    .*~*~...The Rose Room...~*~... OCT. 15...~*~*.

I have the blessing of starting the new day thread!!!!!

    Good Morning Roses!

I hope everyone has a beautiful day. Do something special just for you. At least one thing that brings a little joy into your life. I think it would be great if we could post what that one thing is.

For me, I am hoping to bake some polymer clay beads. If I can get my toaster oven to get to the right temperature I will. Then I will post some pics if they turn out.

If not, I may go to the craft store and buy a new craft oven. I have a 40% off coupon.

How about you. What special little thing will you do for yourself? Your worth it!

I'd love to hear what you think is fun...It might give me some idea of what I might want to try.

Good Morning Ladies - - Great thought to start the day, Rebecca.  I hope to get to the WC today after work - - Not sure I call that fun, but I do do it for me.  I do it because it makes my legs feel stronger, even if I don't walk much better.  I do it because I know it's good for my heart also, but mostly for my legs.

Today I have a lunch meeting for the Fantasy - - this too, makes me feel good.  Althought this is something I do for others, it makes me feel good to have a part in doing this for the good of the community - first and foremost in raising the funds to help the hospital, but also because it's just a nice event, that gives everyone a warm, fuzzy feeling attending.

Other than that, my day will pretty much be just another day - - off to work in about a half hour.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Good morning everyone.

Kelly's Mission:  Time to look into the medicine cabinets and toss the empty bottles and boxes that are taking up space.  Check expiration dates too.  Then take a damp rag and wipe down the shelves.  Lift, wipe and put back.  (Just like we do the kitchen counters.)

Kids room:  Open the sock drawer and start flinging.  Odd socks, too small, some that are never worn because your child doesn't like them - time to fling them.  Have the kids help if they are old enough or do it themselves.

No Kids:  Do a Hot Spot Fire Drill in the room of your choice.

Welcome Momma_33 and Eve from Alberta, Canada.   Lots of support and friendship in this great bunch of ladies and we are always glad to see new people join us.  I'm Dori, from central NJ.  Married to DH for 40+ years and we have 1 DD, age 25 and living in AZ.  She went out to AZ for her masters degree and she loves it.  It is pretty out west but I don't think I could take the heat year around.  We are hopeing she comes back east in the spring.

Rebecca - Nice topic.  I usually go out to breakfast and shopping every week with my friend Diane.  We are going this morning.  I'll do my best to keep the economy up.  Big Smile

Pat - Two years already.  Boy how time flies.  About how many boxes do you fill?  Almost every week there is an article in the paper that a food pantry is having difficulty keeping up with the need.  They are seeing more and more young people needing a meal or a bag of groceries to tide them over.

Better go.  I have a few phone calls to make before I go out.

    Have a wonderful day.  TTYL

Hi all!  I'm finally back.  I spent most of Monday catching up on sleep.

I got home Monday around 11:30 am.  The trip home was actually shorter than the one there, thanks to the semi truck fire.

Branson was the best. Everyone was jsut as sweet as can be.  Poor Doug.  I bet he shook his head all the way home saying "Crazy Yankees!"    There was no lack of fun, that is for sure. Can you even believe that Pat and I bought the exact same wine, in the same quantity, but didn't realize it until we got back tot he condo?  How funny is that?  And no one mentioned that I went to the wrong room on Saturday morning.  I thought I was at the right door and when I knocked a small child answered the door.  I was so embarrassed!  I said "oops!  sorry, wrong room!"

Pat- It took me an hour to get out of Branson, too, but only because I got lost and ended up back on Fall Creek Rd in front of the Condo.  Shawn said thank you for the Cowboy sticker.  He said " that's awful nice to get a present from someone I don't even know." It doesn't seem like 2 years since you had your knees done.

Cook- I stopped at 3 different liquor stores in IL trying to find Hallow Wine to take home.  No luck, though.

Laura- Thanks to you and Brian for your kindness and hospitality.  You guys were so much fun. I felt like I'd known you forever, too,

I vote for another Rose Reunion in Texas next time.  Only  thing is, I have never ever flown, so I odon't know how that would work out.

