Re: Open for snail mail pen pals?

I was so excited to find this thread!  I LOVE handwritten notes, much more than email or other types of electronic messaging!  And like others here, I often write letters to family and friends - and at Christmas, it takes me forever to get my cards finished because each contains a proper letter! LOL!  I have also been involved in a greeting card ministry at our church and thoroughly loved the experience. My task was to send notes and cards to assigned folks on a weekly basis.  The feedback was such a blessing!  I also had a penpal for many years, but we lost touch once her life got so busy with her children. I missed the friendship so much, so I would love to have another one.

Just a bit about me -  I am a wife and mother of three.  I was raised on a farm but live in a city now.  We have pets - two cats and two dogs - and I love animals of all kinds.  We have many interests as a family - travel, hiking, visiting the beach, visiting historical sites, etc. We are also members of a Christian church. Personally, I love reading, writing, cooking, gardening, and I dabble in crafts.  I also enjoy music very much.

If you would like to correspond, please send me a note and I will get back in touch with you with additonal information!  I honestly would love to find a penpal!

I am so excited about this!!!  I can't wait to start receiving my mail! Email

We do want to give this possible feature plenty of thought before implementing it.

I am excited to hear that you are going to implement this feature.  Do you have any idea as to when you might be introducing it?  I would love to participate! Thank you!

     Hi,

At this point, we haven't decided on a definite plan of action for a Web pen pal feature. Until we formalize our decision, we hope those interested in forming pen pal relationships will continue to contact each other through the "contact" button on the E-mail thread so addresses etc. can be exchanged by E-mail privately. It's good to hear so many of you are interested in the old-fashioned write, stuff, lick and stamp kind of letters.

Re: Open for snail mail pen pals?

    Hello Everyone,

This is Kim again, the original person who started asking about snail mail pen pals.  I'm so glad that so many of us truly enjoy the handwritten letter!  Email is wonderful, but just not the same, especially in today's world where we're bombarded by bills and junk mail, finding just one letter with our name on it can really brighten your day! :)

Thank you to everyone who has expressed interest in pen pal-ling and kudos to County Woman/Taste of Home for keeping the options open! :)

I've noticed that it's difficult reaching people who are interested soley through the contact button, I think your account has to be set up so that you get a reminder in your personal email, or simply remember to check back on the boards to see if you've gotten a message via the 'contact' button.

I thought I'd come back \, update and make my request for pen pals 'official' since my first post or two were expressing interest in the general process! :)  I'm still interested in writing anyone who is interested.  I am 39, a SAHM with 2 sons--one is 4 and the other 21 mos.  I enjoy writing short stories and have recently begun my first novel!  I love scrapbooking, reading, crafts, being outside (especially up north, not so much in the HOT south)... I love to dance--all types, currently clogging and irish dancing.  I love geneaology, my family and Country Woman Magazine!  I kind of stink at gardening and hope to improve on that one of these days!

If anyone is interested in beginning a pen pal friendship, please either hit the 'contact' button on this message or feel free to use the following email address to reach me.:   writerkv@yahoo.com

Thanks everyone!  Keep up the great work TOH!  Your boards are a great way to meet people, learn new things & have fun!

I love snail mail pen pals. I already have 3 and I enjoy hearing from them. I like that others are still intrested in penpals especial with email being so much faster. I like knowing that someone actually took time and sat down to tell me all about their daily life. Thanks Kim for starting this.

    Hi Tracie!

I have no idea how I came upon this post of yours, I was browsing in hopes of finding a fun new friend who shares alot of my hobbies and interests (I googled for "primitive pen pal") and boom! There you were!

We have a ton in common, so I was wondering if you would like to become friends!  My email is whitewingdove2006@comcast.net and I'd love to hear from you.  I'm 42, married SAHM  of one 9 year old little girl, I am from MA, I love shopping, decorating my primitive country home, antiquing, gardening, reading, cooking, baking, fashion, camping, and a zillion other things!

     Hoping to hear from you!

This sounds like fun. A little about me. I`m 44, DH and I just had our 25th anniversary. We have 2 daughters ages 24 and 21, one grand daugter 8 months old and possibly a second grand baby on the way, we`ll find out thursday, home test was positive. One daughter in Vegas and the other one is in Idaho. We live in Montana, a stones throw over the fence from Canada. I don`t work anymore, I used to be a dispatcher for an Indian Reservation police department in Nevada which I really miss. I love crafts, (crocheting, making photo albums, ribbon embroidery, knitting although all I can make is a square) cooking, reading and doing things with DH.

I`m looking forward to hearing from anyone,

Hi kim, I for one am in favor of putting a pen pal section on the web site here.  There are so many wondeful people who love to do the same things on this site it is a shame not to be ablel to connect with them. Lets go for it! Cmv1207 ( Carol)
