    Re: 01/09/09 CS's Chat

Top of the morning to everyone.

Guess what it's doing outside???? Give up?

    s n o w i n g !

We are just on the fringe of a "big one" and don't really think it will be to bad but hang on to your shovel NANCY Z and PAT!

Sounds like you may be buried up to your ears...That's not a short joke either, just how bad it's going to be south of me.

ZORA~~Bubble bath day, huh? I'm right on then as I soaked some of my cares away this morning and gave my winter-dry skin a luxurious treatment.

I think your wise in just 'moving on' with the problem.

ROSIE~~More well wishes and best of thoughts to you and Scott. You know your in my prayers.

BEVERLY~~The comment you shared from your DDDDGS melted my heart yesterday. How precious. I think NANCY B had the right idea when she was little...."stay little and last longer."

In response to the list of bubble bath needs; My own suggestion....Make sure those mood candles are in a 'safe' spot. I speak from experience!!! If you don't it really isn't a soothing, relaxing experience at all.  'sigh'

Just HOW does a cat survive a fall like that?????

Hi JP. How is the shift change going? Don't know how you do it.

    MARGARET~~I relate to that. LOL

I have a SIL who makes me get up and walk out of the room because I need to keep my mouth shut and cannot do it any other way than to leave!

Other family members have a key phrase when things get uncomfortable..."All righty then"  just before changing the subject when he gets on one of his 'kicks'

NANCY B~~ I found it interesting that even our devotional, last night, mentioned that it was Elvis's birthday.

I did enjoy his contribution to entertainment and was really a fan of his movies in my younger years. I think I mentioned here before that one of my best friends used to have a life size poster of him over her bed. Problem was she was married. LOL

I cannot believe that clock wouldn't work after you tried so hard to fix it!  Time

MABEL~~I saw the forcast for you and it doesn't look pretty...Well that's not true, it might actually be "pretty" but not fun for most.

Ko-Ko is a lucky bird to have you taking care of him and I know you really do love him. Wink

Wow, JEANE~~You sound like a very busy lady who is supposed to not be working as hard as normal.

Music is one of those things I would miss the most if I lost my hearing.

Gotta tell you that I cannot take my eyes off the person who does signing during worship service at our church. It just really does something for me.

I felt so bad when I heard that Donna De's "grand-lizard" passed away. I really liked Beardsly and know he was loved by her grandkids.

MARGARET L~~ Oh my word!! Your family members will be in my prayers! Please do keep us posted.

SANDY~~What flabbergasts me about the cold temps in Canada is when GRACE posted about her house freezing shut and her DH had to chip them out! That's reason enough for me to move. LOL

Very special thoughts going out for your sister and her DGS. Scary when they are so far away and you have to wait to get word.

Might I add? He is one lucky kid to be in Costa Rica on a photography expedition. I have  friend who goes there every year to see relatives and from her photos it is beautiful and very fascinating.

LEISA~~Is your employee back and doing a better job? Are you done painting?  If so, how did you like the results?

BRENDA~~DH was watching the game last night. I guess you could say I did too but I was more zoned in on my knitting that wasn't going well.

Did you notice Tebow's eyes? Should say what was UNDER his eyes.

Salmon stew??? Do you have a recipe? I love salmon.

Wow, what a parable!  Thanks for sharing it and let us all keep our hearts and eyes open to other's needs.

Gotta find some coffee. Have a great day

    Tippy

Punchinello laughed, "Me, special? Why? I can't walk fast. I can't jump, My paint is peeling, Why do I matter to you?"

Eli...spoke very slowly, "Because you're mine, That's why you matter to me."

Good morning, girlfriends!  I hope this day brings smiles and sunshine to all of you.

I just read the rest of yesterday's posts.  Would someone please help me because I think my head is spinning in directions it's not supposed to go.

I'm actually smiling and passing hugs hugs around the room.  Did you catch them?  Pass it on.

Hope you all have a great day.  It is Friday so that is a great day for me.  I always say that i'm going to sleep until noon on Saturday morning but never seem to be able to keep my eyes shut that long.

    Hugs

    Re: 01/09/09 CS's Chat

    Good Morning!

I know it's been awhile since I last posted. Things keep coming up.

Today we are in for a blizzard. We have about 4 more inches of loose snow, so when the wind comes up this afternoon at 45 miles per hour, it will not be pretty. We have had a snowstorm every weekend for the last 5 weeks. Snow is piled high all over town and we are lucky they can plow the streets clean between storms. I think I am getting depressed. Next week, we will be getting very cold temps. I can't wait for spring.