I have to get back to work now.  You know how it is when you've been gone for 3 days.  TTYL

    Good morning, Roses!

Rebecca, thanks for opening the room!  You did good!  I love your idea.  I will be teaching my CCD class tonight (religious ed) and I know I get more out of it than the 3rd graders do.  I'm so glad you are enjoying our little place here.  That was very nice of you to say so.

Pat, I can't believe it's been two years since your replacements.  Wow!  When I look at how old "our grands" are getting...the days just fly by.  Glad to hear you don't have heel spurs.  Any foot problems make the whole  bod feel bad!

Lynn, congrats on you guys losing 20#!!! That's a lot!  I'm struggling trying to do a couple of pounds at a time.  I lose 4 and gain back 5.  Why is that???? Good for you guys.  I sure didn't think you needed to lose any weight.  You looked pretty good to me!

Amy, Pat had a moment leaving Branson where she thought maybe we had "looped" around but Shirley didn't lead us astray.  I was talking to someone last night who said the traffice has been like that for years. That stream of cars is like that everyday but Sundays are the worse.  Wonder why they haven't figured out a system of moving people better.  Glad you made it home safely! Bet Shawn was glad to have you back.

Dori, I'm sorry if I'm supposed to know this already but didn't your  dd find a job there?  When Jill (niece) was in Arizona she didn't mind the hot summers.  I don't know how anyone can tolerate 114 degree days. I don't care if it is "dry" heat....that's just too hot!!! Have fun with your retail therapy and helping the economy is a good thing!

We shoud be hearing from Laura soon!

    Later gators.

    Re: .*~*~...The Rose Room...~*~... OCT. 15...~*~*.

    Hi Rosies!

We got home right at midnight last night.  I was so tired, so slept really late today.  It is cold here!  I turned on the heater this morning trying to take the chill off.  The boys are very thankful!

It took us a while to get out of Branson.  We went to the barber shop and I got a rude awakening.  All of the people in MO were super friendly except for this particular barber.  I made a total of three statements while waiting for DH.  One was that DH didn't want a Marine haircut, one was to ask his dog's name, and one was to ask if he did his own dog's grooming.  The barber said, "I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to him (DH)."  Well, pardon me Mr. Chauvinist!  I'll just be a good little wommin and not speak until spoken to.

We ate at a BBQ place for lunch in Tulsa.  Had the buffet.  Then had Quizno's subs at the airport in Minneapolis.  It was a long flight home.

Today, I'm going to clean out my car.  The thieves went through all of the glove box and scattered everything around.  The proof of registration and insurance is missing so I'll run out and get replacements.  And my sewing box ended up being empty.  They just completely dumped it.  Sadly, the good fabric scissors of my mom's were in there.  And they even took the spare tire, and it's one of those Barbie-doll sizes.

Off to find something to eat.  Not sure what dinner will be.

Hugs to all.  Have a great Wednesday!~~~Laura

Some days, I can literally see the testosterone floating in the air around here.

    Re: .*~*~...The Rose Room...~*~... OCT. 15...~*~*.

    Hi again.

Crazy day here.  I was late getting out this morning because of the phone calls.  Then it was almost 1:30 when I got home and I've been finishing DH's typing.  I just got back upstairs.  run, run, run..............

I did my small part to help the economy.  I only found 2 gifts and nothing big or expensive.

Roma - DD did take a teaching job out in AZ because she didn't get a job offer here in NJ.  She sent out so many resumes to schools in NJ but as soon as they heard she was in AZ it was all over.  I guess they thought she was just feeling her way or thinking about moving to NJ.   Who knows.  There were 2 that interviewed her on the phone and 1 other that interviewed her and asked her to send a tape of herself working with a class, and she did.  She never heard back from any of them so she took the job in AZ with the hope that she can come back in the spring and go in with her resume and be here for any interviews plus she would have a year of full time teaching behind her.  We're keeping our fingers crossed.

I better get going.  Almost time for dinner.

    Have a wonderful evening.

Glad you guys made it home safely!

