    Frankenstein Salads recipe

Kids of all ages will love these fun and fruity Frankenstein faces made from rectangles of jiggly green gelatin resting on bright purple kale. Bean sprout hair, jelly bean eyes and nose, mini marshmallow bolts and a sour cream smile give this memorable monster some playful personality.

This recipe is an oldie-but-goodie! (Click name to see the recipe in a new window.)

    Graveyard Cake recipe

Underneath tasty "tombstones", ghosts, pumpkins, "worms" and "soil" that make this dessert a conversation piece, you'll find a delectable chocolate cake made from scratch in a few simple steps. It's a recipe I use year-round with different frostings. -Vicki Schlechter, Davis, California

    BLACK CAT COOKIES

    1 cup butter
    2 cups sugar
    2 eggs
    3 teaspoons vanilla
    3 cups flour
    1cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    ½ teaspoon salt
    ½ teaspoon baking powder
    ½ teaspoon baking soda

    Sugar
    Popsicle sticks
    Candy corn
    Red hots

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cream butter with sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and
    vanilla and mix well.

In a medium bowl, stir together flour, cocoa powder,
salt, baking powder and baking soda. Gradually stir
flour mixture into butter mixture and blend well.

Form 1 1/2-inch balls and place on cookie sheet. Push
a Popsicle stick into the dough for a handle. Flatten
the ball with a bottom of glass dipped in sugar.
Pinch 2 "ears" at top of cookie. Press a fork into
dough to form whiskers on either side of nose.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from oven and
immediately add candy corn eyes and a red-hot nose.
    Makes about 2 1/2 dozen

I used to make these cookies with the grandchildren at
Halloween. They had fun making them and also sharing
them and the recipe with their friends.

    Bloody Glasses

1/2 cup of honey or corn syrup

12 drops of red food coloring

In a shallow pie pan mix the honey or corn syrup with the red food coloring until well blended. Dip the glasses that you are going to serve your guests (clear glass or plastic is best for the look) and give it a gentle twirl before taking the glass out and propping it right side-up. Allow the mixture to dribble down the glass like drops of blood. Depending on how neat you can do this, you might want to place your glasses on waxed paper first and let the mixture set a bit before serving with your favorite beverage. (Some prefer to chill the glasses for 15 minutes)

These "pops" are really fun! (Click name to see the recipe in a new window.)

    Jack-o'-Lantern Pops recipe

As Clara Coulston of Washington Court House, Ohio notes, “Your little ghouls and goblins faces will light up when you surprise them with these sweet, smiling pumpkins.” The crispy pops are ideal for school parties.
