    Canadian Corner 06/25/09

    Good Morning Friends,

Yesterday was a hot one, it felt like 34C and the same for today but we'll get some Lightning this afternoon.

Cathy, the baby will be here before you know it. It seemed like yesterday you told us you were pregnant and in three weeks you will be a mommy.

Nice to hear your mom is a little better. Dolores what a wonderful gramma you are looking after your Grandchildren.  How old is Keisha?

Pat a nice day with your family, enjoy your visit with your sister and Mom.

Aleida, I bet your garden must be looking nice and colourful. Luke being a bad boy, but mom that is what dogs do...LOL. I know he shouldn't be helping himself to whatever is on the counter.

I love listening to the oldies as well, brings me back to my youth.  That was music, to dance to and sing along.

Char, I will be very quiet for you today, no shouting and making a lot of noise. I'll tip toe around here..LOL.

JP your not a morning person? I am it's my favourite part of the day.

Char, my DS agrees with you re: the most beautiful province BC  I have never seen it only pictures and they do look gorgeous.

Meme, you like to read, just like Aleida and Marilyn,  I just can't sit there and read, wish I could. I have to go all the time...hyper I guess. I also can't stay focused on the book.

Where do you live in Alta?

Lori, we missed you too, come and chat with us Canadians.

Where is Gramma, she hasn't been here for days, maybe she is catching up on some sleep. Gramma we'll send the RCMP to look for you.

Emc, what are you doing today? Are you having company this weekend?

Meesh have a good day at work.

    Enjoy your day folks,

    YF

Good morning Maria.  I did sleep in this morning.  I woke up as usual and then turned over for another 1 1/2 hours.  I went to bed very late -- or very early this morning if you like -- because I had to pick up DH as he does drink sometimes at these men's nights -- and I picked him up at his sister's and when I arrived I stayed -- he had another drink or two -- and we chatted.  So waking up as usual is only 6 hours sleep and I don't function well on that -- now I have had about 7 hours and chances are good for a nap later -- well if DH takes a nap I might feel so inclined.  But he is still snoozing now -- enough already -- a novel about sleeping.

Nothing on our plates today so I expect some more work outside.  DH will want to put up all the solar lights -- sure hope I put the batteries in the same box as the lights -- if not -- where oh where can those batteries be??

Luke is wandering around -- Boots is outside -- as soon as I got up he headed to the door.  There is a chair right outside the door that he likes to lounge in -- although maybe he went hunting first -- we do have several moles around.

good morning to all who follow

Good morning. This new and IMPROVED board seems to be so slow, at least for me it is.

Going to be a hot one here today, 31 they are saying.  I want to get the rest of the garden weeded today, will do that before it gets too hot.

Tomorrow is the twins grade 8 grad. Supper and evening, hard to believe the time has gone by so fast. Keisha turned 9 last Dec.

Hi YF and Aleida  and to all those who will follow. Hope you all have a super, duper day , the weekend is almost here!!!   BBL   Dolores

Good morning! Hope the grad is fun! I remember crying at mine. I was overwhelmed by it. I think a small town grad would be fun for everyone! Give them a hug for me.

    Good morning everyone,

I slept in until 9am this morning.  Then again, I'm going to bed later in the hopes that I will be so tired, that I will fall straight asleep.  The "no matter what position I lay in, I'm uncomfortable" stage has arrived.  So, I am taking what ever sleep I can get.

Then, I called and chatted with my mom for a bit and then called my family doctor to set up an appointment.  My OB/GYN is on vacation the week that I am due, so I have to make an appointment with my family doctor for that week (if I haven't had this little guy by then).

It's a grey morning here again this morning.  Yesterday the sun did come out in the afternoon.Did it ever get hot and humid.  I thought it was supposed to today too, but my mom said that they are calling for rain again this evening.  Oh well,I have to get the laundry done, so it will go out on the line until it starts raining.

Well, off to get the first load going.  Then maybe cook some potatoes for a salad for supper.  Hope you all have a great day!

    Cathy

Okay, YF was nice and quiet, everyone slept, but that streaking JP sure gave me a fright!!