Zora, I appreciate all that you do for our group. Don't let it get you down.

This month I do the calling for funeral workers and bakers in our church. We had a big funeral yesterday and today we have another smaller funeral. I am bringing a cake and working so I had better get off of here and get a move on.

DH has been home for about a month and I am not used to having to cook so many meals. I will have to make another pot of soup so that we can have it for at least one meal a day. Otherwise I am going to gain weight. At the Hospital where I work, they are having a 2 month Wellness program that I have joined. We log our exercise and we get points for eating 5 fruits/veggies a day and other healthful things. I am hoping to lose a few pounds that way.

Happy belated birthdays to those I missed. Hope the day was extra special for you.

Praying for all CS's for good health and safety.

    Darlene

Good morning, or at least it will be if I manage to post this in the next four hours.

Rosie, safe travels today and hope you and Walt can relax and enjoy the evening tonight. Good luck to Scott on the big move. Love the 360 degree shower. :) Is there a mother anywhere that doesn't understand that? The last time I tried to have a relaxing bubble bath with candles, a good book and a glass of sherry, Elizabeth was 2 and promptly threw up outside the bathroom door after screaming for her mommy. Wouldn't you think that a grown man could handle a two-year-old for couple of hours?

Mabel, KoKo sounds like quite a character with a mind of her own.

Sandy, aren't crazy about Elvis? Oh, no! You should duck! Sorry, couldn't resist. :) Hugs and good wishes that your day goes well today.

Winter isn't three weeks old yet and I feel like we've been in it for eons already. And I really shouldn't start complaining quite yet. We have a long way to go.

I have decided at the beginning of this year to get all my photographs in order and digitalized. This is an ongoing project. I start to do this several times a year but something else always takes priority. But this time I plan to do it for real. I thought it would take a day, two tops, and it would be done and preserved for posterity. WRONG! There are thousands of pictures, some that are nothing but blobs, but all have to be sorted, scanned, dated or discarded. It doesn't sound difficult but dating them has become a real problem because the moments I thought I'd never forget are lost in the past and a lot of stuff I'm guessing at. You know the kind of thing: this looks like such and such place, now what was the year we were there? How old do you suppose Elizabeth is in this picture? 2, 3? Is it spring or summer? Who are those people and why are they in my pictures? Where the h**l is that? And the main question: is anyone, ever going to look at these pictures?

Also, lots of old photographs of people whom I've never met.

Oh, well, on with the job. My scanner is handling the job so far. Thankfully I don't have to print them, just put them on CDs.

Wishing you all a safe, warm and healthy day,

to my "Cookin' Senior" friends.  It is a beautiful sunny day here in SE. Kansas.  Don't know the temperature.  I  hope you are all having a good day.

NancyB, you reminded me of the CD's I bought back before Christmas.  I got a 2 disc set of Elvis, one Christmas songs, and one Spiritual.  I listened to the Christmas one, but after putting them away, I forgot about the other one.  I loved his singing.

Mable, the card game I played and won last night was called "Phase 10".  It has 10 different levels, and you have to complete a level before you go on to the next.  It was the third time I've played the game, and first time I won it.  The last 2 times, we did not keep score.  That might have changed the outcome.  One of the ladies brought cookies for us.

Hello Rosie, I wish you success in whatever endeavors you have today.  Hope Scott settles in quickly.

Kaiana, it is nice to see you back posting again.

Sandy, my 2 CD of Elvis is called Christmas Peace, I need to play the 2nd one that has the hymns on it.  Prayers for your sis's grandson in Costa Rica.  One of my neices daughter's went to Ecuador (not sure of the country, but somewhere in South America) with a missionary tour last July.  They were part of a medical group, that included a Dr. who was a dentist.  They did health things besides the spritual teaching.  She is graduated now from college, and is taking up a career with mental health patients. I think she wants to specialize in the youth, like teenagers, etc.

Brenda, I don't know for sure if I welcomed you to the group yet.  At my age, 70, we tend to get a little forgetful.  Your cute little siggie with the cat's hair problems sounds like me.  I wish mine would grow back by Monday too.  As I have been aging, my hair has been thinning, and I hate it.  I wish I could do something about it, but I can't.  That was a cute story you posted.

