    Canadian Corner 06/26/09

    Good Morning Friends,

Today is my DS birthday, the one who as all the bad luck. He is 41, can you believe this my first born is 41.

Yesterday was hot in Windsor it felt like 40C  I can't deal with that.

Aleida, solar lights are great and saves energy. Are you having your coffee outside this morning?

Dolores our DGS turned 9 at the start of this month.

Hope the grads will remember this day for a very long time.

    JP streaking??

Char loved reading the story about DD# 1  kids they are all different.  They bring so much joy into our lives, wouldn't want to be without my kids and gkids.

Lori, moving bees what a trooper you are, let us know how it went and where did you move them?

Gramma, there you are, been wondering what happened to you, did the RCMP come to your door? I did send them to find you, and there you are...safe and sound. How do you like your own place??

Niagara, so nice to see you again it has been a long time. Good to hear about your DH, too bad about cutting your hrs, cut backs are affecting everyone.

Crea and Katie are not coming back, due to a someone.

I heard about the weather tornado touch down and hail.

Meme nice to see you you must be a night owl? having a young DGD living with you must be a challenge. They are an adult but do not know everything yet...LOL

    Have a great day everyone.

So sad we lost Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson in the same day. May they be at peace.

    Good morning Maria

DH works today so he is getting ready and having his coffee inside while he watches some TV.  I have my coffee after he leaves -- that way he can take all he wants and some for the road.  I will have it outside -- it's cooler this a.m.  -- I like it.  No watering of the plants this morning since they promise rain this afternoon -- here is hoping.  I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon with my family doctor -- he wants to see my leg -- more out of interest because he didn't know what it was when he saw it -- I have another doctor who is working on it.

I could weed today since there is still lots to do -- I could just be lazy --

    Do you work today Maria

Meme -- noticed how alike we are as I too will set some indoor plants out to take advantage of the summer -- mine go out back because the sun out front would fry them.  I'm sure there was something else we had in common but it's gone from my mind -- oh well

    Char, thanks for the tuck-in

    Have a great day all

    Aleida

Aleida, I work today till 1:00pm  luckily the people have had their a/c on but today I'm afraid it won't be because her DH is older and he is always cold. He does not like the a/c on not even a fan.

I put my houseplant out doors when it's raining that way they get a wash and a drink. I have one outside right now.. At one time I use to have lots of indoor plant but not anymore I got tired of them. All I have now are african violets.

We a little rain yesterday not enough to make the road wet.

I still have indoor plants and some I am getting tired of.  I love African violets.  Right now I only have 3.  I had lots but also got tired of them -- and the cats walked through them and all the leaves were covered in cat hair -- and I couldn't fix that -- and then I just gave up -- so now I have three and they're doing well.  Unfortunately I had one really beautiful one and I did not get a clipping that survived.  And people I gave clippings to -- well their's are all gone now too.

DH has just left so my coffee and I are going out and then I think I will weed -- and hopefully finish weeding the front garden -- that leaves a bit on the side -- and a ton at the bottom -- but will have DH check there for poison ivy before I go beyond the flower bed.  Gee I almost forgot -- that still leaves all the other side -- oh my -- still a lot to do.

Don't work too hard YF -- my dad also rarely puts the A/C on -- when we come over and work in the kitchen -- I finally tell him he has to put it on as we are just too hot!!

Good morning everyone.  Such a beautiful morning we have , I have already had my tea out on the deck!!  We had 10 drops of rain last night, need much more but just doesn't seem to want to come.We were 35 C at one point yesterday.

So sad about the deaths yesterday, not that I was a MJ fan but is still sad. It was my Mom's 90th birthday , she is doing abit better. We will go and see her on Sun.  She is 2 hours away.

We went and picked up our newest additions to our family yesterday after Keisha got home from school. A friend of mine was giving away her 3 budgie's , cage and all the treats, feed and toys. So they have come to live at our house. 2 blue ones and a green one. So far so good, the cat walks by and looks at them and continues on her way.

Had company last night and she took all the rest of the wool that I had brought home from Mom's last fall. So was glad to get that out of the storage shed.

Today is grad day, they have their year end outing, I think are going to several places in the city and they grad tonight.  Dom is going to have her hair done right after school, don't know what tho.  Those of you who don't know yet, their Dad is black so the kids have very curly hair and she likes to have it straightened. I know most people get perms to make their hair curly, she goes and has hers made straight. LOL

Better get another tea, hope everyone stays cool today and has a good weekend.   Dolores

    Morning All

Had a bad night so we slept in this morning

Most of the storm missed us yesterday but the power did go out which messed up my computer.