So I decided my coffee needed a touch of sugar, and a touch of flavor.  Well, I poured some flavor, and of course, as luck would have it, it came gushing out, and now my coffee is ruined!  Think I'll go dump it, and start again, just cream and a touch of regular sugar this time!!  That flavouring is only good in iced coffee.

We had a big booming lightning storm stop in last night.  But Kaeli, who has an over active imagination (and that is causing all sorts of issues that we dont' know how to deal with, grrr!) is scared of lighting, cause she thinks it's gonna hit our house, and we will burn down.  Her biggest fear is fire.  Kicked her off to bed, and once she is asleep, a bulldozer could come thru and she would never wake up!  But then we stayed up and watched the beautiful storm, though Zack, who loves the Thunder Man, came and joined us, he was too excited to sleep.  Randene couldn't care one way or another.

Meme, I too am an avid reader, when I get time.  I sorta stoped reading for awhile, but now I"m back into it.  After I'm done posting, I'll go grab my book.

Lori, it's about time you stoped in!!  We need to talk!  Only a month or so till your going on your Canadina vacation????!!!!!

    Re: Canadian Corner 06/25/09

Good morning Dolores.  31º is too hot -- think it was that yesterday.  Hopefully not today.  Have fun at the graduation.  I missed DD's grade 8 graduation because of a severe vertigo attack.  Took her to the hairdresser's after school, went to the florist and hit me like a ton of bricks.  Sat in the car and puked until DH came to get us.  A lovely lady stayed with me until he arrived -- took him 20 minutes to drive to town, then realized he didn't know where the florist was and then couldn't find a phone booth with a phone book -- poor guy -- heh never mind him -- poor me -- and poor DD worrying about her mom when it was supposed to be all about her.

Hi Meesh -- how are you?

Hi Cathy.  Getting all the sleep you can is an excellent idea.  And keep cool.

Don't work too hard Noudder.  Feet need a rest.  Must be really hot where you are if you feel the need to "streak"  hehe

Hi Cathy we think alike -- now perhaps you are streaking because you feel such heat now??

Hi Char -- Kaeli has an over imagination --My sister's daughter -- wil be 4 at the end of August -- had imaginary friends -- they were often the cause of something she did that was not good so my sister told her to tell her friends to get into the living room because she wanted to talk to them and then she proceeded to read them the riot act -- told them the rules of the house and told them that if they couldn't follow the rules well then they should go home and they were no longer welcome to visit.  Did they understand?  Not one of them objected and that was the end of that.  LOL

DH and I had our coffee outside again and then some breakie and then some outdoor work -- lots of watering and such again.  Then we sat to relax and a few small spits and then some large spits so we packed up and came in.  No more spits -- is that it???  Couldn't wet a baby's pinky with that rain.  It is still overcast so who knows -- but in any case we watered everything well.

Now I am here and DH is reading a magazine and we're enjoying a cup of tea -- should think about lunch.  Then get cleaned up and go into town as we need some more soil for a few more plants that need to be put in the ground.  Bought sheep and cow manure earlier this week.  Being a farm girl -- the first time I realized people bought that stuff I was aghast -- well I have grown and learned and here I am doing it too.  LOL

    Re: Canadian Corner 06/25/09

Let me tell you about my oldest, I know I'm gonna ramble and vent.

DD#1 was born a neat freak.  She wouldn't feed herself for the first couple of years, because her fingers might get dirty.  She wouldn't get rid of any of her babystuff, like her bottle or soother.  Now I realize, she just can't get rid of ANYthing!  She is sentimental to everything that crosses her path.  Everything means somthing to her, and if she got rid of it, it would be like throwing out part of her heart with it.  Give her a rubber band and a stick, and she is a happy kid.  Give her dirt to play in, and she is the messiest 9 year old on the block.  She went from neat freak to "Who cares" overnight.  She finds things that she doesn't know what it is, and makes a purpose for it.  I washed DS window screen, and unthinkingly, left it in the basement last night.  Well, low and behold, when I went to tuck the girls in last night, here was the screen, I believe she was using it as a goali, because she had DS brand new ball, and was kicking it hard, and the screen was all bent up!!!  I almost sreamed at her!  If she doesn't know what it is, she gives it a purpose!  I told her in no uncertain terms, that if it was not hers, she was not to touch it!!  She is the typ, when she plays, she must see all items in one single glance.  That means nothing is left in the toy box, it is all lined up on the floor or bed, or maybe even the stairs.  If only I would allow her, the 13 stairs would be her own world, ever stair would be a kindom of its own.  And every toy would have it's purpose.  Even if it was broken.