Tippy thanks for the prayers.  Christmas Eve was the first time I had heard from Brttani's mother in 2-1/2 years.  They had been estranged from the rest of us because we refused to support grown up children like my sister had done before she died.  They continued to live in a bad neighborhood with crime increasing every year.  Now I think they have a wake-up call, that they need to move out of that neighborhood, and make a better life for their children.  Only thing I can give them is my prayers too.  As for Michelle, I think she might have mental problems, to keep getting into the wrong relationships.  She's in her 30's and has never been married.  She also has had DUI's in the past.  I pray she stays safe where she is now, and the police catch that guy who tried to strangle her to death.  I saw the left over bruises on her face, Christmas Day.

Hugs and Prayers for everyone not mentioned.  You all mean a lot to me.  I might try to come back later.

Tippy-Thought I better jump in and answer your questions this morning before I forget what they were.

Yes, she is doing better most of the time. But DH has a puter there for business and he has caught her several times playing games. He is going to have to get a lost or password on there so it can only go to the business sites.

No I am not done painting. I am slow and have to do some work to some cupboards. My house is almost 100 years old and so are the cupboards. As the house has moved and settled over the years some of the doors are out of whack and won’t quite close. So some sanding and whittling is going to have to go on. But I do love the colors and the look. It is an old house and needs to look like an old house.

Grace-Can I send all my pictures up to you too? I am finally getting them all put in a big tub. I figured if there was a fire or something they would be one of the main things that can’t be replaced and I wanted something that could be drug outside quickly.

I am hungry, what’s for breakfast this morning? Guess I will go see what I can find.

    Re: 01/09/09 CS's Chat

    Hi, CS.

Like GRACE, I may make it during the morning, too. Tons of pics here, too, GRACE.

DARLENE, you N. Dakotans keep sharing blizzards and cold with us. You really don't have to be so generous. LOL We have a quick kitchen committee at our church, too.

TIPPY, not to my ears yet, but snow is blowing and drifting. The end is tomorrow, so who knows what we will get.

BRENDA, we are definitely having soup weather. I, too, liked the story.

SANDY, as I get older and my knees get creakier, in and out of the tub is quite an adventure. And, it is not a pretty picture. Prayers for DS's GS in Costa Rica.

JEANE, have fun with DGC, but not too much fun with the dentist.

BEVERLY, now I'm singing, I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles.

ROSIE, good luck with today's unloading and getting settled.

MABEL, I love the Ko-Ko stories. A journal of his antics may be a very interesting read.

NANCY B, I wasn't really ga-ga over Elvis, but I like his hymn album, too. And, I have always like the Hawaiian Wedding Song.

MARGARET E, every family has one. And, if not a family member a friend (?). We have a friend who thinks he is always right because he is the loudest. Catching a cold, you may need BEVERLY's "roll" of Kleenex.

ZORA, we watched the football game after church, too. Love the FL quarterback. How refreshing to hear a young man speak so eloquently and display his Christian attitude.

Getting ready for lunch and looking out the window to watch the snow.

Hugs and prayers for all CS.

    Nancy Z.

Margaret L-Sorry I missed you. We were typing at the same time I guess. Love all your panda siggies. Hope he didn’t leave too much hair in the tub today. I love that card game. We call it Phase 10 or Shanghi Rummy. Used to play it all the time.

    Hugs,

Just a quick run through then I will read more posts and chat more later....

Got an e-mail from Sis. She called her son (grandsons Father) and asked him if Stephen O.K. Well her son didn’t know anything about it so she about freaked him out. He said Stephen had called him but I guess it was before the quake hit. Later he called and said all O.K. He was in a different part of that area But in meantime her other son had flown to Ca. for business and called and said hey Mom they had an earthquake here,. Really neat. Guess it was the kind they get quite often there. My Sis says what's going on ? Don’t do this to me. You know we Mothers worry about all our kids no matter how old they are.

Be back later We are getting that lovely snow now you all are blowing south ha. Sandy

Hello again eveyone. I guess it's becoming pretty obvious that I am NOT getting many of my projects done as I am spending wayyy too much time on here Wink .

Back from the dentist and it was not a bad experience at all, since it was simply for a cleaning and even fillings aren't bad as I've got the nicest dentist around. He always numbs for fillings and even pre-numbs with a cotton swab before giving the numbing infection so all u really feel of it is pressure.  Had to laugh at how many can't stand the thought of the dentist. I shared that opinion as a kid cause the guy I had was a real terror...nice man but drilled till I was practially left finger indentations in the chair arm. I more than dreaded the dentist, too, in those days.

DARLENE ~ Where are you that you are having a blizzard today? We are anticipating about 6 inches starting late tonight or early tomorrow.

