Hi, everyone. Got our power back yesterday afternoon. I spent most of the evening picking up the aftermath....what a mess my house was in! DH did laundry, and Ol' Prince did the dishes, but I had a lot of other chores to catch up on, once I got back from the grocery store.
Tonight I'll hit the gym, and then home for supper. I marinated some steaks for the grill, and the princes were a-drooling over that! I probably won't get my tree up till Saturday, but I should get my cards out by tomorrow. This year I managed to decorate a bit, and last night when I got home, Lil' Prince had bought me a really cute tart-warmer between two skinny snowmen! It smelled of cinnamon, which is a nice change from the sweat and testosterone that I usually smell in my house!
DH told me that Jolene's town was one of the hardest hit communities during this storm. It's not near a big metropolitan area, mostly a residential community, which means they are sometimes the last people to get power. There were power trucks from other states here (Michigan, for one) that are helping us out.
It was so nice last night to read before bedtime with my lamp, and not a flashlight duct-taped to the headboard!!!
I'm going to our Medical Information Manager's holiday meal today. The boss said we could have a 'drink'. OOOH boy! I probably won't, my luck would be that someone would rat me out and I'd get fired! (not supposed to drink during work hours). What a stupid rule! LOL. They should meet the construction workers my DH works with! Some of those guys have a six-pack for lunch, and the rest of them go out and smoke a big fatty. (that 's how some of them get the courage to climb up on the high steel). Even with the drug testing that goes on, they still take a chance. The union is cracking down, but it's kind of part of their culture. I told DH if he ever got hurt on the job because someone was drunk, I'd own the construction company. It scares me to think about it.
Ok, I confess...I dug out my cookie recipes. Twelve of them, and am kind of thinking about making a few varieties, to bring a cookie platter to my staff next Monday. Someone talk me out of it!
It's a bit cooler today, in fact it was spitting snow on my way into work. I keep searching jobs in Florida. I saw one in Gainesville, at the University of FL medical center. DH is all ready to go, but I wanted to wait another four years when our house is paid off. I did interview at Orlando, but the salary was half of my current salary (choke*choke*). Even with the lower cost of living, I had some difficulty with that number.
Hi Ginny, I had the ablation two years ago....piece of cake and no more TOM!

There's no such thing as "try". You either do, or you don't.