She loves people, she is a social queen.  When company is expected, she will wait outside, and if they are 30 seconds late, she runs inside asking why they are late!  THen when they drive up, she runs up and jumps all over them like a puppy dog!  I feel I do not need a dog, I already have her to teach "Stay down"  "sit"  "stay"  I'll be walking along, and she will come up to me, and grab ahold of me, practically making me fall.  Doesn't matter if I'm carrying somthing, cause she would never notice!  She will plow right over her little brother, and not even notice.  He might be crying because of it, but she still will not notice.  You point it out to her, and she will say "oh, I didn't see him"  And that's that!

you tell her somthing, in one ear, out the other.  Consequences mean nothing.  As long as it's good right in the moment.

But get her out of here, and she is a different gal.  She has a report card that will blow you away, with I think the year end was 96.9%, with some subjects being a 99% average.  She can understand subjects that are above her grade level.  She is extremly artistic and creative.  Told to write a story, she will do it with all her heart, and the neat writting/printing will blow your mind!  Peole come and tell me what an amazing DD we have, how respectful and well behaved she is.  I've asked her teacher so many times how she behaves in school, and I hear nothing but excellent report!  I am starting to think I may have a creative genius on my hands, and I don't know how to deal with it!!  I dont' want to kill her spirit, but she drives me insane, and she is only 9!!!

    Re: Canadian Corner 06/25/09

YF, I just missed you this morning- went to bed about 5 minutes before you posted!  lol  Wow, you really have the heat up there, already!  I am a wimp, I've been dying here and it's only been 27!  Ahhhhh!

Aleida, I am tired today, too.  I don't sleep well and went to bed very late and my dh sets his alarm very early and just keeps resetting it over and over....so I don't get any sleep till he gets out of bed and then he is never quiet...so I may need a nap later, too!  lol  I looked at the pics you posted- what a beautiful place!  I don't know that I will ever get there, but would love to some day.

Dorothy, hope you got those weeds pulled before it got too hot.  That's what I should have done, just stayed up and went and worked outside!    I wasn't here before the board was "improved", but notice that some days it is very slow for me, too. Hope you enjoy the graduation.

Hi Meesh.  I'm with you, I think small town grads would be extra special.  Everyone seems to know the kids- plus it doesn't take hours and hours to get through(since there are less kids).  lol

Cathy, I remember those uncomfortable days, they don't last too long, though. But having them in this heat doesn't help, huh?   Hope you get the rest you need.

JP, hope your day is good, too!   Don't work too hard.

Char!   You should have stuck with the Bailey's instead of the flavoring in your coffee, then the extra splash would have been okay!!  lol  And yes, we need to talk....haven't got the dates set, but looks like 3-4 weeks in August- is that going to be too late?  I will get together and talk to you soon.  I think you know you have a creative genius on your hands, with your DD....Wink, now the trick is- just what you said- learn to deal with her without killing her spirit!  You are such a good mom, you will figure this out....I will pray for patience for you, girl.

Well, hope everyone else is doing well today....I will check in again later....oh, if I'm not removing more bees!  lol  We got a call to remove some from a man's house.  They have moved in under the fascia boards of his house.  Last night we went and removed some boards and found them!  So, tonight we will go back and get them, and give them a new house!   We never get called for those easy swarms hanging on a branch!! LOL

Omigosh! I'm gone for a couple of days and Noudder decides to streak? What are you thinking, woman?

I've just been bizzy. Really. Had doctor and dentist appointments this week, trying to get our stuff together for a yard sale on Saturday, trying to get my Geriatric Wing arranged. Whew. It makes me tired just to think about it all. And besides, I bowl on a league on Wednesday afternoons. Geez, I'm supposed to be just relaxing during my Age of Philosphy. I can hardly wait till the relaxation startsSmile

Sounds like everybody's pretty much got it together for now...it must be because it's summertimeYes Except for Noudder, of course. Good grief, next thing we hear, it'll be Vi streaking through the library.

