DIL had this when we were visiting them & it's delish!!
Gruyere Potatoes
1 tb butter
1TB flour
3/4 c chicken broth
3/4 c half and half
4 c shredded gruyere cheese (reserve 1/4 for topping)
1/4 tsp marjoram
1/4 tsp dill weed
1-1/2 lb peeled & thinly slice potatoes
Preheat oven to 400º & spray 4 (1-1/2 or 2 cup) ramakins w/ cooking spray...or one casserole dish.
Melt butter in med saucepan. Add flour and cook for 1 minutes. Slowly whisk in broth and half & half and cook until very hot. Add cheese a little at a time, cookinga and stirring just until melted. Stir in herbs and pepper, then potatoes.
Place equal amounts of potatoes and sauce in cups & top with remaining cheese.
Bake for 45 minutes or until potatoes are very tender, tenting w/ foil in the last 15 minutes of cooking to prevent over browning.