MARGARET ~ Thanks for the nice words about my being back posting Smile. Your siggies are lovely as are all the others. I just love to look at them so keep them coming ladies. Wish I could do them, too, but the last thing I need is something else to get me back in my "office" playing on the toy some more Smile.

CONNIE ~ Yes, poor Donna de's grand lizard did pass on. Trey's looks pretty much just like Beardsley and his lizard is also named Beardsley II  after Donna de's Smile.

BRENDA ~ Love that cat with the bad hair day. If the color were silver it would look very much like me some mornings Big Smile.

BEVERLY ~ Thank you for the bearded dragon links and picture. I will send them on to Trey's house and we can check them out this afternoon while I am visiting with him and Brooke. He'll love them.

SANDY ~ I love 50s music and always have. Who are your favorites from back then?

NANCY Z. ~ Another dentist dreader(smiling) and thanks for the fun wishes for the grands. They keep my stepping some days!

WAVING to KATHY, GRACE, LEISA, SANDY and all others who stop by. Have some pecan struessel bread in the oven so better get back to it.

    Jeane

Good afternoon from a partly sunny Indiana, it's 33 out there, only 19 yesterday.......brrr, it sure was cold & the wind was blowing.

Haven't done much around here today, cleaned both of the bathrooms & did a load of towels.  Wrote a couple of letters & took them to the post office.

Beverly.......your description of your GS sitting on you lap waiting for the bus nearly did me in....bless his heart, he really loves his Gigi!

Rosie......hope the move went well & Scott gets all settled.  Is he far from you?  Oh my, something else for you to worry about.

DH tucked away in his shop today, came in early last night, still coughing, got some meds from the doctor........he finally went yesterday..........what a surprise.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Dear Friends;Zora: I loved your thought for the day.

Groovin Granny: How true, how true.

Was out the door to go to Dr. about my hip, back and knees when dd#2 called and precious grandson, Marco cut his head open and needed 8 stitches above his eye. I had to check on him and bring ice cream(of course) it broke my heart to see him look so pitiful. Boys will be Boys!

My dear friend who lost her husband a year or so ago is going down quiet fast and is looking for a home health care. She has nursing home ins. but has to have somesort of healt care for the first 100 days and then can go into a nursing home. She doesn't want to move from her home. My heart goes out to her. We should all feel lucky that we can be as independent as possible for as long as possible.

Baack to my Dr. visit. Got there at 11:00 appt at 11:30 but got there early to fill out papers again some old questions and then the girl said he was 1and 1/2 hrs behind and I would see him after 1:00. Needless to say I changed appt. to Feb. I guess I will take advil until then. I just couldn't wait any longer was hurting already.

Enough about my aches and pains. We are going to Sea Island for a early supper so had better get something done before we go.

I wish all of my friends a very quiet, peaceful and restful afternoon and night. Sue

GS#7 was in an accident at school and cut his head open above his eye and needed 8 stitches.

    Back again,

Still snowing and weather man says will probably till 4 p.m. tomorrow Sat.

Now Tippy and Nancy Z and Darlene and anybody else who is having snow coming down. DON’T send it all here. You can keep a little LOL

John and I are hunkered down pretty good and will stay so until we get a thaw. Have enough food to last for quite awhile

Grace, Big full moon.? Well If I can’t see it out my window then I guess I will have to miss it. Too brrr here.

I need to finish straightening up my pictures too. Oh now I wish I had of put dates and people’s names on them years ago. Then my mind was sharper well sharper than now.

Speaking of lizards. My son says the new apartment building they are in a guy has a pet iguana. . Now they have two cats so have to pay extra. A guy who lives down the hall (I assume he is paying extra) has the iguana who he has on a leash and walks up and down the hallway,. My son said it was at least 3 ft long

Joyce glad to see you back, I just heard on the news about the terrible flooding in parts of Washington and also in Portland Ore. How close are you to Seattle? .

Penny knowing the way men are your DH must have felt bad to go to Dr. Hope the medicine does the trick for ohm.

Jeane, if you don’t mind me asking. Have you always been deaf or is it just partial? My FIL was partially deaf. He lost a lot of his hearing in about 1938. They didn’t have all the hearing aids then like now, It was pretty rough my DH said. One of his first ones he had was such a big one the batteries and such and when he got a new the size of a cigarette pack later in life he was in hog heaven so to speak..

Going to make some Chili so off to kitchen... Bye

    Sandy
