I posted this on the same thread in the Recipes forum, but there was no answer.  So, I'll try again here:

May I ask how the finalists were selected?  All of these dishes look far too gourmet for my family's tastes.  They seem so very different from the down-home-type recipes ToH used to publish.  They do not seem truly representative of the real-world preferences of the majority of American families, and so I'm quite curious as to how they've arrived at the top of the list for the purposes of this contest.

I probably wouldn't make the ribs, but the meatball thing is definitely up my family's alley!  Hope you can find the answer you're looking for!