That's sad about your sewing basket.  They must've been in a big hurry. When I was at the Mayflower Hotel once in Seattle thiefs broke into about 10 cars at night.  The car had been valet parked by the Hotel so they were responsible for any damage. After all, they had all the keys to the various cars parked there.  The list was long...golf clubs, Christmas presents (wrapped even) an expensive sweather, fuzz buster, phone, cds....in all about $2200 worth of stuff.  Sure is the pitts dealing with insurance companies.  Hope you don't get run around as much as you'll have to pressure all the people you'll have to deal with!  Too bad the barber had the personality of a frog.  So how was the haircut???

Amy, did you say you have never flown?   You are missing such a fun experience.  For me the worse part is the ground stuff.  Security, lines, waiting.  But I think flying is great. I love looking at the scenery below...night or day.  Maybe your first trip could be a shorter one....come to my house!  I wish we had ridden that roller coaster too!  Maybe next time!

    Good afternoon.

I am so happy that out two Rosie's made it home safe and sound.

Laura that's just awful that the jerks took that stuff. Now why would they want what's in a sewing box?

Amy Roma is right flying is fun. How neat at night. We had fun coming home from Disneyland. Just looking out the window.

Thanks for the encouragement on the weight loss. It means a lot. and Roma a big thanks for thinking I didn't need to lose weight.

I have to go check out the fly ladies for today so will see you all later.

    Re: .*~*~...The Rose Room...~*~... OCT. 15...~*~*.

Good afternoon all. Hope all are well.

Yesterday I made a small loaf of bread and decided that the bread maker may do better if I made the bigger loaf so today I tried again. MUCH better. The other wasn't "pretty" - don't get me wrong, it tasted very good just the crust was to crispy even after buttering the top and it was all uneven. Now as an afterthought, maybe if I pulled the dough out and smoothed it out after the kneading it may have worked. Guess that's another experiment.

After spending a very chilly day in the house I pulled out the plastic for the windows and started that project. I have some rope caulk and am going around the gaps in the storm windows then putting the plastic on. I didn't finish by the time I had to leave for work but  the house was already starting to feel warmer by the time I left at 2:15. I still have to do the living room and basement.

Had venison stew for lunch. I had started it in the slow cooker last night for supper but it wasn't done so finished it up today. Brought some for supper which I need to eat pretty soon or my blood sugar will crash. Any time now we'll get swamped with patients and then I won't get a chance to eat. That's the usual for 3-11 shift.

The leaves are 85-90% gone here so these grey rainy days seem much colder than they really are. The lawn is covered again but am thinking of leaving them until spring now. It'll add to the soil. The back yard is a huge disaster but I'm not going to tackle that one.

Well, I'm going to go have my dinner. Have a great night everyone.

Greetings to all the travelers making it home safe.  Did you ladies get a chance to read about the great thing that happened to me last week.  I went to a book signing last Friday night.  I had been in previously and saw the book "The Secrets of War".  The military man's last name was (Youngblood), which is my maiden name.  I was able to meet the author Terrell Garren, whose grandfather was the focus of the book.  His books are factually historical in a fictional basis.  In regards to his second book "the Fifth Skull", it is a book about the Modoc War and the generals that General Grant got rid of that were criminals.   Leading up to Friday night and speaking to Terrell on that night, I had taken my family book I have "The Southern Indiana Youngbloods" with me.  By reading some reference, we found that we are definetly related. Since then I have heard from a lady in Klamath Falls who is most likely related.  also have heard from a gentleman in Texas by the last name of Youngblood who is definetly related.  I will be forwarding some information to both of them about the family coming to Maryland from Germany in the 1600s, info regarding the original land sites, info regarding their service in the Revolutionary War.   Larry, the man from Texas, has been seeking the book I have.  I am hoping to be able to find one for him.

    Roma, how are you doing?

CBW, hope that you are doing great.  I think puff left for her appt. yesterday so will be anxious to find out how she is doing.

Stacy, how is Emily doing?  Fluffy, how are you doing, and Hoos I hope you are doing well.

Lynn, are you glad to be back to work.  When is Wade supposed to get there to visit?

4boys, I hope you can get everything settled with your car.  Also glad the Brian had a good time.

Jeanne, glad you had a good time and lots of smiling.