Cathy, sleep every chance you get between now and baby's arrival because unless you are very lucky, you won't be enjoying uninterrupted sleep again for a while. My first one started sleeping from 10 pm until 6 am at about six weeks, second one at 10 days (!), last one back to six weeks. What I wonder is why it is that DD's kids didn't sleep through the night until they were two or three years old. I thought that was odd, but have since learned that most new mothers say the same thing about their babies. Whaaaat? Here's hoping yours is one of those 10-day wonders or at least a six-week one. And don't forget to sleep when he sleeps; you'll be glad you did!

Gotta go help DD sort more stuff for the garage sale.

    Re: Canadian Corner 06/25/09

Well, I threw DD#1 into the tub, gives the younger two some alone time.  Well, after about an hour or so, DD#2 jumps in.  Now, somehow, a blanket ends up in the tub with them????  The floor is a flood,  had to use a mop, as the towel was already totally consumed with H20.  Grrrr.  Well, I literally pulled my hair out!!  Okay, I got my eyebrows waxed.  Then I came home, and sent my kids outside.  I made them go get me a boquet of wild flowers.  Unfortunately, it started to pour shortly after, and I only got a small boquet.  I want them to go out when it's drier, and complete my boquet!  I picked a large vase, I want it filled.  Then I put on a movie, and lit the candles by the flowers, made coffee (I'm out of Baileys!!) and my friend came for coffee.  Ahhhh.

Gramma, you make me laugh.  Yea, when are you ever going to relax???  My babies were put onto a schedual shortly after coming home from the hospital.  Thing is, nowadays, mothers are told that babies know what they need, and when, just follow the babys cue.  Well, that's a bunch of hogwash!  These are the babys that can't sleep thru the night at 1 year old!  It's that the mothers can't tell why the baby is crying, so they feed them...again.  My SIL fed her kid every time she squaked.  I found the biggest tip ever, was to feed the baby upon waking.  So many mothers feed their baby, baby falls asleep, but was not able to finish nursing, ate just enough to be able to sleep.  So if you feed them when they first get up, they are wide awake, and can eat much better, and they sleep better if they do not fall asleep with a full tummy.  It worked, but had to get them onto a wake/eat schedual, which wasn't the easiest, but so worth it in the end, when my babies were sleeping withing a month or two, and others were not.

I think I will go to town and buy potatoes and make up a nice pot of soup, with butter dips.  MMMM, perfect!

Hi Everyone, sure looks like a different landscape in the CC since I was here last! What happened to Crea and Katie? I don't see any posts from either of them at all!  My DH finished his radiation and it seems he doesn't have to go back to the Cancer Centre in Hamilton for another year! Halleluhya!!!!

Back at work at the Duty Free, but the passport issue is killing the busness...all our hour have been severely cut down and my July schedule is pretty bleek.....I have gone from over  40 hrs a week to 30..so please keep your fingers crossed for me!

At work today, in Queenston, the black skies approached, the wind was whipping up dust devils and I was afraid we were going to be in the middle of a tornado! It was a furious storm we had, crashing lightning and boomin thunder! I don't think I ever saw such pelting down rain and it was blown away in sheets as soon as it hit the ground! Thankfully, by the time I punched out, the sun came back and it was a humid walk to the car.

Hugs everyone! So darned glad to get things back to semi-normal  and see you all here......please excuse me if I didn't answer to everyones post, just know I read all of todays and love ya all!

Niagra!  how great to see you, and the news of hubby is wonderful!!  Sorry to hear the hours have been cutting back, but you know, the americans don't want the canadian terrorist, so passports is their idea of keeping them here apparently.  As for Katie and Crea, well, someone chased them away, it's sad.  I'm not sure what happened to tell you the truth, I never read it myself. And I promise, it wasn't me this time!!! LOL.

Wow, housework is done!!  That means, if I pack tonight, getting ready for camping tomorow will be overly easy, wow, better not make this a habit, for I work best under stress.