YF we don't like the A/C either as soon as we can we shut it off, I find that my legs get really sore if it's on alot.

Aleida have fun weeding do you see snakes at your place. We have some here but not as many as when we first moved

Niagara it's so nice to hear from you so glad DH is better, Sorry to hear about your hours being cut. I can't understand this fuss about passports if we lived in Europe everyone carries passports & identity cards & drivers licences.

Now if we could hear from Ada to see how she is doing.

DH is waiting for me to go for a walk.

You all have a nice day & JP no streaking today you'll get us arrested for watching. LOL

    Re: Canadian Corner 06/26/09

I'm scared.  it's just not right.  Somthing is going on, and I'm afraid.  You see, the housework is done, I've started packing, the lawn is mowed (big pat on my shoulder) and even supper is in the crockpot!!  now do you understand when I say somthing is wrong???  I"m never an organized person, i believe pressure helps to get things done super fast, so why all of a sudden I'm all organized????  Scary.

I like Meme already, her tv story was funny!  Good thing it missed her toes!  Wonder if the colour is still the same on that tv?

    Happy birthday GiftCake YF DS!!

When talking about Fawcet and Jackson, I'm not familiar with Fawcet, was she from the Golden Girls?  I know she did a lot of acting, but I didn't care for her.  And by the time I started listning to that sort of music, Jackson had turned into a creep.  I liked some of his songs, but my parents didn't let me listen to that sort of stuff, not till I was old enough to buy my own CD player and CDs.  So all this talk of them makes me feel so young.

Aleida, your welcome, but it won't happen tonight, I'm going camping.

Dolores, wow, your in a real heat wave!  Well, I too would be enjoying a cool morning outside.  We are waiting for our heat wave to return.

Anica, enjoy your walk, hopefully it will perk you right up!

The plan is still for campiing, bunch of tough people that we are!  Packing tarps, and winter jackets, and swimsuits????  Just hoping it doesn't snow, as further west it is possible to get snowshowers this weekend they say, and it's a little west of here.  Keeping fingers crossed!  Oh well, either sit at home, or sit around a fire with friends.  We survived the cold wet long weekend, this one won't be as cold, we will survive!

    Re: Canadian Corner 06/26/09

Good morning everyone!  Well, we had rain the entire day! So, we didn't go move the bees....we will do that tonight. I am going to say Hi, then go get my dd and grandson and go check on some garage sales....don't need anything, but it's always fun!

YF, we are taking the bees out of a man's house, they built their nest up under the fascia and soffits and there were so many of them, that part of them swarmed about a week ago. (they left to go find another home)  Anyway, we have an empty hive, so we will bring them home and let them set up housekeeping in my garden!  Hopefully, they won't be too awfully far back into the rafters....We never get the easy ones to move!  lol  Your heat is incredible up there!  I suppose it just gets hotter in July and August, huh?

Gramma, you sound very busy.  Hope your garage sale is a success.  I was going to do one today, but didn't get it together, so now I am just going to look for more stuff to buy!  lol

Niagara, glad your husband is doing better.  I hope things go okay with your job.  We US citizens will all get our passports and maybe business will pick up!  Hopefully, just a temporary thing.

Meme, sounds like you are pretty "laid back"! lol  Your granddaughter is lucky she has someone so mellow to live with.  I'm amazed that teens don't mind living in such a mess, trying to remember if I was that way..suppose I was.

Aleida, you made me tired just reading about all that weeding!  I got my beds weeded all around the property, with the help of my son's gf that is staying with us, and now they all need it again!  lol  Most of my indoor plants are gone, too, I just didn't want to deal with them anymore.  I only have 1 African violet left, but I do have 2 huge Hoya plants- 1 was my dad's and 1 was a start from his-from years ago.

Dolores, how are the new budgies?  I've never had indoor birds....rescued a crow once, and we had a pigeon, too.  When you mentioned Dom's hair it made me think of my son's old gf, she used to straighten her hair, too, and mine is straight and I would love the curls...we always want what we don't have, huh? LOL

Anica, sorry you had a bad night. We didn't have any power outages with our storms.  The worst went over during the day, but we had streets flooded here in the city.

Char, you THINK you're not organized!  With all that you accomplish every day, you must be!!  I hope you and your family have a wonderful time camping...if you make a snowman, take some pics....or at least get some of the kids fishing in their parkas!  lol

Well, I'm  off to hunt for treasure....have a great day everyone!!

