may have made him a happier person (even if temporarily) if he had one.  I just don't understand why something so personal becomes my concern.

No offense Birdseye, but when I first heard this news my response was who cares?  People make bad decisions every day and it seems like those with wealth and/or power tend to do it more.

    Just say NO to B.O.

    I agree with you, Oldgirl.

    Renee, it isn't a rumor if it's true, I don't think, and apparently he's said it's true.

What's interesting is how so many were dogging John McCain for divorcing his wife after an accident and it's just John Edwards' and his wife's business if he's screwing around on her while she's battling a deadly disease? ROFLMAO  Until at least the majority in the country can agree that if it's wrong, it's wrong, period, then the moral decline will continue.  It's either wrong or it's not and in this case, it was wrong.

I agree with Ladyfingers, he can forget seeking the Presidential office and like you, hope he finds the memories mighty comforting! LOL

LF, maybe she (his wife) just found out also. I haven't read anywhere that she knew anything about this until now. Just saying......then again, maybe she has already known. But I can't imagine many women who know and pretend they don't. Unless she thought it was over....which obviously it isn't.

Yes, it's a shame that it has to become public, but that's part of being in the limelight. I still say it says alot about your integrity. Whether he has a l lot to offer politically, I find someone like this to be untrustworthy.

If he'd made it to the nomination instead of Obama, this news would have cost him the election big time.

If a person has no more integrity than to have an affair when their spouse is battling cancer, how could you ever respect or trust them to run our country with dignity and truthfulness?