     Good Day all!!!!!

Another quick stop-by, as I MUST get home to get some sleep this afternoon.

Niagara, glad to see you posting. I've been thinking of you and wondering how things were going.

LOL, char, of COURSE you are organised...you just have so much on the go that you don't NOTICE.

June 26 must be a popular birthing day. My daughter is 30 years old today. I still remember it as if it were only a few weeks ago.....

Must head out now...limited time and all..have a good day all!!!

Morning all..still is here for another hour and a bit.

Have been out to the store to pick up a few things. We are headed out after dh gets home from work today. Taking our 5th wheel and going up to Sheridan Lake to our friends place. Will park in their yard and happily will be able to plug in there. Our neighbours are coming with us and bringing their trailer as well. Think the guys are going to attempt some serious fishing on the lake tomorrow.

We had company overnight last night. BIL and SIL got here about 9:30 last evening and left this morning for the coast, to see their son. Makes the drive feel not so long this way. They will be back here on Sunday to spend the night again on their way home.

Our youngest son is planning on coming out for a visit next week. He is in Red Deer. We may decide to go back when he does, as dh will be on holidays. We are missing our grandkids immensely!

Have had a busy week with appts for this and that. Next week is going to be much the same. How come everything seems to have to be done at the same time!?

Happy birthday to your ds , Maria. I know they are in some tough times, but a birthday is still a special day.

Char, always interesting to read about your kids. I have no suggestions as to how to help you with #1 though.

Niagara...so good to see you..and the news about your dh is wonderful!

Aleida...my garden is in desperate need of gardening too..why don't you just come on back to BC and help me out!?

Dolores, 3 budgies..they will sound so pretty when they are chirping.

Viola, happy birthday to your daughter too!

Char again..where are you going camping..you organized lady, you! oh and Farrah Fawcett was in Charlie's Angels.. the tv show.
I loved MJ before he started going weird. He was a very talented man also..but became very strange!

    Anica...hope your computer is ok!

lorith, my hubby used to love garage saling...I often just stayed in the car as I didn't care for it so much. Now we never go to any!

Meme, I know you are close to RD..where do you live? I have a son in RD, and one in Lacombe. We also have an aunt in Innisfail.

    Well, I think I got everyone...at least I hope I did!

Hey all.  Sorry I've been absent for a few days but things have been crazy around here.  A few appts. this week plus running around trying to find flooring and pick paint colours.  One of the girls I worked had her father pass away suddenly so I have been trying to give her a hand with meals and her kids so she can deal with funeral arrangments, etc.  And now I got a phone call from an aunt in SK who never got to meet Emily on our trip through because she was away.  Turns out her and my uncle will be coming through Brandon on the way to other relatives so they will stay with us possibly two nights so lots to get ready for that.  And I have boxes piling up that demand to be filled with something so I can say I've started packing!  Oy.  Not sure how much I'll get here in the next little while but hope you are all well and enjoying your summer.

I got on the computer early today and just watching our local news. I live in Alberta which makes me up later than some of the provinces but B.C.

yes, grand daughters are interesting beings and there are days when Meme just hides her head under a pillow-LOL-oops, I mean on a pillow.

But this gal is priceless- when papa hubby was living with his cancer and so sick and I was able to keep him home an extra 4 months because this gal helped Meme so much- she was so good to her papa and me. She never missed a day with him after his diagnosis on December 19= 2007 until his death on July 21- 2008. I could not have done all that I did if she had not blessed us so much- most teens would do their own thing rather than come and care for her papa. She helped me lift him into bed and even held his eyes open so he could see us the last days when his body was to weary too.

Well, Meme must go for a walk and get some cream for her coffee- I only drink one cup a day so my treat is to have real cream-and the cow in the fridge is dry.

Have a lovely evening and Meme will come back later.

I'm sitting here, ready to leave.  Going to Halut Lake, just a bit west of here, down the forestry road off Fraser Lake.

Viola, happy birthday to your DD.  I suppose this brings some memories.

EMC, enjoy the time at the lake.  Our friends should move to the lake so we could take advantage of their view!  I would evn bring the food.

Beth, what happens to the place you have now?

Well, I'm ready to go, just sitting here, trying to keep the house clean, put the kids in front of the tv, so they don't creat a mess.  Feels dumb being ready so early.  But it's okay.

Here is your thought for the weekend.

Remember, he who angers you conquers you. This also applies to lawn mowers. Have a great weekend!
